Abstract:The growth of transcendental meromorphic functions in terms of their orders is investigated in this paper when they and their derivatives have radially distributed values following the discussion of the author. A simple and elementary way to study such subjects is exhibited in this paper; that is, once an estimation of B ( r , *) in terms of a few C ( r ,**) in the Nevanlinna theory on angular domains is established, we can produce one result that the order of a mermorphic function with radially distributed values related to C ( r ,**) can be estimated under the assumption of existence of suitable deficient value. The results obtained in this paper lead us to a new singular direction in terms of Nevanlinna characterstic instead of the order of meromorphic functions.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the value distribution of holomorphic curves on an angular domain from the point of view of potential theory and establish the first and second fundamental theorems corresponding to those theorems of Ahlfors-Shimizu, Nevanlinna, and Tsuji on meromorphic functions in an angular domain, which have not been established before in other references. As applications of these theorems, we introduce the singular directions of holomorphic curves and prove their existences and investigate the growth of holomorphic curves with radially distributed hyperplanes and uniqueness of holomorphic curves in an angular domain. The obtained results are transferred to the algebroid functions.

Abstract:In this paper we make a further discussion of a relationship between the number of fixed-points and distribution of singular values along the round annuli centered at the origin of a transcendental meromorphic function. To attain our purpose we first establish a fundamental inequality for the modulus of derivative of a holomorphic covering mapping whose image is an annulus by virtue of the hyperbolic metric. The inequality is of independent significance. We make a simple survey on some domain constants for hyperbolic domains.

Abstract:A value on the extended complex plane is a radially distributed value of a transcendental meromorphic function if most of points at which the value is assumed distribute closely along a finite number of rays from the origin. In this chapter, we study the growth order of a meromorphic function with two radially distributed values and a distinct deficient value (in other words, this hints a condition under which deficient values do not exist). We respectively treat two cases: one is without assumption about the growth of the function considered and the other is under assumption of the function being of the finite lower order. The Nevanlinna characteristic for an angle plays crucial role in the investigation of this subject. Actually, the idea to study this subject is the following: the Nevanlinna characteristic T (r, f) for {vertical bar z vertical bar < r} is controlled by the corresponding proximate function m(r,*) to a deficient value; there exists a solid relation between m(r,*) and the sum of B(r,*) on the finitely many angular domains; and according to some fundamental theorems, we estimate B(r,*) in terms of two C(r,**), which describes the number of poles of the function ** in the angle. Thus T (r, f) is controlled in terms of the number of value-points in the angles. This way also produces discussion of the growth order dealing with other type of radially distributed values. Finally, we simply survey the background and other main results of the subject.

Abstract:The theory of value distribution of meromorphic functions is developed in two directions: module distribution and argument distribution. This article is a survey on two aspects of the value distribution of meromorphic functions with respect to arguments and it also includes some new results. The first part is to survey a characterization of growth of a transcendental meromorphic function for which the number of a-points in certain curvilinear sectors, specially in angular domains, is restricted. The second part is devoted to the discussion of singular directions: the Julia, Borel directions and T-directions. In the final section, some problems will be given for further discussion.

Abstract:This chapter is devoted to discussing singular values of a transcendental meromorphic function. The singular value is that in any neighborhood of which the inverse of the function contains a multiple-valued branch. A value is a singular value if and only if it is an asymptotic value or a critical value. We show the construction of the parabolic simply connected Riemann surface associated with a fixed meromorphic function, and point out that every boundary point of the Riemann surface is an asymptotic value of the function. Next we consider dense properties of singularities of the inverse of a meromorphic function including relationships among singular values and between the number of direct singularities and the growth order. We then exhibit Eremenko's construction of a meromorphic function with every value on the extended complex plane as its asymptotic value. Finally, we discuss the existence of (repelling) fixed-points of a meromorphic function of finite type, that is, the set of its singular values is bounded, and consider the case when the singular values do not distribute along a sequence of annuli.

Abstract:There have been many extensions of the Nevanlinna's five-values theorem for meromorphic functions to the case of meromorphic maps into Pn(C). We improve these results by considering the degenerate case and using the weaker condition ‘f−1(H)⊆g−1(H)’ instead of the usual one ‘f−1(H)=g−1(H)’ for some hyperplanes H among the given hyperplanes. Our main theorems contain not only many well-known results but also more new conclusions. The sharpness of our results in some aspects is also explained.

Abstract:This paper gives a generalization of the classical Borel’s Lemma. Then as an application of this generalized Borel’s Lemma, a uniqueness theorem for two linearly non-degenerate meromorphic maps of ℂm into ℙn(ℂ) (n ≥ 2) sharing 2n + 2 hyperplanes in general position is proved.

Abstract:We prove uniqueness problems for meromorphic inner functions on the upper half-plane. In these problems we consider spectral data depending partially or fully on the spectrum, derivative values at the spectrum, Clark measure or the spectrum of the negative of a meromorphic inner function. Moreover we consider applications of these uniqueness results to inverse spectral theory of canonical Hamiltonian systems and obtain generalizations of Borg-Levinson two-spectra theorem for canonical Hamiltonian systems and unique determination of a Hamiltonian from its spectral measure under some conditions.

Abstract:Let $ H_1,\dots,H_{2n+2}$ be \emph{generic} $(2n+2)$ hyperplanes in $\mathbb{P}^n.$ It is proved that if meromorphic maps $ f $ and $ g $ of $\mathbb{C}^m $ into $\mathbb{P}^n $ satisfy $ f^*(H_j)=g^*(H_j)$ $(1\leq j\leq 2n+2)$ and $ g $ is algebraically non-degenerate then $ f=g.$ This result is essentially implied by the proof of Hirotaka Fujimoto in papers [Nagoya Math. J., 1976(64): 117--147] and [Nagoya Math. J., 1978(71): 13--24]. This note gives a complete proof of the above uniqueness result.

Abstract:We investigate uniform perfectness of the Julia set of a transcendental meromorphic function with finitely many poles and prove that the Julia set of such a meromorphic function is not uniformly perfect if it has only bounded components. The Julia set of an entire function is uniformly perfect if and only if the Julia set including infinity is connected and every component of the Fatou set is simply connected. Furthermore if an entire function has a finite deficient value in the sense of Nevanlinna, then it has no multiply connected stable domains. Finally, we give some examples of meromorphic functions with uniformly perfect Julia sets.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of a broader class of functions which are meromorphic outside a compact totally disconnected set. We shall establish the connections between the Fatou components and the singularities of the inverse function and, accordingly, give sufficient conditions for the non-existence of wandering domains or Baker domains, and for the Julia set to be the Riemann sphere. Through the discussion of permutability of such functions, we shall construct several transcendental ineromorphic functions which have Baker domains and wandering domains with special properties; for example, wandering and Baker domains with a critical value on the boundary and a wandering domain with the boundary being a Jordan curve (some such examples for entire functions were exhibited in other papers) and those of non-finite type which have no wandering domains.
