Abstract:Eleven species of the ant genus Myrmica Latreille are reported in China. M. gallieni Bondroit is a new record species in China. M. taibaiensis sp. nov. is described from Mt. Taibai. A key based on worker caste is given for the 11 species.

Abstract:In this paper, two new species, namely Antepipona foveapronota Qin, Chen & Li, sp. nov. from Hainan (China) and A. xinjiangensis Qin, Chen & Li, sp. nov. from Xinjiang (China) are described and illustrated. A. varentzowi (Morawitz, 1895), A. luzonensis (Rohwer, 1919), and A. curialis (Morawitz, 1895) are newly recorded from China. In addition, the infrequent species A. tylocifica Kurzenko, 1977 is also redescribed. A key to the Chinese species of the genus Antepipona is provided.

Abstract:Two new species of ponerine ants from Hainan Province, China, Leptogenys hainanensis sp. nov. and L. zhoui sp. nov. , are delineated and depicted based on the worker caste. Leptogenys hainanensis sp. nov. belongs to the L. leleji species group, with mandibles elongate, slender and curved, lacking a distinct masticatory margin. On the other hand, L. zhoui sp. nov. belongs to the L. crassicornis species group, distinguished by its square head, smooth body, mandibles with a dentate masticatory margin, and short antennae. A key to workers for the known species of Leptogenys in China are provided and a map is provided for the newly described species.

Abstract:Leptanillinae is an ant subfamily of low taxonomic diversity and limited distribution within the Old World. Species within this subfamily are hypogaeic and are notoriously difficult to find and collect. As a result of their rarity, comparatively little is known about their natural history and distributions. Based upon new sampling efforts, we present significant new records of Leptanillinae from Mainland China, and Hong Kong SAR. Opamyrma hungvuong Yamane et al., 2008 is newly recorded from Sichuan Province, alongside a potential easterly record from Zhejiang Province, greatly extending its northern and eastern range distribution. Further, Protanilla lini Terayama, 2009 is recorded from Mainland China for the first time from Fujian Province and Hong Kong. We provide detailed collecting accounts for all newly recorded species, including associated habitat, nesting locality, colony composition, and for P. lini dietary information. All new localities for both species significantly extend their previously assumed distributions. Additional records of Leptanilla bethyloides Griebenow, 2024, and a note on L. japonica Baroni Urbani, 1977 from Hong Kong are provided. An updated distribution checklist of Leptanillinae from Mainland China and Taiwan is also provided. Our new records point towards an under sampled ant fauna of Mainland China underlying the need for new sampling approaches within the region.

Abstract:Two new species of the genus Mongolotettix Rehn, 1928 from China, i.e. Mongolotettix wulingyuanensis sp. nov. and Mongolotettix. shaanxiensis sp. nov. are described herein. M. wulingyuanensis sp. nov. is similar to M. angustiseptus Wan, Ren & Zhang, 1998, but differs from the latter by body larger, length of body ♂ 25.6 mm, ♀ 39.1mm; tegmina of male without a white stripe on the fore margin at base; subgenital plate of male conical, sides concave, apex acute; both outer sides of epiphallus without acute projection in the middle. M. shaanxiensis sp. nov. is similar to M. anomopterus (Caudell, 1921), but differs from the latter by tegmina of male longer, reaching the end of epiproct, without a white stripe on the fore margin at base, tegmina of female longer, reaching the middle of 2nd abdominal tergum, width of epiphallus larger than height, upper ovipositor valve slender, length 3.8 times its maximum width. A key to all nine known species of the genus from China is given. Type specimens are deposited in the Northwest Plateau Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xining, 810001, China.

Abstract:The species of the genus Atanycolus Foerster (Hymenoptera, Braconidae, Braconinae) from China are revised and six species are recognized, including one new species (A. grandis Wang & Chen, sp. n.), which is described and illustrated in this paper. Three species, i.e. A. crenulatus Telenga, 1936, A. lindemani Tobias, 1980 and A. sculpturatus (Thomson, 1892), are reported from China for the first time. A key to species of this genus is provided.

Abstract:A little-known antlion genus, i.e., Holzezus Krivokhatsky, 1992, with its type species H. compactus Krivokhatsky, 1992, is first recorded from China based on newly collected specimens from Turpan-Hami region of Xinjiang. In this region, another rare genus Subgulina Krivokhatsky, 1996, with its type species S. kerzhneri Krivokhatsky, 1996, in which the males possess a sac-like structure from the gula, is rediscovered from China. In addition, we briefly discuss the complicated phylogenetic relationships among the genera of Myrmecaelurini and other related lineages with similar habitat preference to the arid areas.

Abstract:The genus Termioptycha Meyrick, 1889 from China is reviewed. Among the ten species studied, T. longiclavata sp. nov., T. longispina sp. nov., T. nigrimacularis sp. nov. and T. cornutitrifurca sp. nov. are described as new; T. conjuncta(Warren, 1896), comb. rev. is re-allocated in this genus from Salma Walker, 1863; and T. conjuncta and T. eucarta(Felder & Rogenhofer, 1875) are newly recorded in China. Photographs of adults and genitalia are provided. A key to the ten species in China based on male genitalia is provided.

Abstract:The genus Laelius from China is revised for the first time and six species are recognized, including one new species as well as three new records. The new species, Laelius longus sp. nov., which is supported by both morphological and molecular analyses, is described and illustrated. Three new records, L. naniwaensis, L. nigrofemoratus, and L. yamatonis, are illustrated. A key to the Chinese species of Laelius is provided.

Abstract:Meranoplus Smith, 1853 is distributed in the Old World tropics, from Africa, Asia, New Guinea to Australia. There are four species Meranoplus bicolor (Guérin-Méneville, 1844), M. castaneus Smith, 1857, M. laeviventris Emery, 1889, and M. mucronatus Smith, 1857 previously recorded from Thailand. In the present paper, two new species of the genus, M. siamensis Yodprasit & Jaitrong, sp. nov. and M. tanomtongi Yodprasit & Jaitrong, sp. nov. , are described based on the worker caste. Additionally, M. malaysianus Schödl, 1998 is recorded for the first time for Thailand. A key to the Oriental and Indo-Australian species, based on the worker caste, is provided. The new species and the new record were found to nest in soil.

Abstract:The species of Mesitiinae (Bethylidae) from China are revised and 20 species belonging to five genera are recognized. The following eleven new species are described: Heterocoelia curtisulcus sp. nov., H. unicolor sp. nov., H. varicolor sp. nov., H. remota sp. nov., Incertosulcus afoveatus sp. nov., I. exilisulcus sp. nov., Sulcomesitius angustifrons sp. nov., S. latibilobatus sp. nov., S. sparsulus sp. nov., Zimankos acutulus sp. nov. and Z. hamulosus sp. nov. Two new synonymies are proposed: Heterocoelia sinensis Xu & He, 2006 is synonymized with H. zhaoi Xu & He, 2006, and Sulcomesitius rectus Xu, He & Terayama, 2003 with Zimankos cambodianus (Móczár, 1976). Two species are transferred from Sulcomesitius to Heterocoelia, resulting in H. punctulata (Xu, He & Terayama, 2003) comb. nov. and H. neomoczari (Barbosa & Azevedo, 2018) comb. nov. Two species are transferred from Heterocoelia to Sulcomesitius, resulting in S. zhaoi (Xu & He, 2006) comb. nov. and S. breviculus (Xu & He, 2003) comb. nov. Furthermore, Zimankos mahunkai (Móczár, 1981) is recorded from China for the first time.
