Abstract:The morphology and delamination pattern of oxide film during high temperature wear process were studied in Cr-Mo-V cast steels. The mechanism of high temperature wear was also discussed.A layer of oxide film was formed on the worn surface after a short time of wear at 400 ℃.The oxide film was composed of Fe3O4 and Fe2O3.Because oxide film prevented steel-steel contact, the wear rate decreased.Meanwhile the oxide film delaminated by fatigue because of brittleness, which caused wear. The wear rate was depend on the delamination patterns of oxide film.As fatigue delamination takes place in oxide film or at the interface of oxide and steel, the wear is classified as mild oxidation wear with lower wear rate.As oxide film delaminated from the inside of matrix under oxide film,it was classified as severe wear with high wear rate.
