Abstract:In the 940 nm LD pumped Yb:YAG laser, the stable mode-locked trains wavelength at 1030 nm and 1050 nm is obtained by use of two pieces SESAM. The spectrum FWHM are 1 nm and 2 nm. The repetition rates are 190.24 MHz and 178.6 MHz. The average power of output is 80 mW and 60 mW when the pump power is 4W.

Abstract:Pico-second solid-state lasers with multi-watt average power and multi-kilowatt peak power are required for numerous applications such as UV generation and pumping of optical parametric oscillators for RGB laser TV display. In the past few years laser diode bars as pump source with continue output power of hundreds watts or more have become commercially available. LD side pumping YAG laser module can be used to generate high reputation mode locked output pulse with SESAM (Semiconductor Saturable Absorber Mirror) as an end cavity mirror. In this paper, we demonstrate an all solid-state mode-locked YAG laser with three-mirror folded cavity with a SESAM mirror, 80MHz pulse rate, about 10ps pulse width, and 2W 1064 nn output power. Thermal effect of laser rod, and polarization of intra-cavity beam are considered in laser cavity design. The enhancement of laser performance and decreasing Q switching effect are discussed. Further investigation is greatly needed.

Abstract:We present a mode-locked all-normal-dispersion double-clad Yb-doped fiber laser with 3 W output average power at 81 MHz repetition rate for 37 nJ chirped pulses, which can be compressed to 66 fs, with 400 KW peak power.

Abstract:We report on the LD-pumped passively mode-locked solid-state laser with SESAM (semiconductor saturable absorber mirror), in which the output beam is single passed through a flat mirror. The CW mode-locking pulse at 1064 nm, with an output power of 5 W, a pulse repetition rate of 98 MHz, and a pulse width of 25.3 ps. The beam quality is M 2 < 1.12 and the optical-optical efficiency is 35.7%.

Abstract:We report on the investigation of continuous-wave (CW) and SEmiconductor Saturable Absorber Mirror (SESAM) mode-locked operation of a Yb:GdScO3 laser. Using a single-transverse-mode, fiber-coupled InGaAs laser diode at 976 nm as a pump source, the Yb:GdScO3 laser delivers 343 mW output power at 1062 nm in the CW regime, which corresponds to a slope efficiency of 52%. Continuous tuning is possible across a wavelength range of 84 nm (1027-1111 nm). Using a commercial SESAM to initiate mode-locking and stabilize soliton-type pulse shaping, the Yb:GdScO3 laser produces pulses as short as 42 fs at 1065.9 nm, with an average output power of 40 mW at 66.89 MHz. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of passively mode-locking with Yb:GdScO3 crystal.

Abstract:To research the passive mode-locked characters of Yb:YAG crystal,three different pump sources be used in the Yb:YAG laser: fiber-coupled laser,diode array and single stripe diode laser in different cavity shape: linear cavity and five mirror cavity,the SESAM was used as the passive-mode locked tool.Got the spectrum band-width of the passive mode-locked trains: 1.1nm,2nm and 2.8nm.Found that the pulse-width of the passive mode-locked laser main relies on: the power intensity of the pump light in the crystal and the emission spectrum of the laser crystal.

Abstract:A diode end-pumped passively mode-locked Nd:GdVO4 laser with semiconductor saturable absorber mirror(SESAM) is presented and comparatively high power output(nearly 1 W) is obtained.Stable continuous mode-locked pulses are obtained with a Z-shaped resonator and the pulse repetition rates are 250 MHz and 100 MHz with two different cavities.With 1% transmission output coupler,average output power of 970mW is obtained with the incident pump power of 6.9W.The opticaloptical conversion efficiency is 13.7%.The Q-switched mode-locked pulse(QML) is studied in theory and experiment.The mode-locked pulse width(FWHM) at 1063nm is 15.1 ps measured by autocorrelator.

Abstract:We report on sub-50 fs pulse generation from a passively mode-locked Yb:SrF2 laser pumped with a spatially single-mode, fiber-coupled laser diode at 976 nm. In the continuous-wave regime, the Yb:SrF2 laser generated a maximum output power of 704 mW at 1048 nm with a threshold of 64 mW and a slope efficiency of 77.2%. A continuous wavelength tuning across 89 nm (1006 - 1095 nm) was achieved with a Lyot filter. By implementing a SEmiconductor Saturable Absorber Mirror (SESAM) for initiating and sustaining the mode-locked operation, soliton pulses as short as 49 fs were generated at 1057 nm with an average output power of 117 mW at a pulse repetition rate of ∼75.9 MHz. The maximum average output power of the mode-locked Yb:SrF2 laser was scaled up to 313 mW for slightly longer pulses of 70 fs at 1049.4 nm, corresponding to a peak power of 51.9 kW and an optical efficiency of 34.7%.

Abstract:We report on the continuous-wave (CW) and, for what we believe to be the first time, passively mode-locked (ML) laser operation of an Yb3+-doped YSr3(PO4)3 crystal. Utilizing a 976-nm spatially single-mode, fiber-coupled laser diode as pump source, the Yb:YSr3(PO4)3 laser delivers a maximum CW output power of 333 mW at 1045.8 nm with an optical efficiency of 55.7% and a slope efficiency of 60.9%. Employing a quartz-based Lyot filter, an impressive wavelength tuning range of 97 nm at the zero level was achieved in the CW regime, spanning from 1007 nm to 1104 nm. In the ML regime, incorporating a commercially available semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM) to initiate and maintain soliton-like pulse shaping, the Yb:YSr3(PO4)3 laser generated pulses as short as 61 fs at 1062.7 nm, with an average output power of 38 mW at a repetition rate of ∼66.7 MHz.

Abstract:We report a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM) with phase shift compensation. The SESAM shows a uniform low-intensity reflectivity and a modulation depth up to 12% for the wavelength from 1000 to 1100 nm. A linear cavity all-normal dispersion Yb-doped fiber laser has proved its mode locking performance for the wavelength of both 1030 nm and 1064 nm.

Abstract:We report on a femtosecond semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM) mode-locked Yb:LuYAG laser. Pumped by a 976 nm single-mode fiber laser, a self-starting mode-locked Yb:LuYAG laser was demonstrated, delivering a 618-mW output power with 140-fs pulses and a 95.4-MHz repetition rate. The output spectrum is centered at 1053 nm with a spectral width of 10.4 nm. To the best of our knowledge, this is the shortest pulse ever generated from a mode-locked Yb:LuYAG laser.

Abstract:We report on the formation of the nanosecond pulse in an erbium-doped fiber laser mode-locked with a molybdenum diselenide (MoSe2)-deposited microfiber. The evolution of the pulse states from slightly chirped picosecond pulse to highly chirped nanosecond pulse was observed. As the pump power increases to a certain value, the picosecond pulse abruptly transforms into nanosecond pulse with the pulse duration of 70 ns and the maximum pulse energy of 21 nJ at the fundamental repetition rate of 3.54 MHz. With the advantages of high pulse energy, large pulse duration, and low peak power, the nanosecond pulse could be destined for amplification and compression to achieve high-power applications promisingly.

Abstract:A quarter-wave plate and the thin film polarizer (TFP) are used for the LD end-pumped passively mode-locked Nd:YVO4 laser with semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM) to obtain a single beam output with a total power of 4.8 W. An optical-optical efficiency is achieved to be 24% for a stable CW mode-locking operation at 1064 nm, with a pulse repetition rate of 70 MHz and pulse width of 16 ps. The multipulse in the pulse sequence is eliminated for reaching a peak power as high as 4 kW.

Abstract:New Yb-doped crystal Yb~(3+)∶Lu_2SiO_5(Yb∶LSO) lasers pumped by diode-laser at 976 nm with passively Q-switched and multi-wavelength continuous-wave(CW) output were demonstrated.The maximum CW output power was 490 mW with the absorbed pump power of(2.57 W.) The slope efficiency and optical-optical conversion efficiency were(22.2%) and(14.2%) respectively.The threshold was(299 mW,) and the laser wavelength was(1084 nm.) The wavelength could be tunable from 1034 to(1085 nm) with a prism.For the Q-switched output,the laser operated at(1058 nm) with an InGaAs semiconductor saturable absorber mirror(SESAM).The Q-switched output slope efficiency of(3.0%) with the maximum absorbed pump power of(1.73 W) was also obtained.The pulse repetition rate was 25～(39 kHz) and was increased with the pump power increased.

Abstract:A diode pumped Nd:YVO 4 semiconductor saturable absorber mirrors (SESAM) passive mode-locked intracavity frequency doubled laser was studied. A type I phase matching LBO frequency doubling crystal was inserted in the cavity. With a pump power of 4.5 W, a 140 mW output of frequency doubled beam was achieved with LBO, while the power of one fundamental frequency beam was 240 mW with repetition rate of 85 MHz, and pulse duration of 5.2 ps.

Abstract:We report the LD-pumped continuous-wave (CW) thin-disk Yb3+-doped Lu2O3 laser at 1034nm. The maximum output power is 1.17W with a 7.8% output coupler and under a pump power of 18.6W. Moreover, intracavity second-harmonic generation (SHG) has also been achieved with a power of 192mW at 517nm by using a LiB3O5 (LBO) nonlinear crystal. The M2 factors are about 1.14 and 1.28 in X and Y directions respectively. The fluctuation of the output power is about 2.7% in 4h.

Abstract:We report on the first sub-60 fs pulse generated from a diode-pumped SESAM mode-locked Yb-laser based on a non-centrosymmetric Yb:YAl3(BO3)4 crystal as a gain medium. In the continuous-wave regime, pumping with a spatially single-mode, fiber-coupled 976 nm InGaAs laser diode, the Yb:YAl3(BO3)4 laser generated 391 mW at 1041.7 nm with a slope efficiency as high as 65.1%, and a wavelength tuning across 59 nm (1019 to 1078 nm) was achieved. By implementing a commercial SESAM to initiate and sustain the soliton type mode-locking, and using only a 1 mm-thick laser crystal, the Yb:YAl3(BO3)4 laser delivered pulses as short as 56 fs at a central wavelength of 1044.6 nm with an average output power of 76 mW at a pulse repetition rate of ∼67.55 MHz. To the best of our knowledge, this result represents the shortest pulses ever achieved from Yb:YAB crystal.

Abstract:We report an oblique incidence on semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM) method in the LID pumped passively mode-locked Nd:YVO4 picosecond laser in this article, making SESAM as the intracavity reflecting mirror, which produces maximum average output power of 1 W, pulse repetition rate of 120 MHz, and stable continuous mode-locked pulse at 1064 nm with the pulse width of 19.2 ps. To our knowledge, this was the first demonstration that got CW mode-locking in standing-wave laser with a reflected mirror SESAM in oblique incidence way.
