Process simulation, optimized technology and computer controlled quenching

Abstract:With the rapid development of plastic product manufacturing industry, demands of pre-hardened plastic die steel increases. As to the quenching process of large-scale die, traditional one with the limitation of process, equipment, control technology cannot ensure qualities. In order to receive good service qualities for plastic die steel like AISI P20 and AISI 718, by qualitative analysis of the quenching process of large-scale die according to the transformation mechanics during quenching, quenching process framework has been developed. By the combination of computer simulation and production verification, the compound quenching process using water and air as the main quenching media was adopted to investigate on the feasibility of the new process. In accordance to the new process, new quenching facilities with automatic control system were designed and manufactured. Results from the real production showed that the process and the quenching facilities can be well applied in a clean manner.
