Abstract:For a two spin-1 particles system, we derive a new Bell's type inequality for local hidden variables model. For the singlet state for two spin-1 particles, we show that the inequality is violated while it is satisfied for the direct product state.

Abstract:The proof of nonlocality without inequalities for three-qubit W and Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states is generalized to N-qubit states. The violations for quantum mechanics against local realism is found near to 100% for W states with the increasement of qubits, while to 0 for GHZ states.

Abstract:The conceptually puzzling features of quantum mechanics as a statistical theory all have their source in the impossibility of relating the probability assignments defined by the quantum state to distributions over determinate values of the physical magnitudes. While some interpretations of quantum mechanics, as well as “hidden variable” modifications of the theory, have proposed several constructions for assigning values to magnitudes (beyond the value assignments defined by the quantum state alone), a variety of theorems exist which impose severe restrictions on such theoretical constructions. This note will deal with Bell's proof (in [2]), that any hidden variable theory satisfying a physically reasonable locality condition is characterized by an inequality which is inconsistent with the quantum statistics. Bell's result has initiated a series of experiments designed to refute the entire class of local hidden variable theories. We show that Bell's inequality actually characterizes a feature of hidden variable theories which is much weaker than locality in the sense considered physically motivated.

Abstract:We study the nonlocality of arbitrary dimensional bipartite quantum states. By computing the maximal violation of a set of multi-setting Bell inequalities, an analytical and computable lower bound has been derived for general two-qubit states. This bound gives the necessary condition that a two-qubit state admits no local hidden variable models. The lower bound is shown to be better than that from the CHSH inequality in judging the nonlocality of some quantum states. The results are generalized to the case of high dimensional quantum states, and a sufficient condition for detecting the non-locality has been presented.

Abstract:While Bell nonlocality of a bipartite system is counterintuitive, multipartite nonlocality in our many-body world turns out to be even more so. Recent theoretical study reveals in a theory-agnostic manner that genuine multipartite nonlocal correlations cannot be explained by any causal theory involving fewer-partite nonclassical resources and global shared randomness. Here, we provide a Bell-type inequality as a test for genuine multipartite nonlocality in network by exploiting a matrix representation of the causal structure of a multipartite system. We further present experimental demonstrations that both four-photon GHZ state and generalized four-photon GHZ state significantly violate the inequality, i.e., the observed four-partite correlations resist explanations involving three-way nonlocal resources subject to local operations and common shared randomness, hence confirming that nature is boundless multipartite nonlocal. https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.129.150401 © 2022 American Physical Society

Abstract:We introduce a fresh scheme based on the local hidden variable models to quantify nonlocality for arbitrarily high-dimensional quantum systems. Our scheme explores the minimal amount of white noise that must be added to the system in order to make the system local and realistic. Moreover, the scheme has a clear geometric significance and is numerically computable due to powerful computational and theoretical methods for the class of convex optimization problems known as semidefinite programs.

Abstract:Choosing four entangled states to form an orthogonal and complete basis for a two-particle system, we argue that a local hidden variable model should give the probability of each entangled state if the two-particle system is described by a mixed state, Under these conditions, a Bell inequality is derived for the Werner states, and a nonlocality proof can be given for nonsequential measurements.

Abstract:Entanglement, the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) paradox and Bell’s failure of local-hiddenvariable (LHV) theories are three historically famous forms of “quantum nonlocality”. We give experimental criteria for these three forms of nonlocality in multi-particle systems, with the aim of better understanding the transition from microscopic to macroscopic nonlocality. We examine the nonlocality of N separated spin J systems. First, we obtain multipartite Bell inequalities that address the correlation between spin values measured at each site, and then we review spin squeezing inequalities that address the degree of reduction in the variance of collective spins. The latter have been particularly useful as a tool for investigating entanglement in Bose-Einstein condensates (BEC). We present solutions for two topical quantum states: multi-qubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states, and the ground state of a two-well BEC.

Abstract:Violation of the CHSH inequality supposedly demonstrates an irreconcilable conflict between quantum mechanics and local, realistic hidden variable theories. We show that the mathematical assumptions underlying the proof of the CHSH inequality are, in fact, incompatible with the physics of the experiments testing such inequality. This implies that we cannot dismiss local realistic hidden variable theories on the basis of currently available experimental data yet. However, we also show that an experimental proof of CHSH inequality is, in principle, possible, but it is unclear how to implement, in practice, such an experiment.

Abstract:We prove that for a three-qubit system in the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state, locality per se is in conflict with the perfect GHZ correlations. The proof does not in any way use the realism assumption and can lead to a refutation of locality. We also provide inequalities that are imposed by locality. The experimental confirmation of the present reasoning may imply a genuine quantum nonlocality and will deepen our understanding of nonlocality of nature.

Abstract:We derive a set of Bell-type inequalities for arbitrarily high-dimensional systems, based on the assumption of partial separability in the hybrid local-nonlocal hidden variable model. Partially entangled states would not violate the inequalities, and thus upon violation, these Bell-type inequalities are sufficient conditions to detect the full $N$-particle entanglement and validity of the hybrid local-nonlocal hidden variable description.

Abstract:AbstractBell inequalities are consequences of local realism while violated by quantum mechanics. In particle physics, entangled high energy particles can be produced from a common source, and the decay of each particle plays the role of measurement. However, in a hidden variable theory, the decay could be determined by hidden variables. This loophole killed such approaches to Bell test in particle physics. It is a special form of measurement-setting or free-will loophole, which also exists in other systems. Using entangled baryons, we present new inequalities of local realism with the explicit assumption of the dependence of the decays on hidden variables, as well as the consideration of the statistical mixture of polarizations and the separation of local hidden variables for objects with spacelike distances. These violations closes the measurement-setting loophole once and for all. We propose to use the processes $$\eta _c\rightarrow \varLambda {\bar{\varLambda }}$$ηc→ΛΛ¯ and $$\chi _{c0} \rightarrow \varLambda {\bar{\varLambda }}$$χc0→ΛΛ¯ to test our inequalities, and show that their violations are likely to be observed with the data already collected in BESIII.
Existence of strongly nonlocal sets of three states in any N-partite system

Abstract:The notion of strong nonlocality, which refers to local irreducibility of a set of orthogonal multipartite quantum states across each bipartition of the subsystems, was put forward by Halder et al. in [Phys. Rev. Lett. 122, 040403 (2019)]. Here, we show the existence of three orthogonal quantum states in (C^2)^{\otimes N} that cannot be perfectly distinguished locally across any bipartition of the subsystems. Specifically, all these three states are genuinely entangled, among which two are the N-qubit GHZ pairs. Since any three locally indistinguishable states are always locally irreducible, the three N-partite orthogonal states we present are strongly nonlocal. Thus, the caridnality of strongly nonlocal sets here is dramatically smaller than all known ones.

Abstract:Quantum nonlocality as a witness of entanglement plays a crucial role in various fields. Existing quantum monogamy relations rule out the possibility of simultaneous violations of any Bell inequalities with partial statistics generated from one Bell experiment on any multipartite entanglement or post-quantum sources. In this paper, we report an efficient method to construct multipartite Bell test based on any Bell inequalities. We demonstrate that violating these monogamy relations can dynamically witness simultaneous Bell nonlocalities of partial systems. We conduct a tripartite experiment to verify quantum nonlocalities by violating a tripartite monogamy relation using a maximally entangled two-photon state.

Abstract:Nonlocality captures one of the counterintuitive features of nature that defies classical intuition. Recent investigations reveal that our physical world's nonlocality is at least tripartite; i.e., genuinely tripartite nonlocal correlations in nature cannot be reproduced by any causal theory involving bipartite nonclassical resources and unlimited shared randomness. Here, by allowing the fair sampling assumption and postselection, we experimentally demonstrate such genuine tripartite nonlocality in a network under strict locality constraints that are ensured by spacelike separating all relevant events and employing fast quantum random number generators and high-speed polarization measurements. In particular, for a photonic quantum triangular network we observe a locality-loophole-free violation of the Bell-type inequality by 7.57 standard deviations for a postselected tripartite Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state of fidelity (93.13 +/- 0.24)%, which convincingly disproves the possibility of simulating genuine tripartite nonlocality by bipartite nonlocal resources with globally shared randomness.
All-Versus-Nothing Violation of Local Realism by Swapping Entanglement

Abstract:The usual entanglement swapping protocol can entangle two particles that never interact. Here we demonstrate an all-versus-nothing violation of local realism for a partial entanglement swapping process. A Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt-type inequality for two particles entangled by entanglement swapping is proposed for a practical experiment and can be violated quantum mechanically up to 4 beyond Cirel'son's bound 2sqr(2). Our result uncovers the intriguing nonlocal character of entanglement swapping and may lead to a conclusive (loophole-free) test of local realism versus quantum mechanics. The experimental test of the nonlocality under current technology is also discussed.
