Abstract:Three new phenolic glycosides, millettiaspecosides AC (1–3), were isolated from the caulis of Millettia speciosa along with three known phenolic glycosides, khaephuoside B (4), seguinoside K (5), albibrissinoside B (6). Abstract:A new indole alkaloidal glucoside together with three known compounds aurantiamide acetate (2), eleutheroside E (3) and 1-O-caffeoyl-β-D-glucopyranoside (4) has been isolated from ethanol extract of the aerial parts of Clematis terniflora DC. On the basis of their spectroscopic and chemical evidence, the new compound was elucidated as (6-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-1H-indol-3-yl) carboxylic acid methyl ester (1). Compounds 1 and 3 showed significant cytotoxicity against human ECA-109.

Abstract:Two new rotenoids, named millettiaosas A–B (1–2), together with four known compounds were isolated from the roots of Millettia speciosa. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis including 1D and 2D NMR techniques and HRESIMS. Evaluation of the two new compounds for cytotoxicity against four human cancer cell lines (MCF-7, HCT-116, A549 and HepG-2) showed moderate activities (10μM<IC50<26μM).

Abstract:Two new isoflavone glycosides, millesianins F (1) and G (2), along with 11 known ones (3-13) have been isolated from the n-butanol extract of the vine stems of Millettia dielsiana Harms. The structures of 1 and 2 were established as cladrastin 7-O-β-d-apiofuranosyl-(1 → 6)-β-d-glucopyranoside (1) and fujikinetin 7-O-β-d-apiofuranosyl-(1 → 6)-β-d-glucopyranoside (2) by means of spectroscopic analysis and chemical methods. Some isolates (compounds 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 11) were tested for their effects on the proliferation of hematopoietic progenitor cell, and the preliminary results showed that all of investigated compounds had moderate activities but not in dose-dependent manners.

Abstract:Three new glycosides with the same saccharides, namely miliusoside A (1), miliusoside B (2), and miliusoside C (3), together with five known compounds were isolated from the stems of Miliusa balansae. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analysis and by comparison with the spectra of related model compounds. There was a rarely encountered a-D-apiose moiety occurring in all new compounds.

Abstract:The analysis of vine stem extract from MILLETTIA DIELSIANA Harms yielded a novel benzil ( 1) and five new prenylated isoflavones ( 2 - 6) together with three known isoflavones ( 7 - 10) and one known flavone ( 11), and their structures were elucidated on the basis of chemical and spectral analysis. The absolute configuration of the 3'',4''-diols in 6 was determined by observing the CD induced after addition of dimolybdenum tetraacetate in DMSO solution (Snatzke's method). Some isolates were tested for their anti-inflammatory and antithrombase activities and cytotoxicities. Compound 2, barbigerone, and genistein showed significant anti-inflammatory activity, with inhibitory ratios 59.1 %, 59.5 %, and 58.5 %, respectively, at 10 muM, while compound 4 exhibited moderate cytotoxicity.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To separate effective constituents from Millettia nitida var. hirsutissima.METHOD:Compounds were isolated by chromatography methods, structures were identified by spectroscopic means.RESULT:Eight flavonoids (1-8) and two triterpenes (9-10) were isolated from this plant. They were identified as calycosin (1), genistin (2), gliricidin (3), 8-O-methylretusin (4), afromosin-7-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (5), lanceolarin (6), soliquiritigenin (7), symplocoside (8), lupeol (9), 3beta-friedelanol (10).CONCLUSION:The compounds (1-10) were obtained from M. nitida var. hirsutissima for the first time. The 13C-NMR dada of 1 were correct assignment on the basis of 2D-NMR spectral analysis.

Abstract:A new lignan glycoside, tianshanoside A (1), together with a known phenylpropanoid glycoside, syringin (2) and two known lignan glycosides, picraquassioside C (3), and aketrilignoside B (4), were isolated from the whole plant of Viola tianshanica Maxim. The structure of the new compound was elucidated by extensive NMR (1H, 13C, COSY, HSQC, HMBC and ROESY) and high resolution mass spectrometry analysis. The three lignans 1, 3, and 4 did not exhibit significant cytotoxicity against human gastric cancer Ags cells or HepG2 liver cancer cells. This is the first report of the isolation of a lignan skeleton from the genus Viola L.

Abstract:Objective:To study the lipophilic chemical constituents of the radix of Millettia speciosa .Methods :Liposoluble extracts F‐1 ,F‐2 and F‐3 were isolated from the radix of Millettia speciosa by solvent extraction method and silica column chromatography ,and their chemical composition was identified and analyzed by GC‐MS .Results :31 com‐pounds were found in the extract F‐1 ,mainly comprising phenyl derivatives and related compounds (65 .71% ) and unsat‐urated fatty acids and esters (18 .71% ) .57 compounds were found in the extract F‐2 ,mainly comprising phenyl deriva‐tives and related compounds (52 .36% ) and unsaturated fatty acids and esters (27 .58% ) .50 compounds were found in the extract F‐3 ,mainly comprising phenyl derivatives and related compounds (18 .04% ) ,unsaturated fatty acids and es‐ters (14 .58% ) ,saturated fatty acids and esters (16 .57% ) and other compounds (23 .41% ) .Conclusion:The present study provides a chemical basis for Millettia speciosa .

Abstract:The structures of two flavanonol glycosides isolated from Smilax glabra, named smitilbin and neosmitilbin, have been revised to isoastilbin and neoastilbin, respectively. The revised structures were determined based on intensive studies of chemical interconversion, NMR spectroscopy, and X-ray crystallographic analysis. The latest NMR data were also summarized.

Abstract:From the extracts of Dimocarpus longan Lour leaves, 2 unusual flavonol glycosides, quercetin 3-O-(3″-O-2‴-methyl-2‴-hydroxylethyl)-β-D-xyloside (1) and quercetin 3-O-(3″-O-2‴-methyl-2‴-hydroxylethyl)-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (2), as well as 10 known compounds including 2 flavonol glycosides, afzelin (3) and kaempferol-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (4), 2 flavans, (-)-epicatechin (5) and proanthocyanidin A-2 (6), 3 triterpenoids, friedelin (7), epifriedelanol (8) and β-amyrin (9), a peptide, N-benzoylphenylalanyl-N-benzoylphenylalaninate (10), and 2 sterols, β-sitosterol (11) and daucosterol (12) were isolated and identified by using combination of mass spectrometry and various 1D and 2D NMR techniques. This is the first report of flavonoid glycosides possessing a 2-methyl-2-hydroxylethoxyl group in sugar moiety from D. longan.

Abstract:One new biflavonoid was isolated from the 60 % ethanol extract of the dried whole herbs of Selaginella uncinata (Desv.) Spring. On the basis of physio-chemical properties and spectral (mainly 1 D and 2 D NMR) data, the structure of the new biflavonoid was established as 2′′, 3′′-dihydrorobustaflavone 4′-methyl ether (4). Along with the new biflavonoid, three known compounds robustaflavone (1), robustaflavone 4′-methyl ether (2) and tetrahydrorobustaflavone (3), were isolated. Compounds 2 and 3 were isolated from Selaginella uncinata (Desv.) Spring for the first time.

Abstract:Millettia nitida var. hirsutissima is a Chinese herbal medicine used for the treatment of gynecological diseases. An HPLC/DAD/ESI-MS n method was established for the rapid separation and characterization of bioactive flavonoids in M. nitida var. hirsutissima. A total of 32 flavonoids were detected, of which 14 compounds were unambiguously characterized by comparing their retention time, UV, and MS spectra with those of the reference standards, and the others were tentatively identified based on their tandem mass spectrometry fragmentation data obtained in the negative ionization mode on line. Nineteen of these compounds characterized were reported from this plant for the first time.

Abstract:A profiling analysis for the methanol extract of the seeds of Vaccaria hispanica (Mill.) Rauschert was performed using a HPLC-ESIMS technique. Five compounds were identified according to their retention times, UV spectroscopic and MS features, and by comparison with literature data. Among them, a new flavonoid glycoside, named vaccarin H, was isolated and the structure determined by spectral and chemical analysis as isovitexin 2″- O-α-L-arabinopyranosyl-4′- O-(6″″- O-dihydroferuloyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside.
