Abstract:Homogeneous and transparent Fe_2O_3-TiO_2 composite nanometer thin films were prepared on glass substrates by sol-gel method and dip-coating technique.The films were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction spectrum (XRD) ,scanning electronic microscope (SEM) and contact angle measurer,and the influence of iron oxide addition on crystal phase,grain size and water contact angle were investigated.The results showed that a little Fe_2O_3 not only restrained the formation of rutile TiO_2,but also controlled the growth of particles in the film.When molar ratio of Fe reached 0.1%, particles in the film became obviously smaller and size distribution also became narrower.And the average grain size of anatase TiO_2 decreased from 45 nm to 26 nm after doping Fe_2O_3.With the increase of Fe_2O_3 content,the rutile phase of TiO_2 decreased gradually,while the grain size of anatase TiO_2 increased a little.The hydrophilicity of films was closely related to the grain size of TiO_2 particles. When the films were illuminated by 254 nm UV-light or 365 nm UV-light,the contact angle between water and film became obviously smaller with the decrease of grain size of TiO_2.
