Abstract:In this paper the catalytic distillation process for the hydrolysis of methyl acetate was simulated under different operation conditions by means of the mathematical model developed by the authors. As a result of the simulation an optimum configuration of the distillation column has been found out for hydrolysis of methyl acetate and the operation conditions have also been optimized. For the new process the conversion of the hydrolysis reaction can be doubled under the same conditions compared with the fest bed process and the energy consumption can be reduced for 10%.
