Abstract:In this paper, we obtain a supersymmetric generalization for the classical Boussinesq equation. We show that the supersymmetric equation system passes the Painleve test and we also calculate its one- and two-soliton solutions.

Abstract:An extended Boussinesq equation that models weakly nonlinear and weakly dispersive waves on a uniform layer of water is studied in this paper. The results show that the equation is not Painleve-integrable in general. Some particular exact travelling wave solutions are obtained by using a function expansion method. An approximate solitary wave solution with physical significance is obtained by using a perturbation method. We find that the extended Boussinesq equation with a depth parameter of 1/root 2 is able to match the Laitone's (1960) second order solitary wave solution of the Euler equations.

Abstract:The nonlinear variants of the generalized Boussinesq water equations with positive and negative exponents are studied in this paper. The analytic expressions of the compactons, solitons, solitary patterns, and periodic solutions for the equations are obtained by using a technique based on the reduction of order of differential equations. It is shown that the nonlinear variants, or nonlinear variants together with the wave numbers, directly lead to the qualitative change in the physical structures of the solutions.

Abstract:The existence of multi-speed solitary waves for the one-dimensional good Boussinesq equation with a power nonlinearity is proven. These solutions are shown to behave at large times as a pair of scalar solitary waves traveling at different speeds. Both subcritical and supercritical cases are treated. The proof is based on the construction of approximations of the multi-speed solitary waves by solving an equivalent system backward in time and using energy methods to obtain uniform estimates.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a Generalized (2+1)-dimensional Boussinesq-type equation. Using the Hirota bilinear method, we present the N -order bright soliton solutions and dark soliton solutions. For the one-soliton solution, the bright soliton solution and the dark soliton solution share the same limit line but have different extreme values. Building on the soliton solutions, we derive higher-order bright and dark breather solutions as well as mixed solutions. The dynamic behavior is characterized using visual representations. Furthermore, through the long-wave limit method, we obtain the bright and dark lump solutions. Notably, they share the same extreme points but have different extreme values. Additionally, we derive two semi-rational solutions as lump-soliton and lump-breather. It is found that the lump moves along the peak amplitude of the soliton wave.

Long time existence for a class of weakly transverse Boussinesq systems

Abstract:We prove the existence on long time scales of the solutions to the Cauchy problem for a version of weakly transverse Boussinesq systems arising in the modeling of surface water waves. This system is much more complicated than the isotropic Boussinesq systems because dispersion is only present in the x-direction, leading to anisotropic eigenvalues in the linearized system. This anisotropic character leads to loss of y-derivatives for the solutions. To overcome this main difficulty our strategy is to symmetrize the system by introducing suitable good unknowns in the sense of [3].

Abstract:The elementary and systematic binary Bell polynomial approach is applied to the good Boussinesq equation. The bilinear representation, $n$-soliton solutions, bilinear Bäcklund transformation, Lax pair and infinite conservation laws of the good Boussinesq equation are obtained directly. In addition, from the reduction conditions of the obtained Lax pairs, the $n$ order $\operatorname{Wronskian}$ determinant solution of the equation is also constructed.

Abstract:In this paper, we employ the bifurcation method of dynamical systems to study the solitary waves and periodic waves of a generalized Boussinesq equations. All possible phase portraits in the parameter plane for the travelling wavesystems are obtained. The possible solitary wave solutions, periodic wave solutions and cusp waves for the general Boussinesq type fluid model are also investigated.

Abstract:We analyze the Boussinesq equation on the line with Schwartz initial data belonging to the physically relevant class of global solutions. In a recent paper, we determined ten main asymptotic sectors describing the large $(x,t)$-behavior of the solution, and for each of these sectors we provided the leading order asymptotics in the case when no solitons are present. In this paper, we give a formula valid in the asymptotic sector $x/t \in (1,M]$, where $M$ is a large positive constant, in the case when solitons are present. Combined with earlier results, this validates the soliton resolution conjecture for the Boussinesq equation everywhere in the $(x,t)$-plane except in a number of small transition zones.

Superposition solitons for the mixed 4-coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations

Abstract:In this paper, the mixed 4-coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations with different nonlinear signs are studied to derive a new type of soliton solutions called the superposition soliton solutions. By using the Hirota method, we obtain the exact one-bright-three-superposition N-soliton solutions analytically. Notably, this kind of soliton solutions have not been researched in prior literature. Under certain conditions, the general mixed (bright-dark) soliton solutions can be obtained from our results such as all bright soliton solutions. In addition, the propagation characteristics, including elastic collision, time periodicity and soliton reaction, are displayed through graphic simulation. On this basis, the influence of various parameters on the phase, direction, and amplitude of soliton propogation is concluded. Finally, the asymptotic behaviors of 2, 3-soliton solutions are analyzed in detail.

Abstract:Based on the Hirota bilinear method and the Riemann theta function, a straightforward way is shown to construct quasi-periodic wave solutions of supersymmetric equations. The resulting theory is applied to the supersymmetric modified Korteweg–de Vries equation. Further, we analyze the asymptotic properties of the solutions and give their asymptotic relations between the quasi-periodic wave solutions and the soliton solutions.

Abstract:We devise a lucid and straightforward way for explicitly constructing quasi-periodic wave solutions (also called multi-periodic wave solutions) of supersymmetric equations in superspace $\mathbb{R}_\Lambda^{2,1}$ over two-dimensional Grassmann algebra $G_1(\sigma)$. Once a nonlinear equation is written in a bilinear form, its quasi-periodic wave solutions can be directly obtained by using a formula. Moreover, properties of these solutions are investigated in detail by analyzing their structures, plots and asymptotic behaviors. The relations between the quasi-periodic wave solutions and soliton solutions are rigorously established. It is shown that the soliton solutions can be obtained only as limiting cases of the quasi-periodic wave solutions under small amplitude limits in superspace $\mathbb{R}_\Lambda^{2,1}$. We find that, in contrast to the purely bosonic case, there is an interesting influencing band occurred among the quasi-periodic waves under the presence of the Grassmann variable. The quasi-periodic waves are symmetric about the band but collapse along with the band. Furthermore, the amplitudes of the quasi-periodic waves increase as the waves move away from the band. The efficiency of our proposed method can be demonstrated on a class variety of supersymmetric equations such as those considered in this paper, $\mathcal{N}=1$ supersymmetric KdV, Sawada-Kotera-Ramani and Ito's equations, as well as $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetric KdV equation.

Abstract:In this paper, we study supersymmetric or bi-superhamiltonian Euler equations related to the generalized Neveu-Schwarz algebra. As an application, we obtain several supersymmetric or bi-superhamiltonian generalizations of some well-known integrable systems including the coupled KdV equation, the 2-component Camassa-Holm equation and the 2-component Hunter-Saxton equation. To our knowledge, most of them are new.

Abstract:In this paper, we construct a Darboux transformation and the related Bäcklund transformation for the supersymmetric Sawada-Kotera (SSK) equation. The associated nonlinear superposition formula is also worked out. We demonstrate that these are natural extensions of the similar results of the Sawada-Kotera equation and may be applied to produce the solutions of the SSK equation. Also, we present two semi-discrete systems and show that the continuum limit of one of them goes to the SKK equation.
