Abstract:A simple Nd:YVO4 microchip laser with a plano/plano cavity end-pumped by LD is reported. The laser output with λ=1.064 μm is TEM00 mode. The pumping threshold is 40 mW with a slope efficiency of 29.4%. The experimental set-up and results are discussed.

A TEM 00 output was obtained with a pump width varied from 2.57 to 9.44 mm and the slope efficiency is kept at about 48%. Under 40-W pumping, a maximum TEM 00 output of 15.84 W was achieved and the optical-to-optical efficiency was 39.6% correspondingly.

Abstract:In this letter we reported a LD end-pumped high power Nd:GdVO4 microchip laser. With a 0.5 at.%, 1.5 mm, T = 1% Nd:GdVO4 crystal, 10.1 W maximum output was achieved, corresponding an optical-optical conversion efficiency of 42.3%. The pump threshold was as low as 0.21 W.

Abstract:A beam-shaping diode end-pumped TEM 00 mode CW Nd:YVO 4 laser is presented. A special beam-shaping element made up of isosceles right-angled prism pieces is adopted to realize beam symmetric. Two cylinder lenses are used to couple the shaped beam into a 3 × 3 × 9 mm Nd:YVO 4 crystal with 0.3 at % neodymium doping. By using this laser system, we have achieved 6.1 W CW laser operated in single transverse mode at 1064 nm with 95.2% reshaping efficiency and 25.6% optical-optical conversion efficiency.

Abstract:A novel end-pumped slab Nd:YVO4 laser with a multifolded quasi-concentric resonator (FCR) is reported. This planar-folded stable resonator matches the sheet-shaped pump volume with the TEM00 mode and yields highly efficiently laser operation with a good beam quality. In a prototype experiment, a 19.55-W output was achieved with a pump power of 45 W, which was single mode in one direction. In addition, the optical-to-optical efficiency reached 43.4%. After introducing a telescope system into the folding plane, a 10.23-W quasi-TEM00 output was obtained, and the overall efficiency was 22.7%.

Abstract:By using a Φ20mm×1mm Nd 3+∶YVO 4 and Φ 6mm×1.1mm Cr 4+∶Nd 3+∶YAG crystal directly coated dielectric film on both and,microchip lasers with a few millimeter parallel resonator can be obtained.By using end-pumped scheme,both CW-operation and pulse-pump operation with pre-pump technique has been researched.On CW operation,the microchip using Cr 4+∶Nd 3+∶YAG can obtain a self-Q-switched 1064nm laser pulse with 6ns width (FWHM) and repetition rate up to 10kHz,and the microchip using Nd 3+∶YVO 4 can obtain a CW laser up to 62mW with slope efficiency of 23.3%.By pulse pumped,a controllable and stable pulse sequence can be achieved using Cr 4+∶Nd 3+∶YAG crystal.Furthermore,the output laser pulse sequence of the microchip using YVO 4 behaves similar characters as self-Q-switched pulse.

Abstract:Transition spectra in the 4F3/2-4I13/2 transition band of Nd:YVO4 crystal are too weak to form laser oscillation for the small stimulated emission cross section and strong parasitical oscillation, except for the 1342 nm wavelength. By adjusting the loss of the resonant cavity, 1386 nm continuous wave output from fiber coupled laser diode end-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser is achieved, which reaches 305 mW with pump power of 4.24 W, and the slope efficiency is 13.9% with the highest output power. Continuous wave outputs of 1342 nm and 1386 nm are also observed in the experiment. The stimulated emission cross section of Nd:YVO4 crystal at the wavelength of 1386 nm is calculated as about (3 ± 1) × 10-19 cm2, according to the pumping threshold energy and experimental data.

Abstract:A laser diode-end-pumped Nd:YVO_4 intracavity frequency-tripled quasi-continuous 355 nm laser has been demonstrated.The efficient second and third-harmonic generation with the high peak power and stable operation is generated by two lithium triborate (LBO) crystals.The laser cavity is a simple plane-to-plane linear cavity with the cavity length of 108 mm.An average 355 nm laser with output power of 245 mW is obtained at a pump power of 6.76 W,a pulse repetition rate of 20 kHz and the highest optical-to-optical efficiency of 3.62 %.The corresponding pulse width and pulse peak power are 8.0 ns and 1.52 kW,respectively.The instability is less than 4.2% and the beam quality is satisfactory.This technique can decrease some optical elements reduce the size and enhance the handiness of the laser.These advantages will benefit the broad applications of the ultraviolet lasers.

Abstract:A diode pumped intracavity frequency-doubled Nd: YVO4 laser emitting at 671 nm with a type-II noncritical phase-matched LBO crystal is reported. A maximum output power at 671 nm of 404 mW was obtained under an incident pump power of 5.16 W, with an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency up to 7.8%. The output power fluctuates less than 5% while the temperature change of the LBO crystal is maintained at ± 0.5 °C at the phase-matched temperature.

Abstract:A LBO intracavity-doubled all-solid-state laser with CW TEM00 green output over 1 W from LD end-pumped Nd:YVO4 was demonstrated. In experiment, the applied LD(SDL-3450-P5) had the central wavelength of 805 nm at 25 °C. The maximum CW TEM00 output of 1.2 W at 532 nm was obtained by using I-type noncritical phase-matched (NCPM) temperature tuning of LBO at the pumping power of 5.5 W. The optical-optical conversion efficiency of the all-solid-state laser is 22%, and the electrical-optical conversion efficiency is 3%.

Abstract:A effective continuous-wave (CW), high power laser generated using a YVO4/Nd:YVO4 composite crystal is presented. 18.8 W output power in multi-mode has been achieved with a maximum absorbed pump power of 31.2 W, corresponding to an optical-to-optical efficiency of 60.26%. In TEM00 mode operation, 15.1 W output power also has been achieved with the maximum absorbed pump power of 31.2 W, corresponding to an optical-to-optical efficiency of 47.69%. With a 200 mm focal-length positive lens and using the moving knife-edge method, the beam quality factor is measured to be M2 = 1.2 for TEM00 mode beam.

Abstract:Microchip lasers are applied as the light sources on various occasions with the end-pumping scheme. However, the vibration, the temperature drift, or the mechanical deformation of the pumping light in laser diodes in the end-pumping scheme will lead to instability in the microchip laser output, which causes errors and malfunctioning in the optic systems. In this paper, the side-pumping scheme is applied for improving the disturbance-resisting ability of the microchip laser. The transverse mode and the frequency purity of the laser output are tested. To ensure unicity in the frequency of the laser output, numerical simulations based on Fresnel Kirchhoff diffraction theory are conducted on the parameters of the microchip laser cavity. Film-etching technique is applied to restrain the area of the film and form the microcavity mirrors. The laser output with microcavity mirrors is ensured to be in single frequency and with good beam quality, which is significant in the applications of microchip lasers as the light sources in optical systems. Abstract:Many deffercnt diode-pumped single-frequency solid-atate lasers have been demonstrated in recent years. The LD pumped tunable single frequency polarized laser is of greet importance for precision measurements. A LD pumped 1.06μm single frequency Nd:YAG micro-chip laser with 120GHz of tunable frequency range and 0.5 mW of output power has been reported. For some important applications the higher laser power and polarized laser beam are needed. We have reported the LD pumped CW and pulsed micro-chip Nd:YVO4 laser with high polarized output power. Here we report the LD pumped tunable single frequency Nd:YVO4 laser with higher output power and polarized beam.

Abstract:In this Letter, we demonstrate a nonlinear-mirror (NLM) mode-locked diode-pumped solid-state Nd.YVO4 laser operating at 1342nm, in which the NLM comprises a periodically poled LiNbO3 crystal and a dichroic mirror. The self-starting threshold for cw mode locking is 1.5W, which is significantly lower than that of saturable absorber mode locking. An average power of 1.52W at 1342nm is obtained under diode pump power of 10W at 808nm, with the slope efficiency being up to 16.8%. The pulse width and the repetition rate of the mode-locked laser output are about 9.5 ps and 101 MHz, respectively. (C) 2011 Optical Society of America

Abstract:A study of the gain-switching process and output characteristics in a Nd:YVO4 microchip laser end-pumped by a fiber-coupled laser diode (LD) is reported here. The gain-switched laser pulses with controllable repetition-rate from 1Hz to 4kHz and pulse width of 16 ns are obtained. To analyze the gain-switching dynamics of the LD end-pumped Nd:YVO4 microchip laser, a theoretical model has been developed. The model is based on the rate equations of four-level systems and some practical physics conditions. Numerical simulations using the model illustrate the dependence of buildup time, pulse width and peak power of the gain-switched laser pulse on the pumping parameters. The experimental results coincide well with the theoretical analysis.

Abstract:a high power dual-end-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser with adaptive compensation of thermal lensing effect by adjusting HR mirror along the optical axis was proposed. In Q-switching operation at 70 kHz, the laser worked at different pump power (from 90 W to 70 W) with stable beam quality (M 2 ∼ 1.15) and high output power (from 39 to 28.4 W), corresponding to the absorbed-output conversion efficiency of 55%. In the meantime, the pulse duration was increased from 24 to 31.7 ns. At various repetition rate from 60 to 100 kHz, the beam quality factors were all measured less than 1.2.

Abstract:A maximum of 8.8 W of cw TEM00 mode output at 532 nm has been obtained by intracavity frequency doubling with KTP in a Nd:YVO4 laser doubly-pumped with 28 W diode pumping power. The optical-optical conversion efficiency is 31.5%. The influence of thermal lensing at high pumping power in the end-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser is discussed. The Nd:YVO4 laser has good power stability.

Abstract:A continuous-wave laser with line-shaped end-pumping profile operating at 912 nm is presented. The maximum output power of 7.82 W is obtained, with a slop efficiency of 24.7% and beam quality factors of M x 2 ∼ 20, M y 2 ∼ 1.3. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first laser diode bar directly pumped Nd:GdVO 4 slab laser based on the quasi-three-level 4 F 3/2 → 4 F 9/2 transition in neodymium. Furthermore, we disclose that the experimental setups can be improved by inserting a plano-concave cylindrical lens in the cavity to form a new quasi-concentric resonator to improve die mode-matching in x -direction.

Abstract:We presented the first demonstration of a high-peak power few-nanosecond pulse 1342-nm Nd:YVO4 laser by the combination of cavity dumping and in-band pumping. The maximum average output power of 3.2Wwith Gaussian TEM00 mode was obtained at the pulse repetition rate (PRR) of 10 kHz. The pulse width remained to be 4.7 +/- 0.1 ns for the PRR from 2 to 10 kHz. The maximum pulse energy of 0.55 mJ was obtained at 2 kHz and the corresponding peak power was up to 117 kW. This is, to our knowledge, the shortest ns pulse width and the highest peak power for LD-pumped 1.3 mu m TEM00 lasers with an active Q-switch device. (C) 2015 Optical Society of America
