Abstract:A diode-pumped, active mode-locked fiber ring laser with a repetition rate of 1-7.5 GHz was developed successfully. The pulses of 11.7-22 ps duration, transform-limited pulses have been generated. In addition, the laser can be efficiently tuned over the range of 1530-1570 nm.

Abstract:The authors have developed a method that can control the active mode-locked fiber ring laser at three different repetition rate. Driven by 2.5 GHz microwave signal the active mode-locked fiber ring laser can generate 2.5 GHz, 5 GHz and 7.5 GHz optical pulses by tuning the bias voltage and microwave power. The product of pulse width and spectrum width was near 0.315.

Abstract:An actively mode-locked fiber ring laser with repetition rate of 10 GHz has been realized. Pulses train as short as 9 ps has been obtained at a wavelength of 1545 nm. The corresponding average output power was 1.6 mW. In addition, the optical fiber filter plays two roles in the fiber ring laser: wavelength selection and spectrum stabilization.

Abstract:A pr-actical and simple approach of achieving a high pulse repetition frequency fiber-coupled laserdiode device is demonstrated both by experiment and TRACEPRO software simulation, which is obtained by beam collimating, spatial beam combining, and polarization beam combining based on multiple cycle-emitting pulsed laser-diode emitters. Using this method, fiber-coupled laser-diode module output pulse repetition frequency from the multimode fiber with 200-mu m core diameter and 0.22 numerical aperture can reach 300 kHz, and the coupling efficiency is beyond 72%. Abstract:A continuously tunable ring laser of repetition operation was successfully developed. The range of the tunable wavelength is 1535-1565 nm. The range of the repetition rates is 2.4-2.6 GHz. The time-bandwidth product is close to the transform limit. Optical pulses with a repetition rate of 5 GHz are obtained by changing the direct current bias voltage. The relative experimental principle was analyzed.

Abstract:Pulsed fiber lasers with high repetition rates play a crucial role in applications such as high-efficiency processing and bio-optical imaging. However, many ring fiber mode-locked lasers primarily focus on shortening the cavity length to achieve high repetition rate pulse output. Attention is often directed towards the gain fiber and cavity structure, with less consideration given to the challenge of increasing mode-locking threshold power. In this study, we present a high-repetition-rate annular all-fiber laser system with dispersion management. Through strategic adjustment of the intracavity dispersion away from the near-zero dispersion region and careful control of the intracavity gain strength, we have successfully lowered the mode-locking threshold power. This approach can generate pulses with a repetition rate of 439.71 MHz and a mode-locking threshold power of approximately 600 mW. Following pulse compression, the achieved pulse width is 94.8 fs. Its time-bandwidth product is 0.368. To our knowledge, this represents the highest fundamental repetition rate currently attained using a ring all-fiber resonator, accompanied by the lowest mode-locking threshold. Our work introduces a ring fiber laser system characterized by a low mode-locking threshold and a high repetition rate, offering a valuable method for achieving higher fundamental repetition rate pulses.

Abstract:A novel configuration was demonstrated to realize dual-wavelength operation in an erbium-doped fiber ring laser by incorporating a pair of multiplexer/demultiplexer. The repetition rate of each channel can be separately changed by adjusting a delay line associated with that channel in the cavity without changing the radio frequency. Dual-wavelength pulses at 2.5 and 5 GHz respectively were simultaneously obtained with pulse widths of 17.7 and 13 ps.

Abstract:We demonstrate a 783-MHz fundamental repetition rate mode-locked Er-doped all-fiber ring laser with a pulse width of 623 fs. By using carbon nanotubes (CNT) saturable absorber (SA), a relatively low self-starting pump threshold of 108 mW is achieved. The laser has a very compact footprint less than 10 cm * 10 cm, benefiting from the all-active-fiber cavity design. The robust mode-locking is confirmed by the low relative intensity noise (RIN) and a long-term stability test. We propose a new scheme for generating high repetition rate femtosecond optical pulses from a compact and stable all-active-fiber ring oscillator.

Abstract:An active mode-locking technology of fiber ring laser by beat signal feedback is reported. The modulation frequency is adaptable with the cavity length by itself when an amplitude modulator is driven by the high repetition beat signal extracted from the cavity.The transform limited ultra-short pulses of ll ps with a 2.5 GHz repetition rate have been obtained.

Abstract:A high repetition-rate actively mode-locked thulium fiber laser is demonstrated where an electro-optic lithium niobate phase modulator is used to synchronize the longitudinal modes in the cavity. The repetition rate of the actively mode-locked laser is tunable from 14.6 MHz to 19 GHz, where the 19 GHz pulses exhibit a super-mode suppression ratio of 46 dB. Furthermore, the output pulse width could be manipulated through finely controlling the detuning frequency or repetition rate. We have also experimentally observed rational harmonic mode-locking in the laser and obtained 14 GHz and 21 GHz repetition rate pulses using a 7 GHz modulating signal. To the best of our knowledge, we have improved the repetition-rate of actively mode-locked thulium fiber laser by more than one order of magnitude. Such a high repetition source can be readily synchronized to a master clock, which makes it very suitable for high speed optical data processing, communication and remote sensing.

Abstract:High repetition rate ultrafast fiber lasers are important tools for both fundamental science and industry applications. However, achieving over GHz repetition rate in passively mode-locked fiber ring lasers is still challenging. Here, we demonstrate a novel all-integrated Er-doped fiber ring laser that achieves over GHz fundamental repetition rate, passively mode-locked by carbon nanotubes (CNTs). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first passively mode-locked GHz all-fiber laser with ring cavity configuration. In the proposed laser oscillator, all functions are integrated into one device, making it an ultra-compact laser cavity. The laser produces ultrafast optical pulses at 1562 nm, with a pulse width of 682 fs and a fundamental repetition rate of 1.028 GHz. The stable mode-locking is characterized by high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) radiofrequency signal and low relative intensity noise (RIN).

Abstract:We report a passively mode-locked high repetition rate erbium-doped femtosecond fiber laser via nonlinear polarization rotation, with a fundamental repetition rate of 101.94 MHz. The output power is 34 mW when pumped by a single mode fiber coupled laser diode at 370 mW. The spectral width is 25 nm, corresponding to a transform limited pulse width of 105 fs.

Abstract:A stabilized 10-GHz actively mode-locked fiber ring laser constructed with non-polarization-maintained fiber was reported, whose long term stabilization was achieved by synchronous modulation technology based on an error signal extraction and procession circuit. Its output pulses could maintain over 8 hours with the pulse width of about 11 ps and the spectrum width of about 0.37 nm; in the meanwhile the output power and the center wavelength of the output pulse still kept stable at 1.6 mW and 1,550.3 nm respectively. Its output pulses were additionally compressed to 2 ps by high order soliton effect.

Abstract:A 10-GHz fiber-integrated ring laser incorporating a semiconductor optical amplifier and an electroabsorption modulator was investigated both theoretically and experimentally. The time-domain ABCD law was employed to clarify the impacts of optical elements on the mode-locked pulses. The obtained analytical results were testified by the experimental ones. Such a ring laser also showed good performance as an optical pulse source, which generated a stable pulse train with a pulse width of 10 ps and a tunable wavelength range of 30 nm.
