Abstract:A new triterpenoid, urs-20-en-3 beta-acetoxy-22 alpha-ol, and three known compounds 3 beta-acetoxy-amyrin, 3 beta-acetoxy-lupeol, lupeol were isolated from the leaves of Crepis napifera (Franch.) Babe. Their structures were determined by means of spectroscopic studies.

Abstract:A new ursane-type triterpenoid, 3 beta-hydroxy-urs-30-p-Z-hydroxycinnamoyloxy-12- en-28-oic-acid (1), together with three known triterpenoids, 3 beta-hydroxy-urs-30-p-E-hydroxycinnamoyloxy-12-en-28-oic-acid (2), 2 alpha, 3 beta, 19 alpha-trihydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic-acid (3), and ursolic acid (4), four known lignans, pinoresinol (5), 9 alpha-hydroxypinoresinol (6), (+)-medioresinol (7), and (+)-kobusin (8), and two steroids, beta-sitosterol (9), and daucosterol (10), were isolated from the whole parts of Teucrium viscidum. Their structures were established by a combination of spectroscopic data analysis, besides comparison with literature data. Compounds 1-4 were evaluated for their inhibitory activities against 11 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 1 (11 beta-HSD1).

Abstract:Two new triterpene rhamnosides, 3β-O-[α-l-(2′,3′,4′-O-triacetyl)-rhamnopyranosyl]-aleuritolic acid (1), and 3β-O-[α-l-(2′,3′-O-diacetyl)-rhamnopyranosyl]-aleuritolic acid (2), together with four known triterpenoids (3–6) were isolated from the petroleum ether fraction of the 70% aqueous acetone extract of the aerial parts of E. dracunculoides Lam. Their structures were elucidated by means of extensive spectroscopic analysis, acid hydrolysis, and comparison with data reported in the literatures. Among them, compounds 1 and 2 are the first examples of taraxerene-type triterpene rhamnosides, and compounds 3–6 were isolated from this plant for the first time.

Abstract:A new triterpene, (3 ss, 12 ss)-taraxast-20(30)-ene-3,12-diol (= (3 ss, 12 ss,18 alpha,19 alpha)-urs-20(30)-ene-3,12-diol -1), together with the known compounds ursolic acid, alpha-amyrin, ss-amyrin, (2 alpha,3 ss)-2,3-dihydroxyursa-5,12-dien-28-oic acid, (2 alpha,3 ss)-2,3,23-trihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid, (2S,3S,4R,8Z)-1-O-(ss-D-glu-copyranosyl) -2-{[(2R)-2-hydroxydocosanoyl]amino} octadec-8-ene- 1,3,4-triol, and (2S,3S,4R,8Z)-1-O(ss-D- -glucopyra nosyl)-2-[ (palmitoyl) amino] octadec-8-ene- 1,3,4-triol, and quereetin 3-(ss-D-glucopyranoside) were isolated from the leaves of Craibiodendron yunnanense. Their structures were established on the basis of spectral evidence. The last four compounds were identified for the first time in this plant.

Abstract:Peperomia pellucida is a member of the Piperaceae family. Extraction of plant material was carried out by Soxhlet extraction method using hexane and ethylacetate as solvents respectively. The extract was concentrated using a rotary evaporator, followed by isolation and purification using column and thin layer chromatographic techniques. Fraction C20 showed a clearly defined single spot with Rf value of 0.51. Using 1HNMR, 13C-DEPT, COSY, HSQC and HMBC and by comparison with literature values, the structure of the compound was established as an Ursane-type triterpenoid. The use of P. pellucida in ethnomedicine for the treatment of various ailments could be attributed to the Ursane-type triterpenoid and other bioactive chemical compounds present in the plant. Abstract:Chemical constituents were isolated and purified from ethyl acetate fraction of Arctium lappa leaves by silica gel, ODS, MCI, and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography. Their structures were identified with multiple spectroscopical methods including NMR, MS, IR, UV, and X-ray diffraction combined with literature data. Twenty compounds(1-20) were identified and their structures were determined as arctanol(1), citroside A(2), melitensin 15-O-β-D-glucoside(3), 11β,13-dihydroonopordopicrin(4), 11β,13-dihydrosalonitenolide(5), 8α-hydroxy-β-eudesmol(6), syringin(7), dihydrosyringin(8), 3,4,3',4'-tetrahydroxy-δ-truxinate(9),(+)-pinoresinol(10), phillygenin(11), syringaresinol(12), kaeperferol(13), quercetin(14), luteolin(15), hyperin(16), 4,5-O-dicaffeoylquinic acid(17), 1H-indole-3-carboxaldehyde(18), benzyl-β-D-glucopyranoside(19), and N-(2'-phenylethyl) isobutyramide(20). Among them, compound 1 is a new norsesquiterpenoid, and compounds 2-5, 7-8, and 18-20 are isolated from this plant for the first time.

Abstract:Phytochemical investigation on the stem bark of Schefflera heptaphylla led to the isolation of five new ursane-type triterpenoid saponins (1-5). Their structures were determined on the basis of spectroscopic and chemical methods. It is noteworthy in this study that the genins of all compounds are reported for the first time. All compounds isolated from this plant were evaluated for their inhibitory activities on lipopolysaccharide-induced nitric oxide production in RAW264.7 cells, and compounds 2 and 5 showed weak anti-inflammatory activities under their non-cytotoxic concentrations.

Abstract:Asprellols A-C (1-3, resp.), three new 24-nortriterpenoids, were isolated from the CHCl3-soluble fraction of 95% EtOH extract of the roots of Ilex asprella, together with a known nortriterpenoid. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated as 2,6,20-trihydroxy-3-oxo-11,12-epoxy-24-norursa-1,4-dien-28,13-olide (1), 2,6-dihydroxy-3-oxo-11,12-epoxy-24-norursa-1,4,20(30)-trien-28,13-olide (2), and 2,6-dihydroxy-3-oxo-11,12-epoxy-24-noroleana-1,4-dien-28,13-olide (3) on the basis of spectroscopic analyses.

Abstract:A new nortriterpenoid, C29H48O6, with a novel skeleton was isolated from the rhizome of Phlomis umbrosa. The compound is composed of a linear array of four fused six-membered rings and a five-membered ring. The central ring has a slightly distorted half-chair conformation, while the other three six-membered rings adopt chair conformations. There are one intra- and four intermolecular hydrogen bonds, forming an extensive hydrogen-bonding network within the crystal structure.

Abstract:Bioassay-guided fractionation of an EtOAc extract of the leaves of Rosa laevigata afforded two new 19-oxo-18,19-seco-ursane-type triterpenes (1 and 3), a new ursane-type nortriterpene (2), a new ursane-type triterpene lactone saponin (4), and two new oleanane-type triterpenoids (5 and 6), together with eight known triterpenoids. (7-14). Compound 1, a 19-oxo-18,19-seco-28-norursane, possesses' a conjugated diene between C-12 and C-17. Several of the isolated compounds (1, 5, 7, 11, and 13) exhibited moderate activities in anti-inflammatory assays in vitro.

Abstract:From the acetone extract of the whole plants of Euphorbia hylonoma Hand-Mazz and E. wangii Oudejans, a new diterpene possessing the casbene skeleton and a new naturally occurring sesquiterpene have been isolated and provisionally named as Euphorhylonal A and Euphoranin E, respectively. Their structures have been determined by spectroscopic data. In addition, five known compounds, physcin, stigmast-4-en-6 beta-ol-3-one, beta-sitosterol, beta-amyrin and ent-kaur-16-en-3 beta-ol have been obtained.

Abstract:Objective To study the chemical constituents of the whole herbs of Empetrum nigrum var.japonicum.Methods Compounds were isolated from n-hexane fraction in the methanol extract from the whole herbs ofE.nigrum var.japonicum by silica gel column chromatography and HPLC.Their structures were identified by analysis on their spectral data.Results Twelve compounds were isolated and identified as nigrum-3β,21,22-triol (1),21,22-dihydroxynigrum-3-one (2),21β-hydroxynigrum-22 (29)-en-3-one (3),acetyl epirfriedelanol (4),friedelin (5),epirfriedelanol (6),friedelanol (7),nigrum-21-en-3-one (8),uvaol (9),24-methylenecycoartanol (10),β-amyrin (11),and ursonic acid (12).Conclusion Compounds 1-2 are new compounds named as nigrumtriol A and nigrumone B.Compounds 3-7 and 9-11 are isolated from the plants for the first time.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To extract,isolate the triterpenes from the leaves of Olea europaea,then conduct structural identifica-tion,and provide reference for development and application of the leaves of O. europaea. METHODS:Silica gel column and other methods were used for elution,column chromatography and recrystallization of the ethyl acetate part of ethanol extracts from the leaves of Olea europaea. The structures of separated compounds were identified by nuclear magnetic resonance. RESULTS:6 com-pounds were isolated from ethyl acetate part of the leaves of O. europaea,identified as β-amyrin,erythrodiol,2α,3β-dihydrox-yl-12-ursen-28-acid (compound 3),oleanolic acid,camaldulenic acid (compound 5),3α-maslinic acid. Compound 3 and com-pound 5 were isolated from the leaves of O. europaea for the first time. CONCLUSIONS:The study has provided test basis for the further development and reasonable application of the leaves of O. europaea.

Abstract:Two new triterpenoids, namely 24-methylene-5,24-dien-19(10→9)- abeo -8 α ,9 β ,10 α -eupha-3 β -ol ( 1 ) and 24-methyl-5,23-dien-19(10→9)- abeo -8 α ,9 β ,10 α -eupha-3 β -ol ( 2 ) were isolated from the stems of Euphorbia royleana , together with three known analogs. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by extensive 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, HSQC, HMBC, 1 H- 1 H COSY, ROESY and HR-MS spectroscopic analyses.
