Abstract:Single layers of GdFeCo (40 nm), GdFeCoSi (40 nm), TbFeCo (40 nm), and their bilayers and trilayers with the compositions near those in the medium of magnetic super-resolution magneto-optical (MO) storage made by sputtering on glass substrate with buffer and capping layers of SiN (5 nm) were studied by measuring the hysteresis loop and by ferromagnetic resonance (FMR). TbFeCo layer shows strong perpendicular anisotropy. GdFeCoSi layer shows easy-plane anisotropy. However, in some films an inverted loop was observed in the direction of film normal. FMR shows the existence of two phases with, respectively, easy-plane and easy-normal anisotropy, which explains the inverted loop. FMR on a GdFeCo layer shows a cone anisotropy with easy direction at 30° with respect to film normal. TbFeCo/GdFeCoSi shows a double Hc hysteresis loop and an easy-plane anisotropy for the GdFeCoSi sublayer. In GdFeCo/GdFeCoSi bilayers, both sublayers show easy-cone anisotropy with directions at 70° and 60° from the normal. GdFeCo/GdFeCoSi/TbFeCo trilayer film shows predominantly the resonance peak of the GdFeCoSi sublayer with easy-cone anisotropy of about 60° and a unidirectional anisotropy due to the interfacial exchange effect.
