SECONDARY DISTURBANCE INFORMATION AND ITS APPLICATIONS IN RELAY PROTECTION

Abstract:When the fault occurs in power systems, it always follows the secondary disturbance, such as switch of the circuit breaker on/off or evolving fault, which will cause protection relays operate incorrectly, even lead to blackout or the accident of stability. The paper firstly defines secondary disturbance and analyses its information, then presents the calculation of secondary disturbance information based on super-imposed principle. Finally, the effect of secondary disturbance on protection relays and the possibility of new protection are explored using secondary disturbance information.
