Abstract:In this work, isobaric vapor liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for the three binary systems composed of diethylamine (1) + ethanol (2), ethanol (1) + NN-diethylethanolamine (2), and diethylamine (1) + N,N-diethylethanolamine (2) at p = (80.0 and 40.0) kPa have been measured using a modified Rose Williams still. All of the experimental data passed thermodynamic consistency tests, including the area test of Herington and the point test of Van Ness and co-workers. No azeotropic behavior was observed at the two reduced pressures. The Wilson, NRTL, and UNIQUAC activity coefficient models were used to correlate the experimental data. The obtained results indicated that the UNIQUAC model was more suitable than the Wilson and NRTL models for correlating the measured isobaric VLE data.

Abstract:Isobaric vapor–liquid equilibrium (VLE) data of the systems acetic acid+N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), acetic acid+dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), DMSO+water, water+acetic acid+DMF, and water+acetic acid+DMSO have been measured at 13.33kPa by using an improved Rose equilibrium still. The association of acetic acid in vapor phase has been considered, and the nonideality of vapor phase was accounted for using the Hayden–O’Connell (HOC) method. The experimental binary data have been correlated by the NRTL, Wilson and van Laar models. The NRTL model parameters obtained from the binary data have been used to predict the ternary VLE data. The ternary predicted values obtained in this way agree well with the experimental values.

Abstract:The vapor-liquid equilibria for the binary systems difluoromethane (R32) + trans-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene (R1336mzz(E)) and fluoroethane (R161) + trans-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene ( R1336mzz(E)) have been investigated using a liquid recirculation apparatus from 283.17 to 333.06 K and 283.12 to 333.00 K, respectively. The experimental data were correlated by the PR + WS + NRTL model. The correlated results showed good agreement with the experimental results for the two binary mixtures. The average absolute relative deviation of pressure (AARDp) and average absolute deviation of vapor composition (AADy) were 0.88% and 0.003 for R32 + R1336mzz(E) and 0.86% and 0.005 for R161 + R1336mzz(E), respectively. These systems exhibited no azeotropic behavior within the investigated temperature range. Also, the relative volatilities alpha(12) for the two mixtures were further obtained and correlated by the PR +WS +NRTL model. The results showed that the correlated results had good agreement with the experimental results, and the deviations were less than 4.3 and 7.2% for R32 + R1336mzz(E) and R161 + R1336mzz(E), respectively.

Abstract:Isobaric vapor liquid equilibria (VLE) data were measured at 101.3 kPa for three binary systems (water + 1-methoxy-2-propanol), (water + 2-methoxy-1-propanol), and (1-methoxy-2-propanol + 2-methoxy-1-propanol) by using a modified Rose-Williams still, in which both vapor and liquid phases circulate continuously. Positive deviations and azeotropic behaviors were found in systems (water + 1-methoxy-2-propanol) and (water + 2-methoxy-1-propanol), while a negative deviation was found in the system (1-methoxy-2-propanol + 2-rnethoxy-1-propanol). All of the experimental VLE data for the three binary systems were tested and verified to be thermodynamically consistent by the Herington area test and Van Ness point test. The nonideality of the vapor phase was corrected by the Hayden O'Connell method. The experimental isobaric VLE data were correlated'by using the universal quasichemical (UNIQUAC) and nonrandom two-liquid (NRTL) models, and the binary interaction parameters for the two models were reported. Results showed that both models correlated the experimental data with good accuracy.

Abstract:Isobaric vapor–liquid equilibria data have been determined at 101.3kPa for the binary mixtures of (2,3-butanediol+n-butanol), (2,3-butanediol+ethyl acetate) and (2,3-butanediol+butyl acetate). Thermodynamic consistency has been tested for all vapor–liquid equilibria data. The non-ideality of the vapor phase has been considered by using Hayden–O’Connell equation. The activity coefficients have been correlated satisfactorily with Margules, Wilson, NRTL, and UNIQUAC models.

Abstract:Experimental density data of the binary mixtures of N-methyldiethanolamine + (2-aminoethyl)ethanolamine and the ternary mixtures of N-methyldiethanolamine + (2-aminoethyl)ethanolamine + water were reported at atmospheric pressure over the entire composition range at temperatures from 283.15 to 363.15K. Density measurements were performed using an Anton Paar digital vibrating U-tube densimeter. Excess molar volumes were calculated from the experimental data and correlated as the Redlich-Kister equation for the binary mixtures, and as the Nagata-Tamura equation for the ternary mixtures. Several empirical models were applied to predict the excess molar volumes of ternary mixtures from the corresponding binary mixture values. It indicates that the best agreement with the experimental data was achieved by the Redlich-Kister, Kohler, and Jacob-Fitzner models.

Abstract:The vapor-liquid equilibrium data for dimethyl ether-water binary system were measured at 309.15K、323.15K、333.15K、348.15K、358.15K、373.15K、393.15K and pressures of 0.13MPa～1.45MPa in a self-sucking type agitated static equilibrium cell.The pressure of cell was recorded using an on-line computer and acquisition system.Thermodynamic calculation of the vapor-liquid equilibrium data for dimethyl ether-water binary system have been carried out by using method based on state equation-activity coefficient,PR equation for various components fugacity coefficient of vapor phase,NRTL equation and UNIFAC model for activity coefficient of liquid phase,and the calculated data are accordance with the experimental data.

The experimental results are analyzed using the UNIQUAC equation with the temperature-dependent binary parameters. Two sets of isobaric data are compared with literature values. The measured ternary results are compared with those calculated from the UNIQUAC equation with temperature-dependent binary parameters, obtained from the measured binary VLE data.

Abstract:Densities of binary mixtures of 2-chloroethanol with N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) and water have been measured over the full range of compositions at various temperatures. From these results, excess molar volumes, VE and excess partial molar volumes at infinite dilution, V¯iE,0 have been calculated. VE for (DMF+2-chloroethanol) mixture are positive over the whole mole fraction range and negative values are obtained for (water+2-chloroethanol) mixture.

Abstract:Vapor-liquid equilibrium data for five binary systems and a quaternary system, which were ethanol-water, ethanol-tert-butyl alcohol, ethanol-ethyl tert-butyl ether, tert-butyl alcohol-ethyl tert-butyl ether, tert-butyl alcohol-water, and water-ethanol-tert-butyl alcohol-ethyl tert-butyl ether were measured respectively with a modified Rose equilibrium still under isopiestic pressure (0.1013 MPa). The data are correlated with the UNIFAC and Wilson models. The predicted vapor-liquid equilibrium for those systems agreed well with the experimental data.

Abstract:In this work, the suitability or potential of ethanol aqueous solutions as a solvent for the extraction of alcohols from alcohol–alkane mixtures was studied. Experimental liquid–liquid equilibria (LLE) data of four quaternary systems {ethanol (1) + octanol (2) + dodecane (4) + water (6)}, {ethanol (1) + octanol (2) + tridecane (5) + water (6)}, {ethanol (1) + nonanol (3) + dodecane (4) + water (6)}, and {ethanol (1) + nonanol (3) + tridecane (5) + water (6)} were determined at T of 293.15, 298.15, and 303.15 K under atmospheric pressure. The nonrandom two-liquid model model was used to correlate binary interaction parameters. The parameters obtained from quaternary systems were used to predict six-component system LLE data. The predicted LLE data were in good agreement with the experimental data. The results showed that 75 wt % ethanol aqueous solution was suitable for separating octanol and nonanol from octanol + nonanol + dodecane + tridecane mixture and that 298.15 K was the suitable temperature.

Abstract:Vapor pressure of methyl glycolate and the binary isothermal vapor–liquid equilibrium of ethylene glycol and methyl glycolate were measured by using static method. The experimental data was correlated with the Wilson and NRTL activity coefficient models. Good agreement between the experimental data and model is achieved.

Abstract:Isobaric vapor-liquid equilibria (VLE) have been determined for the binary systems of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) + ethanol, dimethyl carbonate + diethyl carbonate (DEC), dimethyl carbonate + propylene glycol (PG), and dimethyl carbonate + propylene carbonate (PC) under atmospheric pressure in an Ellis equilibrium still. The data have been checked by employing a global statistic thermodynamic consistency test and also have been correlated by means of both the Wilson equation and the NRTL equation. The experimental results demonstrated that the systems of DMC + ethanol and DMC + PG show strong positive deviations from ideality and that the systems of DMC + DEC and DMC + PC are close to ideality.

Abstract:Isobaric vapor-liquid equilibrium data were determined at 101.33 kPa for the binary mixtures of water + sulfolane and water + tetraethylene glycol. Calculations of the nonideality of the vapor phase were made with the second virial coefficients obtained from the Hayden-O'Connell method. The boiling points and vapor-phase compositions reported were well correlated by the Wilson, NRTL, and UNIQUAC models. In addition, the densities of binary mixtures of water + sulfolane, water + tetraethylene glycol, and benzene + tetraethylene glycol were determined over the entire concentration range at 298.15 K and atmospheric pressure by using an oscillating tube densimeter. Excess volumes were calculated for each data point. All mixtures exhibit negative excess volumes with a minimum which occurs at x congruent to 0.5 for the benzene + tetraethylene glycol system; it is shifted toward the water-rich region for the water + sulfolane and water + tetraethylene glycol systems. The experimental excess volumes were correlated using the Redlich-Kister equation.

Abstract:A static total pressure method was employed to determine the vapor pressures of pure propyl ethanoate (propyl acetate), pure ethanoic acid, and the corresponding propyl acetate + ethanoic acid binary system at different feeding compositions over the temperature range (323.15 to 353.15) K. The isothermal vapor−liquid equilibrium (VLE) data of the binary mixture at various temperatures were obtained from classical thermodynamic relations and mass-balance equations. The nonrandom two-liquid (NRTL), Wilson, and universal quasi-chemical (UNIQUAC) models were used to represent the nonideality of the liquid phase, and a modified Peng−Robinson equation of state was used to compute the properties of the vapor phase. The overall average relative deviations between the experimental equilibrium pressures and the NRTL, Wilson, and UNIQUAC models were (0.95, 0.96, and 0.94) %, respectively. The three models gave about the same equilibrium pressures and vapor compositions. A new version of the conductor-like screening model−segment activity coefficient (COSMO−SAC) model was applied to predict the VLE of propyl acetate + ethanoic acid mixtures, and good agreement with the experimental data was obtained.
