Since the method is exact for linear problems, it is especially precise for quasilinear problems, which are frequently encountered in the real world. The method is based on a new approach to the computat ion of a matrix exponential. Abstract:Based on the precise time-integration method, a subsection precise time-integration method was developed to calculate the dynamic response of linear time-invariant structures. It can be used in various kinds of systems excited by external forces. Using the linear or quadratic polynomials to approximate the loading item, the dynamic response was computed via the precise time-integration method and iteration method. Compared with other traditional methods, such as Newmark and Wilson methods or direct integration of the state equation, the proposed method gives more accurate results, and has a higher computation efficiency.

Abstract:A new approach which is a direct integration method with integral model (DIM-IM) to solve dynamic governing equations is presented. The governing equations are integrated into the integral equations. An algorithm with explicit and predict-correct and self-starting and fourth-order accuracy to integrate the integral equations is given. Theoretical analysis and numerical examples show that DIM-IM discribed in this paper suitable for strong nonlinear and non-conservative system have higher accuracy than central difference, Houbolt, Newmark and Wilson-Theta methods.

Abstract:It is always a bottleneck to design an effective algorithm for linear time-varying systems in engineering applications. For a class of systems, whose coefficients matrix is based on time-varying polynomial, a modified highly precise direct integration (VHPD-T method) was presented. Through introducing new variables and expanding dimensions, the system can be transformed into a time-invariant system, in which the transfer matrix can be computed for once and used forever with a highly precise direct integration method. The method attains higher precision than the common methods (e.g. RK4 and power series) and high efficiency in computation. Some numerical examples demonstrate the validity and efficiency of the method proposed.

Abstract:This article investigates a novel method for time-varying systems with an impact term; we call it a modified homogenized highly precise direct integration method. Modified homogenized highly precise direct integration method can deal with the time-varying nonhomogeneous systems effectively by direct integration with high precision. Even though it is often difficult to select the time step size of integration properly for stiff problems, modified homogenized highly precise direct integration method can effectively deal with the this problem with a large time step size. By introducing new variants twice, modified homogenized highly precise direct integration method can easily deal with the nonhomogeneous term by a novel way, inherit the advantages of highly precise direct integration method and avoid the calculation of inverse matrix. The convergency and efficiency analyses are given in this article. Several numerical simulations and an application example are presented to demonstrate the high accuracy, effectiveness and application for engineering problems of modified homogenized highly precise direct integration method.

Abstract:In this work, an effective hybrid implicit method is proposed to analyze linear and nonlinear dynamic problems. The proposed hybrid method is a type of three sub-step method and is unconditionally stable. New method has multiple free parameters which can be employed to control accuracy and numerical dissipation. The new method can obtain controllable numerical dissipation which ranges from the non-dissipative case to the asymptotic annihilating case. Meanwhile, high computation accuracy than classical sub-step methods can be obtained. The new method can obtain the identical effective stiffness matrix for three sub-steps to save computational cost and internal storage for linear cases. Verified by numerical examples, the new method has simple calculation procedure, and is efficient for linear dynamics. Especially for nonlinear dynamics, the new method shows high solution accuracy and excellent energy conservation performance when compared with other methods.

High accuracy least-squares solutions of nonlinear differential equations

Abstract:This study shows how to obtain least-squares solutions to initial and boundary value problems of ordinary nonlinear differential equations. The proposed method begins using an approximate solution obtained by any existing integrator. Then, a least-squares fitting of this approximate solution is obtained using a constrained expression, derived from Theory of Connections. In this expression, the differential equation constraints are embedded and are always satisfied. The resulting constrained expression is then used as an initial guess in a Newton iterative process that increases the solution accuracy to machine error level in no more than two iterations for most of the problems considered. An analysis of speed and accuracy has been conducted for this method using two nonlinear differential equations. For non-smooth solutions or for long integration times, a piecewise approach is proposed. The highly accurate value estimated at the final time is then used as the new initial guess for the next time range, and this process is repeated for subsequent time ranges. This approach has been applied and validated solving the Duffing oscillator obtaining a final solution error on the order of 10-12. To complete the study, a final numerical test is provided for a boundary value problem with a known solution.

Abstract:The accuracy of characteristic analysis is as necessary for an explicit integration scheme as the stability property. In this paper, the accuracy characteristics of several explicit integration schemes for solving the dynamic equation with damping are studied to comprehensively understand their behaviors. The order of accuracy is obtained from local truncation errors. The dissipation and dispersion properties are analyzed. A numerical example is provided to verify the theoretical conclusions. It is shown that the scheme provided by Du et al. is favorable for dynamic analysis.

Abstract:A new step-by-step integral procedure of dynamics equations is presented. The general expression of solution of dynamics equations is obtained on the basis of the homogenous analytical solutions of dynamics equations. The explicit analytical integration algorithm, which is characterized by fourth-order accuracy, self-starting and self-correcting, is employed to discretize the equivalent load terms at the right-hand terms of the equations. The transfer matrix is not limited by time step size. If the group solution method is used, the size of stiffness matrix and mass matrix will be reduced and the method will be more cost-effective. Numerical examples show that the results are highly accurate in comparison with those of Newmark, Wilson- Houbolt and central difference method. Moreover, the present results are closer to the exact solution, than those of other methods. In addition, the method is also suitable for treatment of nonlinear dynamics problems since no iterative procedure is needed in the present algorithm.

Abstract:In this article we apply the first integral method to construct the exact solutions of some nonlinear fractional partial differential equations (PDES) in the sense of modified Riemann–Liouville derivatives, namely the nonlinear fractional Zoomeron equation and the nonlinear fractional Klein- Gordon- Zakharov system of equations. Based on a nonlinear fractional complex transformation, these two nonlinear fractional equations can be turned into nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODE) of integer order. This method has more advantages: it is direct and concise. Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems

Abstract:The asymptotic integration problem has a rich historical background and has been extensively studied in the context of ordinary differential equations, delay differential equations, dynamic equations, and impulsive differential equations. However, the problem has not been explored for impulsive dynamic equations due to the lack of essential tools such as principal and nonprincipal solutions, as well as certain compactness results. In this work, by making use of the principal and nonprincipal solutions of the associated linear dynamic equation, recently obtained in [Acta Appl. Math. 188, 2 (2023)], we investigate the asymptotic integration problem for a specific class of nonlinear impulsive dynamic equations. Under certain conditions, we prove that the given impulsive dynamic equation possesses solutions with a prescribed asymptotic behavior at infinity. These solutions can be expressed in terms of principal and nonprincipal solutions as in differential equations. In addition, the necessary compactness results are also established. Our findings are particularly valuable for better understanding the long-time behavior of solutions, modeling real-world problems, and analyzing the solutions of boundary value problems on semi-infinite intervals.

Abstract:Dynamics response of systems to impact or loading may be effectively treated by direct integration. However, it is often difficult to select the time-step of integration properly, especially in the case which the system is badly stiff. High Precision Direct integration based on variational principle is given (HPD-VP) for homogeneous systems and HHPD-VP method for the nonhomogeneous systems are given. This method not only takes the advantage of variational principle formula, which is much precise an d is stiff A-stable, but also can avoid the truncation error of the computer. For the large systems, especially, the systems with different frequency or the stiff systems, our methods are stable, accurate and efficient. Numerical experiments show the convergence order of the scheme derived from the variational principle, and is much precise and is effective in engineering.
Two Precise Time-Integration Methods for Structural Dynamic Analysis

Abstract:Similarities and differences in solving dynamic equations between precise time-integration method with augmented matrix (PTI-AM) and extended precise time-integration method (EPTI) were analyzed. The explicit, discrete and recursive expressions for both methods were deduced, respectively, with the evolutionary random excitations in a general combined form of polynomial, exponential, and sinusoid/cosine functions. Both recursive expressions can be transformed into polynomial functions corresponding to the integral steps. With the same number of terms in the Taylor series, the recursive expression for EPTI contains additional high-order terms besides all the terms in PTI-AM. Therefore, EPTI has higher precision than PTI-AM does. If those additional high-order terms are neglected, the two methods have an identical discrete and recursive expression. In this respect, the two methods are essentially the same despite of different programming realization. An engineering example was presented, showing that the computing precision of both methods was as high as 10-significant-figures, and the computing time of EPTI was over 1 order of magnitude less than that of PTI-AM.
Two Third-Order Explicit Integration Algorithms with Controllable Numerical Dissipation for Second-Order Nonlinear Dynamics

Abstract:No literature has reported an explicit integration algorithm to achieve controllable numerical dissipation and identical third-order accuracy simultaneously. This paper develops two novel explicit integration algorithms to achieve this goal well without increasing computational complexity. In detail, two novel methods are identical third-order accuracy, so avoiding the order reduction for solving damped and forced vibrations, and both of them provide a full range of dissipation control via adjusting their unique algorithmic parameter. Apart from these two highlights, two novel methods embed another two enjoyably advantages. One is to present a significantly larger stability limit than the published third-order explicit schemes. Two novel methods provide the maximum stability limit, reaching 23 in the non-dissipative case, getting close to four. The other is to maintain a relatively little computational cost. Two novel methods require explicit solutions only twice within each time step. Therefore, two novel methods are significantly superior to other composite sub-step explicit schemes with respect to the accuracy, stability, dissipation control, and computational cost. Numerical examples are also performed to confirm the numerical performance and superiority of two novel explicit methods.

Abstract:Journal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control, Ahead of Print. This study presents a reliable and precise solver for solving several kinds of nonlinear evolution equations. The subequation approach is the basic ingredient of this solver. In this regard, a solver is created to precisely resolve and depict the nonlinear evolution equations' whole wave structures. This analysis offers the whole information obtained in the representation of solutions to these equations. The robust solver offers hyperbolic, trigonometric, and rational forms of solutions. A set of test problems drawn from the literature are provided in order to validate the accuracy of the proposed solver. The solutions that were discovered could be useful for a vital recent applied science observations. The method that was demonstrated is a tool that mathematics, engineers, and physicists can use as a box solver. Theoretical analysis and reported solutions show that the suggested solver is suitable and efficacious.
