Abstract: This paper is devoted to establish sufficient conditions under which a transcendental meromorphic function has no unbounded Fatou components and to extend some results for entire functions to meromorphic functions. Actually, we shall mainly discuss non-existence of unbounded wandering domains of a meromorphic function. The case for a composition of finitely many meromorphic function with at least one of them being transcendental can be also investigated in the argument of this paper.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss the rational maps F_λ (z) = z^n + λ /z^n ,n ⩾ 2 with the positive real parameter λ . It is shown that the immediately attracting basin B λ of ∞ for F λ is always a Jordan domain if the Julia set of F λ is not a Cantor set. Furthermore, B λ is a quasidisk if there is no parabolic fixed point on the boundary of B λ . It is also shown that if the Julia set of F λ is connected, then it is locally connected and all Fatou components are Jordan domains. Finally, a complete description to the problem when the Julia set is a Sierpiński curve is given.

Abstract:Let f:C↦Cˆ be a transcendental meromorphic function with at most finitely many poles. We mainly investigated the existence of the Baker wandering domains of f(z) and proved, among others, that if f(z) has a Baker wandering domain U, then for all sufficiently large n, fn(U) contains a round annulus whose module tends to infinity as n→∞ and so for some 0<d<1,Mc(r,a,f)d⩽mc(r,a,f),r∈G, where G is a set of positive numbers with infinite logarithmic measure. Therefore, we give out several criterion conditions for non-existence of the Baker wandering domains.

Abstract:The possibilities for limit functions on a Fatou component for the iteration of a single polynomial or rational function are well understood and quite restricted. In non-autonomous iteration, where one considers compositions of arbitrary polynomials with suitably bounded degrees and coefficients, one should observe a far greater range of behavior. We show this is indeed the case and we exhibit a bounded sequence of quadratic polynomials which has a bounded Fatou component on which one obtains as limit functions every member of the classical Schlicht family of normalized univalent functions on the unit disc. The proof is based on quasiconformal surgery and the use of high iterates of a quadratic polynomial with a Siegel disc which closely approximate the identity on compact subsets. Careful bookkeeping using the hyperbolic metric is required to control the errors in approximating the desired limit functions and ensure that these errors ultimately tend to zero.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove that the ratio of the modulus of the iterates of two points in an escaping Fatou component could be bounded even if the orbit of the component contains a sequence of annuli whose moduli tend to infinity, and this cannot happen when the maximal modulus of the meromorphic function is uniformly large enough. In this way we extend certain related results for entire functions to meromorphic functions with infinitely many poles.

Abstract: In this paper, we show that there exist transcendental meromorphic functions with a cycle of 2-periodic Fatou components, where one is simply connected while the other is doubly connected. In particular, the doubly connected Fatou component can be an attracting, parabolic, or Baker domain. Thus, this settles the problem of whether a doubly connected periodic Fatou component must be a Herman ring. We also prove that there exists a transcendental meromorphic function with a wandering domain that has no eventual connectivity. In addition, we show that the connectivity sequence of this wandering domain is periodic with period two. This solves a problem about the nonexistence of the eventual connectivity of wandering domains and gives a different example constructed by Ferreira [J. London Math. Soc. (2022), DOI:10.1112/jlms.12613].

Abstract:We study the behaviour of a transcendental entire map $ f\colon \mathbb{C}\to\mathbb{C} $ on an unbounded invariant Fatou component $ U $, assuming that infinity is accessible from $ U $. It is well-known that $ U $ is simply connected. Hence, by means of a Riemann map $ \varphi\colon\mathbb{D}\to U $ and the associated inner function, the boundary of $ U $ is described topologically in terms of the disjoint union of clusters sets, each of them consisting of one or two connected components in $ \mathbb{C} $. Moreover, under more precise assumptions on the distribution of singular values, it is proven that periodic and escaping boundary points are dense in $ \partial U $, being all periodic boundary points accessible from $ U $. Finally, under the same conditions, the set of singularities of $ g $ is shown to have zero Lebesgue measure.

Abstract:Let $f$ be an entire function with the form $f(z)=P(e^z)/e^z$, where $P$ is a polynomial with degree at least $2$ and $P(0)\neq 0$. We prove that the area of the complement of the fast escaping set (hence the Fatou set) of $f$ in a horizontal strip of width $2\pi$ is finite. In particular, the corresponding result can be applied to the sine family $\alpha\sin(z+\beta)$, where $\alpha\neq 0$ and $\beta\in\mathbb{C}$.

Abstract:Let $f$ be a transcendental entire function and $U$ be a Fatou component of $f$. We show that if $U$ is an escaping wandering domain of $f$, then most boundary points of $U$ (in the sense of harmonic measure) are also escaping. In the other direction we show that if enough boundary points of $U$ are escaping, then $U$ is an escaping Fatou component. Some applications of these results are given; for example, if $I(f)$ is the escaping set of $f$, then $I(f)\cup\{\infty\}$ is connected.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of a broader class of functions which are meromorphic outside a compact totally disconnected set. We shall establish the connections between the Fatou components and the singularities of the inverse function and, accordingly, give sufficient conditions for the non-existence of wandering domains or Baker domains, and for the Julia set to be the Riemann sphere. Through the discussion of permutability of such functions, we shall construct several transcendental ineromorphic functions which have Baker domains and wandering domains with special properties; for example, wandering and Baker domains with a critical value on the boundary and a wandering domain with the boundary being a Jordan curve (some such examples for entire functions were exhibited in other papers) and those of non-finite type which have no wandering domains.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the residual Julia sets of meromorphic functions. In fact, we prove that if a meromorphic function f belongs to the class S and its Julia set is locally connected, then the residual Julia set of f is empty if and only if its Fatou set F(f) has a completely invariant component or consists of only two components. We also show that if f is a meromorphic function which is not of the form alpha + (z-alpha)(-k)e(g(z)), where k is a natural number, a is a complex number and g is an entire function. then f has buried components provided that f has no completely invariant components and its Julia set J(f) is disconnected. Moreover, if F(f) has an infinitely connected component, then the singleton buried components are dense in J(f). This generalizes a result of Baker and Dominguez. Finally, we give some examples of meromorphic functions with buried points but without any buried components.

Abstract:We look at the maximal entropy (MME) measure of the boundaries of connected components of the Fatou set of a rational map of degree greater than or equal to 2. We show that if there are infinitely many Fatou components, and if either the Julia set is disconnected or the map is hyperbolic, then there can be at most one Fatou component whose boundary has positive MME measure. We also replace hyperbolicity by the more general hypothesis of geometric finiteness.

Abstract:Let f(z) be a transcendental meromorphic function. The paper investigates, using the hyperbolic metric, the relation between the forward orbit P(f) of singularities of f(-1) and limit functions of iterations of f in its Fatou components. It is mainly proved, among other things, that for a wandering domain U, all the limit functions of {f(n)\(U)} lie in the derived set of P(f) and that if f(np)\ v --> q (n --> +infinity) for a Fatou component V, then either q is in the derived set of S-p(f) or f(p)(q) = q. As applications of main theorems, some sufficient conditions of the non-existence of wandering domains and Baker domains are given.
