Abstract:(S)-(+)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropane carbox amide is a key intermediate of Cilastatin, an inhibitor of dehydropeptidase-I. Its corresponding solid-liquid equilibrium data will provide essential support for industrial design and further theoretical studies. The solubilities of (S)-(+)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropane carbox amide in toluene, dichloromethane, trichloromethane, ethyl acetate, ethanol and pure water at different temperature were measured using the synthetic method by a laser monitoring observation technique. The solubility data were correlated with the modified Apelblat equation. The calculated values were good in agreement with the experimental values.

Abstract:Vapor liquid equilibrium data for system of ethyl acetate-pyridine at the pressures of 101.33 kPa, 66.66 kPa and 40.00 kPa were determined with a circulating glass still. The experimental data at different pressures satisfied the requirement of Herington抯 thermodynamic consistency. Those data were also correlated by Wilson and NRTL activity coefficient models, equivalent results were obtained, the maximum deviations of calculated vapor composition and bubble temperature from those of experimental were 0.0075 and 0.29℃ respectively.

Abstract:Vapor pressure of methyl glycolate and the binary isothermal vapor–liquid equilibrium of ethylene glycol and methyl glycolate were measured by using static method. Abstract:In this work, the vapor-liquid equilibrium experimental data for the systems of isopropyl chloroacetate + isopropanol, isopropyl chloroacetate + cyclohexane and isopropyl chloroacetate + benzene were measured by a modified Rose-type recirculating still under the pressure of 101.3 kPa. The thermodynamic consistency of the measured data was verified by the Herington and van Ness methods, respectively. The experimental data were correlated by the NRTL, Wilson, and UNIQUAC activity coefficient models, and the corresponding interaction parameters of the three models were obtained. The root-mean-square deviations between the experimental data and calculated results for the temperature and the mole fraction of the vapor phase were less than 0.58 K and 0.0066, respectively. In addition, the excess Gibbs energy was calculated for the three systems.

Abstract:The vapor liquid equilibrium for a methanol + methyl palmitate system was measured using a flow-type method at a pressure range of L86-8.81 MPa and a temperature range of 493-543 K, which is near the critical temperature of methanol (512.64 K). The mole fractions of methyl palmitate in the vapor phase were nearly zero, and the errors were also close to zero at all temperatures. The measuring errors of the liquid phase were slightly higher than those of the vapor phase. The Soave-Redlich-Kwong equation of state (SRK EOS), the Peng-Robinson equation of state (PR EOS), and the Cubic-Plus-Association equation of state (CPA EOS) combined with the Adachi-Sugie (AS) mixing rule were employed to correlate the measured data. The correlated results are consistent with the measured data. Because of their accuracy and concise calculation, the SRK and PR EOSs are better choices for correlating the methanol + methyl palmitate system when considering the accuracy and conciseness of calculating.

Abstract:Methanol and methylal form a minimum boiling point azeotrope and cannot be separated by conventional distillation. In this paper, the azeotrope was separated by extractive distillation with cyclohexanol as the entrainer. First, the vapor-liquid equilibrium data of methanol + cyclohexanol and methylal + cyclohexanol were measured at 101.3 kPa, and the thermodynamic consistency of the experimental data was tested by the van Ness and pure component consistency test methods. The experimental results were correlated by activity coefficient models, which are nonrandom two-liquid (NRTL), universal quasichemical (UNIQUAC), and Wilson. Then, the feasibility of separating the azeotrope with cyclohexanol as the entrainer and the separation sequence were studied by thermodynamic topological analysis of phase diagrams and residual curve map. Finally, the appropriate operating conditions were obtained by sensitivity analysis, and the extractive distillation simulation was carried out. The results show that cyclohexanol can be used to separate methanol and methylal by extractive distillation.

Abstract:Vapor-liquid equilibrium data for five binary systems and a quaternary system, which were ethanol-water, ethanol-tert-butyl alcohol, ethanol-ethyl tert-butyl ether, tert-butyl alcohol-ethyl tert-butyl ether, tert-butyl alcohol-water, and water-ethanol-tert-butyl alcohol-ethyl tert-butyl ether were measured respectively with a modified Rose equilibrium still under isopiestic pressure (0.1013 MPa). The data are correlated with the UNIFAC and Wilson models. The predicted vapor-liquid equilibrium for those systems agreed well with the experimental data.

Abstract:In this work, isobaric vapor liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for the three binary systems composed of diethylamine (1) + ethanol (2), ethanol (1) + NN-diethylethanolamine (2), and diethylamine (1) + N,N-diethylethanolamine (2) at p = (80.0 and 40.0) kPa have been measured using a modified Rose Williams still. All of the experimental data passed thermodynamic consistency tests, including the area test of Herington and the point test of Van Ness and co-workers. No azeotropic behavior was observed at the two reduced pressures. The Wilson, NRTL, and UNIQUAC activity coefficient models were used to correlate the experimental data. The obtained results indicated that the UNIQUAC model was more suitable than the Wilson and NRTL models for correlating the measured isobaric VLE data.

Abstract:To separate the minimum-boiling azeotrope (propylene glycol methyl ether + water) in the production process of propylene glycol methyl ether, two extractive agents of chloroform and 2-ethylhexanoic acid were selected. The isobaric vapor-liquid phase equilibrium (VLE) data for three systems (chloroform + 2-ethylhexanoic acid), (propylene glycol methyl ether + 2-ethylhexanoic acid), and (chloroform + propylene glycol methyl ether) were measured at 101.3 kPa. Thermodynamic consistency of the measured VLE data was validated by the Herington and van Ness tests. The measured VLE data were well fitted with Hayden-O'Connell (HOC) thermodynamic models: nonrandom two-liquid-HOC, Wilson-HOC, and universal quasichemical-HOC with regressed parameters, respectively.

Abstract:The vapor-liquid equilibrium data of four binary systems (acetic acid + p-xylene, methyl acetate + n-propyl acetate, n-propyl acetate + p-xylene and methyl acetate + p-xylene) are measured at 101.33 kPa with Ellis equilibrium still, and then both the NRTL and UNIQUAC models are used in combination with the HOC model for correlating and estimating the vapor-liquid equilibrium of these four binary systems. The estimated binary VLE results using correlated parameters agree well with the measured data except the methyl acetate + p-xylene system which easily causes bumping and liquid rushing out of the sampling tap due to their dramatically different boiling points. The correlation results by NRTL and UNIQUAC models have little difference on the average absolute deviations of temperature and composition of vapor phase, and the results by NRTL model are slightly better than those by UNIQUAC model except …

Abstract:In this work, two ionic liquids (ILs), 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([EMIM][Br]) and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium diethylphosphate ([EMIM][DEP]), were used to separate the mixture of methanol and methyl ethyl ketone. Isobaric vapor–liquid equilibrium data for the binary system of methanol + methyl ethyl ketone and the ternary systems of methanol + methyl ethyl ketone + [EMIM][Br] and methanol + methyl ethyl ketone + [EMIM][DEP] were measured at 101.3 kPa. The results showed that the two ILs could enhance the relative volatility of methyl ethyl ketone to methanol. The more the content of ILs, the greater the relative volatility of methyl ethyl ketone to methanol. The azeotropic phenomenon of the methanol + methyl ethyl ketone system could be eliminated as the content of ILs reached a specific value. The order of separation ability of the two ILs is [EMIM][DEP] > [EMIM][Br]. Finally, the activity coefficient models including the NRTL model and the UNIFAC-Lei model were used to correlate the experimental vapor–liquid equilibrium data, and the correlated results showed that the NRTL model was more suitable to correlate the experimental data.

Abstract:Isobaric vapor liquid equilibria (VLE) data were measured at 101.3 kPa for three binary systems (water + 1-methoxy-2-propanol), (water + 2-methoxy-1-propanol), and (1-methoxy-2-propanol + 2-methoxy-1-propanol) by using a modified Rose-Williams still, in which both vapor and liquid phases circulate continuously. Positive deviations and azeotropic behaviors were found in systems (water + 1-methoxy-2-propanol) and (water + 2-methoxy-1-propanol), while a negative deviation was found in the system (1-methoxy-2-propanol + 2-rnethoxy-1-propanol). All of the experimental VLE data for the three binary systems were tested and verified to be thermodynamically consistent by the Herington area test and Van Ness point test. The nonideality of the vapor phase was corrected by the Hayden O'Connell method. The experimental isobaric VLE data were correlated'by using the universal quasichemical (UNIQUAC) and nonrandom two-liquid (NRTL) models, and the binary interaction parameters for the two models were reported. Results showed that both models correlated the experimental data with good accuracy.

Abstract:Isobaric vapor–liquid equilibria data have been determined at 101.3kPa for the binary mixtures of (2,3-butanediol+n-butanol), (2,3-butanediol+ethyl acetate) and (2,3-butanediol+butyl acetate). Thermodynamic consistency has been tested for all vapor–liquid equilibria data. The non-ideality of the vapor phase has been considered by using Hayden–O’Connell equation. The activity coefficients have been correlated satisfactorily with Margules, Wilson, NRTL, and UNIQUAC models.

Abstract:On the basis of the concept of local composition, a new model is proposed for correlating the Raman frequency shifts of a C-H stretching band over the whole concentration with only one energy parameter. Mixtures investigated include water + acetone, water + 2-propanol, water + N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), water + methanol, water + ethanol, water + 1,4-dioxane, water + dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), and water + acetonitrile systems. The vapor-liquid equilibrium data were predicted by the parameter obtained from the spectra and one activity coefficient at infinite dilution. In this way, the spectroscopic information can be,related to thermodynamic properties.

Abstract:CO 2 -based binary mixtures have good performance and environmental friendliness, which are considered a good choice for working fluid in cooling and power cycles. Analyzing the properties of the vapor-liquid equilibrium is used to calculate the enthalpy and entropy of the dew and bubble point, which are fundamental parameters of thermodynamics. In this study, we measure the vapor-liquid equilibrium experimental data of CO 2 -propylene mixture by static thermostatic analysis experimental system. The working fluids in this state are repeatedly collected from the equilibrium cell to the gas chromatograph by the two electromagnetic capillary samplers to analyze the molar fractions. The maximum pressure deviation and maximum relative pressure deviation of the saturation vapor pressure of propylene are -0.004 MPa and -0.38%, respectively. We measure 5 sets of isotherms from 283.73 to 323.72 K, two of which are supercritical temperatures (313.73 K and 323.72 K). The pressure is up to about 6.4 MPa. The standard experimental uncertainties of mole fractions, pressure, and temperature are within 0.004, 0.002 MPa, and 0.06 K, respectively. The association model (the Peng-Robinso equation incorporating the Wong-Sandler mixing rule and the Non-Random Two-Liquid model) is used to fit the obtained vapor-liquid equilibrium data. The value of the average absolute relative deviation of pressure (AARD p ) and the average absolute deviation of vapor phase molar fractions of component 1 (AAD y 1 ) is 0.29 % and 0.0062, respectively. The relative volatility under the five isotherms is also calculated, and most of the experimental data were within ± 5 % deviation.
