Abstract:A new species of the genus Myrmecina Curtis, M. pauca sp. nov., is described. The new species is similar to M. graminicola (Latreille), but can be distinguished from the latter by its 11-segmented antennae, scape cylindrical at base, more strong longitudinal rugulae on the dorsum of alitrunk, especially the one running throughout the middle of the dorsum. Furthermore, the 11-segmented antennae can separate the new species from all known Myrmecina species in the world.

Abstract:The taxonomy of the myrmicine genus Gauromyrmex Menozzi, 1933 is revised based on the worker caste. Three species are recognized, namely G. acanthinus, G. bengkalisi, and G. orbi-humerus sp. nov. The new species can be diagnosed by the following characters of worker: humeral corners of pronotum rounded; lateral portion of head longitudinally striate, promesonotal dorsum feebly longitudinally striate, propodeal dorsum weakly punctulate. A key to the global fauna of Gauromyrmex is provided based on the worker caste.

Abstract:Two new species of ponerine ants from Hainan Province, China, Leptogenys hainanensis sp. nov. and L. zhoui sp. nov. , are delineated and depicted based on the worker caste. Leptogenys hainanensis sp. nov. belongs to the L. leleji species group, with mandibles elongate, slender and curved, lacking a distinct masticatory margin. On the other hand, L. zhoui sp. nov. belongs to the L. crassicornis species group, distinguished by its square head, smooth body, mandibles with a dentate masticatory margin, and short antennae. A key to workers for the known species of Leptogenys in China are provided and a map is provided for the newly described species.

Abstract:The tribe Mesoneurini from China is revised in the present paper. Moricella nigrita sp. nov., Mesoneura sinica sp. nov. are described as new to science. Moricella Rohwer is restablished as a valid genus and hesoneura Hartig and Megadineura Malaise with megadineura grandis (Andre ) are recorded for the first time in China. Megadineura is a member of the tribe Mesoneurini. A synoptic key to known genera of Mesoneurini is also proposed. The type materials are deposited in the Insect Collection of Central South Forestry College, Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, China.

Abstract:Seventeen ants of Mangrove area of Yingluo Bay in Guangxi were treated, among them one species was described as new, tetraponera shankouensis sp. nov., one species, Crematogaster vagula Wheeler, was raised to a new status and was recorded in China for the first time. The holotype spepcimens and part of the paratype specimens were deposited in the Department of Biology, Guangxi Normal University, and the other specimens were deposited in the Institute of Biology, Guangxi Academy of Sciences.

Abstract:A new Chinese ant species Carebara laeviceps sp. nov. is described based on the major and minor workers. This species is most similar to C. lusciosa (Wheeler, 1928) due to a spineless propodeum, the absence of horns, and a smooth head capsule. It is distinguished by the following features: (1) antenna 10-segmented; (2) katepisternum rugose-reticulate; (3) in major workers, lateral sides of head in full-face view parallel; (4) metanotal groove distinct, anterodorsal corner forming an acute tooth behind metanotal groove. Moreover, an updated key to Chinese Carebara species is presented based on major workers, with a checklist comprising a total of 36 Chinese Carebara species and subspecies. Morphological structures and scanning electron micrographs of the newly discovered species' minor and major workers are provided.
