Abstract:Contractions of Lie bialgebras and Hopf algebras are discussed with examples. Especially, it is shown that the Lie bialgebras associated with the compact simple Lie algebras and the quantum doubles associated with the complex simple Lie algebras can be contracted.

Abstract:Jump deformations and contractions of Lie algebras are inverse concepts, but the approaches to their computations are quite different. In this paper, we contrast the two approaches, showing how to compute jump deformations from the miniversal deformation of a Lie algebra, and thus arrive at the contractions. We also compute contractions directly. We use the moduli spaces of real 3-dimensional and complex 3 and 4-dimensional Lie algebras as models for explaining a deformation theory approach to computation of contractions.

Abstract:The classical limit of a quantum system with one degree of freedom is examined in terms of the contraction of the underlying non-compact kinematical algebra w1 (the Weyl-Heisenberg algebra) to the three-dimensional Abelian algebra t3. An appropriate definition of the contraction of a Lie algebra and of a sequence of its representations is given. For some quantum systems with simple explicitly integrable dynamics, it is shown how the classical Poisson bracket and classical trajectories are obtained in the limit. Each trajectory is associated with a one-dimensional representation of t3 within a direct integral of such representations in a Hilbert space. Each of the corresponding generalized one dimensional subspaces is stable under the action of the limiting dynamics, and a superselection rule arises naturally between any two such subspaces.

Abstract:As a natural generalization of ordinary Lie algebras we introduce the concept of quantum Lie algebras . We define these in terms of certain adjoint submodules of quantized enveloping algebras endowed with a quantum Lie bracket given by the quantum adjoint action. The structure constants of these algebras depend on the quantum deformation parameter q and they go over into the usual Lie algebras when q = 1. The notions of q-conjugation and q-linearity are introduced. q-linear analogues of the classical antipode and Cartan involution are defined and a generalized Killing form, q-linear in the first entry and linear in the second, is obtained. These structures allow the derivation of symmetries between the structure constants of quantum Lie algebras. The explicitly worked out examples of and illustrate the results.

Abstract:The Lie bialgebras of the (1+1) extended Galilei algebra are obtained and classified into four multiparametric families. Their quantum deformations are obtained, together with the corresponding deformed Casimir operators. For the coboundary cases quantum universal R-matrices are also given. Applications of the quantum extended Galilei algebras to classical integrable systems are explicitly developed.

Abstract:A unified method to construct the (multi-)boson realizations of the Lie and quantum algebras is proposed based on a universal deformation of bosom (Heisenberg-Weyl) algebra and its multiboson realization. Some explicit examples, the Lie algebras sl (2) and su (1,1), q-boson algebra, quantum algebras sl (2)(q) and su(1,1)(q), along with the q-ladder algebra are studied in detail. In particular, the square bosom realizations of su (1,1) and su (1,1)(q) are naturally obtained as special cases.

Abstract:Graded contractions of certain non-toral $\mathbb{Z}_2^3$-gradings on the simple Lie algebras $\mathfrak{so}(7,\mathbb C)$ and $\f{so}(8,\mathbb C)$ are classified up to two notions of equivalence. In particular, there arise two large families of Lie algebras (the majority of which are solvable) of dimensions 21 and 28. This is achieved as a significant generalization of the classification of related graded contractions on $\mathfrak g_2$, the derivation algebra of the octonion algebra. Many of the results can be further extended to any \emph{good} $\mathbb Z_2^3$-grading on an arbitrary Lie algebra.

Abstract:q-Deformations of 3-Lie algebras and representations of q-3-Lie algebras are discussed. A q-3-Lie algebra [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], is a vector space A over a field 𝔽 with 3-ary linear multiplications [ , , ]q and [Formula: see text] from [Formula: see text] to A, and a map [Formula: see text] satisfying the q-Jacobi identity [Formula: see text] for all [Formula: see text]. If the multiplications satisfy that [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] is skew-symmetry, then [Formula: see text] is called a type (I)-q-3- Lie algebra. From q-Lie algebras, group algebras and commutative associative algebras, q-3-Lie algebras and type (I)-q-3-Lie algebras are constructed. Also, the non-trivial onedimensional central extension of q-3-Lie algebras is investigated, and new q-3-Lie algebras [Formula: see text], and [Formula: see text] are obtained.
Anatomy of Null Contractions

Abstract:We introduce null contractions of the Poincare and relativistic conformal algebras. The longitudinal null contraction involves writing the algebra in lightcone coordinates and contracting one of the null directions. For the Poincare algebra, this yields two non-overlapping co-dimension one Carroll algebras. The transverse contraction is a limit on the spatial dimensions and yields two non-overlapping co-dimension one Galilean algebras. We find, similar to Susskind's original observation of the non-relativistic case, that the Poincare algebra, written in the lightcone coordinates, naturally contains Carrollian sub-algebras in one lower dimension. The effect of the longitudinal contraction, which essentially focusses on the null direction, is to disentangle the two Carroll algebras that now correspond to the symmetries of the two null boundaries. The transverse contraction similarly separates the overlapping Galilean sub-algebras of the original Poincare algebra. We discuss aspects of the conformal case, where we get lower dimensional Carroll Conformal algebras and Schrodinger algebras.

Abstract:In this paper, simplicity of quadratic Lie conformal algebras are investigated. From the point view of the corresponding Gel'fand-Dorfman bialgebras, some sufficient conditions and necessary conditions to ensure simplicity of quadratic Lie conformal algebras are presented. By these observations, we present several classes of new infinite simple Lie conformal algebras. These results will be useful for classification purposes.

Abstract:We provide a novel construction of quantized universal enveloping $*$-algebras of real semisimple Lie algebras, based on Letzter's theory of quantum symmetric pairs.
