Abstract:Graded contractions of the fine $\mathbb{Z}_2^3$-grading on the complex exceptional Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}_2$ are classified up to equivalence and up to strongly equivalence. In particular, a large family of 14-dimensional Lie algebras arise, most of them solvable.

Abstract:Graded contractions of certain non-toral $\mathbb{Z}_2^3$-gradings on the simple Lie algebras $\mathfrak{so}(7,\mathbb C)$ and $\f{so}(8,\mathbb C)$ are classified up to two notions of equivalence. In particular, there arise two large families of Lie algebras (the majority of which are solvable) of dimensions 21 and 28. This is achieved as a significant generalization of the classification of related graded contractions on $\mathfrak g_2$, the derivation algebra of the octonion algebra. Many of the results can be further extended to any \emph{good} $\mathbb Z_2^3$-grading on an arbitrary Lie algebra.

Abstract:Six fine gradings on the real form $\mathfrak{e}_{6,-14}$ are described, precisely those ones coming from fine gradings on the complexified algebra. The universal grading groups are $\mathbb Z_2^3\times\mathbb Z_3^2$, $\mathbb Z_2^6$, $\mathbb Z\times\mathbb Z_2^4$, $\mathbb Z_2^7$, $\mathbb Z\times\mathbb Z_2^5$ and $\mathbb Z^2\times\mathbb Z_2^3$.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to investigate the algebraic structure that appears on $|3|-$gradings $\mathfrak{n}=\mathfrak{n}_{-3}\oplus \cdots \oplus \mathfrak{n}_3$ of a complex simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{n}$. In particular, we completely determine the possible reductive algebras $\mathfrak{n}_0$ and prove that the only free nilpotent Lie algebra of step 3 that appears as the negative part $\mathfrak{n}_{-3}\oplus\mathfrak{n}_{-2}\oplus\mathfrak{n}_{-1}$ of a grading is the usual $|3|-$grading of the exceptional Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}_2$.

Abstract:We classify up to isomorphism the gradings by arbitrary groups on the exceptional classical simple Lie superalgebras $G(3)$, $F(4)$ and $D(2,1;\alpha)$ over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $0$. To achieve this, we apply the recent method developed by A. Elduque and M. Kochetov to the known classification of fine gradings up to equivalence on the same superalgebras, which was obtained by C. Draper et al. in 2011. We also classify gradings on the simple Lie superalgebra $A(1,1)$, whose automorphism group is different from the other members of the $A$ series.

Abstract:We study the structure of graded Lie superalgebras with arbitrary dimension and over an arbitrary field ${\mathbb K}$. We show that any of such algebras ${\mathfrak L}$ with a symmetric $G$-support is of the form ${\mathfrak L} = U + \sum\limits_{j}I_{j}$ with $U$ a subspace of ${\mathfrak L}_1$ and any $I_{j}$ a well described graded ideal of ${\mathfrak L}$, satisfying $[I_j,I_k] = 0$ if $j\neq k$. Under certain conditions, it is shown that ${\mathfrak L} = (\bigoplus\limits_{k \in K} I_k) \oplus (\bigoplus\limits_{q \in Q} I_q),$ where any $I_k$ is a gr-simple graded ideal of ${\mathfrak L}$ and any $I_q$ a completely determined low dimensional non gr-simple graded ideal of ${\mathfrak L}$, satisfying $[I_q,I_{q'}] = 0$ for any $q'\in Q$ with $q \neq q'$.

Abstract:A ${\mathbb Z}_2\times{\mathbb Z}_2$-graded Lie algebra $\mathfrak g$ is a ${\mathbb Z}_2\times{\mathbb Z}_2$-graded algebra $\mathfrak g$ with a bracket $[|. , . |]$ that satisfies certain graded versions of the symmetry and Jacobi identity. In particular, despite the common terminology, $\mathfrak g$ is not a Lie algebra. We construct classes of ${\mathbb Z}_2\times{\mathbb Z}_2$-graded Lie algebras corresponding to the classical Lie algebras, in terms of their defining matrices. For the ${\mathbb Z}_2\times{\mathbb Z}_2$-graded Lie algebra of type $A$, the construction coincides with the previously known class. For the ${\mathbb Z}_2\times{\mathbb Z}_2$-graded Lie algebra of type $B$, $C$ and $D$ our construction is new and gives rise to interesting defining matrices closely related to the classical ones but undoubtedly different. We also give some examples and possible applications to parastatistics.

Abstract:A set grading on the split simple Lie algebra of type $D_{13}$, that cannot be realized as a group-grading, is constructed by splitting the set of positive roots into a disjoint union of pairs of orthogonal roots, following a pattern provided by the lines of the projective plane over $GF(3)$. This answers in the negative Question 1.11 in Elduque-Kochetov monograph (2013). Similar non-group gradings are obtained for types $D_n$ with $n$ congruent to 1 modulo 12, by substituting the lines in the projective plane by blocks of suitable Steiner systems.

Abstract:We describe four fine gradings on the real form $\mathfrak e_{6,-26}$. They are precisely the gradings whose complexifications are fine gradings on the complexified algebra $\mathfrak{e}_6$. The universal grading groups are $\mathbb Z_2^6$, $\mathbb Z\times\mathbb Z_2^4$, $\mathbb Z^2\times\mathbb Z_2^3$, and $\mathbb Z_4\times\mathbb Z_2^4$.

Abstract:We consider left-invariant $G_2$-structures on $7$-dimensional almost Abelian Lie groups. Also, we characterise the associated torsion forms and the full torsion tensor according to the Lie bracket $A$ of the corresponding Lie algebra. In those terms, we establish the algebraic condition on $A$ for each of the possible $16$-torsion classes of a $G_2$-structure. In particular, we show that four of those torsion classes are not admissible, since $\tau_3=0$ implies $\tau_0=0$. Finally, we use the above results to provide the algebraic criteria on $A$, satisfying the harmonic condition $div T=0$, and this allows to identify which torsion classes are harmonic.

Abstract:Jump deformations and contractions of Lie algebras are inverse concepts, but the approaches to their computations are quite different. In this paper, we contrast the two approaches, showing how to compute jump deformations from the miniversal deformation of a Lie algebra, and thus arrive at the contractions. We also compute contractions directly. We use the moduli spaces of real 3-dimensional and complex 3 and 4-dimensional Lie algebras as models for explaining a deformation theory approach to computation of contractions.

Abstract:We construct a generalised notion of Kac-Moody algebras using smooth maps from the non-compact manifolds ${\cal M}=$SL$(2,\mathbb R)$ and ${\cal M}=$ SL$(2,\mathbb R)/U(1)$ to a finite-dimensional simple Lie group $G$. This construction is achieved through two equivalent ways: by means of the Plancherel Theorem and by identifying a Hilbert basis within $L^2(\mathcal{M})$. We analyse the existence of central extensions and identify those in duality with Hermitean operators on $\cal M$. By inspecting the Clebsch-Gordan coefficients of $\mathfrak{sl}(2,\mathbb{R})$, we derive the Lie brackets characterising the corresponding generalised Kac-Moody algebras. The root structure of these algebras is identified, and it is shown that an infinite number of simultaneously commuting operators can be defined. Furthermore, we briefly touch upon applications of these algebras within the realm of supergravity, particularly in scenarios where the scalar fields coordinatize the non-compact manifold $\text{SL}(2,\mathbb{R})/U(1)$.

Abstract:Let $K$ be a field of characteristic zero and let $\mathfrak{sl}_2 (K)$ be the 3-dimensional simple Lie algebra over $K$. In this paper we describe a finite basis for the $\mathbb{Z}_2$-graded identities of the adjoint representation of $\mathfrak{sl}_2 (K)$, or equivalently, the $\mathbb{Z}_2$-graded identities for the pair $(M_3(K), \mathfrak{sl}_2 (K))$. We work with the canonical grading on $\mathfrak{sl}_2 (K)$ and the only nontrivial $\mathbb{Z}_2$-grading of the associative algebra $M_3(K)$ induced by that on $\mathfrak{sl}_2(K)$.

Abstract:In general, the study of gradations has always represented a cornerstone in algebra theory. In particular, \textit{naturally graded} seems to be the first and the most relevant gradation when it comes to nilpotent algebras, a large class of solvable ones. In fact, many families of relevant solvable algebras have been obtained by extensions of naturally graded nilpotent algebras, i.e. solvable algebras with a well-structured nilradical. Thus, the aim of this work is introducing the concept of naturally graded for superalgebra structures such as Lie and (non-Lie) Leibniz. After having defined naturally graded Lie and Leibniz superalgebras, we characterize natural gradations on a very important class of each of them, that is, those with maximal super-nilindex.

Abstract: A $G$-grading on a complex semisimple Lie algebra $L$, where $G$ is a finite abelian group, is called quasi-good if each homogeneous component is 1-dimensional and 0 is not in the support of the grading. Analogous to classical root systems, we define a finite root system $R$ to be some subset of a finite symplectic abelian group satisfying certain axioms. There always corresponds to $R$ a semisimple Lie algebra $L(R)$ together with a quasi-good grading on it. Thus one can construct nice basis of $L(R)$ by means of finite root systems. We classify finite maximal abelian subgroups $T$ in $\Aut(L)$ for complex simple Lie algebras $L$ such that the grading induced by the action of $T$ on $L$ is quasi-good, and show that the set of roots of $T$ in $L$ is always a finite root system. There are five series of such finite maximal abelian subgroups, which occur only if $L$ is a classical simple Lie algebra.

Abstract:In this paper, we first use the graded Lie algebra for relative Rota-Baxter operators on Lie algebras to give the graded Lie algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements characterize $\mathfrak s$-matrices on pre-Lie algebras.
