Abstract:The title compound, (1R,2R,3R,5S)-3-(3-chlorophenyl)-1-hydroxy-2-methyl-6-phenyl-8-oxa-6-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octan-7-one, was synthesized and characterized by H-1 and C-13 NMR and HRMS spectroscopy. Its absolute molecular configuration was investigated by X-ray crystallography. The crystal structure analysis revealed that the structure exhibits intermolecular hydrogen bonds of the type O-H horizontal ellipsis O. The methyl group and chlorophenyl group are located in the cis configuration. The conformation is stabilized by weak intermolecular C-H... O interactions.

Abstract:A novel protocol for the facile synthesis of chiral 3-substituted 1,3,4,5-tetrahydrobenzo[e] [1,4]diazepin-2-ones via a domino reaction has been developed, which involves a cascade of S(N)2 nucleophilic substitution and copper-catalyzed C-N coupling reactions of a-amino acid amides and orthohalobenzyl halides. This protocol has some merits, such as one-pot process, easy operation, a wide scope of substrates. Furthermore, no heavy racemization occurs during the reaction.

Abstract:Two N,N'-bichiral lariat crown ethers, (S,S)-1,7-bis(4-benzyl-5-hydroxy-2-oxo-3-azapentyl)-1,7-diaza-12-crown-4 (1a) and (S,S)-1,7-bis(4-benzyloxazolin-2-yl-methyl)-1,7-diaza-12-crown-4 (1b), were obtained by alkylation of 1,7-diaza-12-crown-4 with (S)-(1-hydroxy-3-phenylprop-2-yl)-chloroacetamide or (S)-2-chloromethyl-4-benzyloxazoline, which were obtained by the reaction of (S)-2-amino-3-phenylpropanol with triethyl orthochloroacetate. la was used successfully in the chiral separations of D/L-carnitine by capillary zone electrophoresis. Cu(II) complex of 1b was applied to the asymmetric cyclopropanation of 1,1-diphenylethylene with alkyl diazoacetate.

Abstract:A diversity of unprecedented chiral aza-crown ethers were synthesized straightforwardly from readily available and inexpensive aza-crown ethers. Catalyzed by a chiral phosphoric acid, desymmetrization of an array of symmetric N-arylated aza-crown ethers through tert-amino reaction proceeded efficiently under mild conditions to produce novel tetrahydroquinoline-fused aza-crown ethers in good to excellent yields with up to 96% ee. Our strategy opens a new route to functionalized chiral crown ethers.

Abstract:Unprecedented synthesis of chiral (aza)crown ethers of calix[4]arene derivatives bearing a carboxyl amide bridge was described. The synthesis proceeds through condensation of the corresponding dinitriles with optically active 1,2-aminoalcohols, and is catalyzed by the ZnCl 2 Lewis acid at elevated temperature in a very efficient one-pot process. The cavity of calix[4](aza)crowns can encapsulate methanol molecules by O-H⋯п interaction, which has been confirmed by X-ray crystal structures and ESI-MS.

Abstract:A convenient and efficient Cu(OAc)2-mediated N-heteroannulation reaction of [60]fullerene with N-sulfonylated o-amino-aromatic methyl ketones or O-alkyl oximes has been reported for the synthesis of novel and scarce [60]fullerene-fused tetrahydroazepinones and -azepinonimines in a highly selective manner. Moreover, a possible mechanism involving two pathways is proposed on the basis of the experimental observations.

Abstract:Bridging of calix[4]arene derivatives with optically active subunits derived from chiral LID-amino alcohols has resulted in two novel calix[4]azacrowns enantiomers S-C51H64NO7 center dot CH3OH center dot H2O (S-1) and R-C51H64NO7 center dot CH3OH center dot H2O (R-1), which were crystallized separately. Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies revealed that they each encapsulate a methanol molecule by weak interactions and that they form supramolecular enantiomeric helical arrangements along the crystallographic axis, which are constructed via C-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds involving bridging water molecules. A similar helical arrangement previously reported calix[4]azacrown compound S-C108H146N2O16 (S-2).
