Abstract:This article concerns the planar Schrodinger-Poisson system -Delta u + V(x)u + phi u = f(x, u), x is an element of R-2, Delta phi = u(2), x is an element of R-2, where V(x) and f(x, u) are periodic or asymptotically periodic in x. By combining the variational approach, the non-Nehari manifold approach and new analytic techniques, we establish the existence of ground state solutions for the above problem in the periodic and asymptotically periodic cases. In particular, in our study, f is not required to satisfy the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz type condition or the Nehari-type monotonic condition.

Abstract:We study the existence of ground state solutions for the following Schrödinger‐Poisson equations: urn:x-wiley:mma:media:mma4602:mma4602-math-0001 where is the sum of a periodic potential Vp and a localized potential Vloc and f satisfies the subcritical or critical growth. Although the Nehari‐type monotonicity assumption on f is not satisfied in the subcritical case, we obtain the existence of a ground state solution as a minimizer of the energy functional on Nehari manifold. Moreover, we show that the existence and nonexistence of ground state solutions are dependent on the sign of Vloc.

Abstract:We study a coupled Schrödinger system with general nonlinearities. By using variational methods, we prove the existence and asymptotic behaviour of ground state solution for the system with periodic couplings. Moreover, we prove the existence and nonexistence of ground state solution for the system with non-periodic couplings via Nehari manifold method. Especially, the ground state solution with both nontrivial components is obtained, and the sign of nontrivial components is considered.

Abstract:We are concerned with the following Schrödinger–Poisson system: $$ \textstyle\begin{cases} -\Delta u+u+K(x)\phi u=a(x)u^{3},& x\in \mathbb{R}^{3}, \\ -\Delta \phi =K(x)u^{2}, & x\in \mathbb{R}^{3}. \end{cases} $$ Assuming that $K(x)$ and $a(x)$ are nonnegative functions satisfying $$ \lim_{|x|\rightarrow \infty }a(x)=a_{\infty }>0, \qquad \lim _{|x|\rightarrow \infty }K(x)=0, $$ and other suitable conditions, we show the existence of bound and ground states via a global compactness lemma and the Nehari manifold. Our result extends the existence result of positive solutions for Schrödinger–Poisson system with more than three times growth by Cerami and Vaira (J. Differ. Equ. 248:521–543, 2010) to the system with three times growth.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the following Schrodinger-Poisson system: {-Delta u + V(x)u + lambda phi(x)u = q(x) f (u), in R-3, -Delta phi = lambda u(2), in R-3, where V(x) is a real function on R-3 and the parameter A is an element of (0, +infinity), the nonlinearity f (s)/s tends to 0 and l is an element of (0, +infinity), respectively, as s -> 0(+) and s -> +infinity. Under appropriate assumptions on V, q and f, we give the existence of a positive ground state solution resolved by variational methods, which depends on the parameter lambda.

If V and f are both asymptotically periodic at infinity, we prove the existence of positive ground state solutions by combining the Nehari manifold methods with the Trudinger-Moser inequality.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the following Schrodinger-Poisson system with Hartree-type nonlinearity - u + u +.fu = (Ia * |u|p)|u|p-2u, inR3, -f = u2, in R3, where. > 0, 0 < a < 3, Ia is a Riesz potential and 3+ a 3 < p < 3 + a. By using the Pohozaev type identity and the filtration of Nehari manifold, we show the existence of positive ground state solutions for the above system.

Abstract:In this paper we study the following nonlinear Schrodinger equation {-Delta u+a(x)u=f(x,u), u epsilon H-1(R-N), where a is periodic with respect to x and f(x,u) is superlinear in u. Suppose that 0 lies in a gap of the spectrum sigma(-Delta+a). Without periodic assumption on f, we prove the existence of ground state solution for the system. Moreover, we obtain some sufficient conditions for the nonexistence of ground state solution.
