Abstract:The direct oxidative N-acylation reaction of primary amides with aryl/alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehydes was achieved in the presence of azolium salt C3 and an inorganic base using 3,3',5,5'-tetra-tert-butyldipherioquinone as the oxidant, thus providing an efficient approach for the synthesis of three types of imide compounds including N-sulfonylcarboxamides, N-sulfinylcarboxamides, and dicarboxyimides in good yield.

Abstract:A method for Cu(II)-catalyzed dehydrogenative amidation of azoarene using air as the terminal oxidant was developed. Various amides, such as arylamides, alkylamides, lactams, and imides, are all effective amidation reagents and provide the desired products in moderate to excellent yields. Notably, good yields can also be obtained on a gram-scale with this amidation reaction. In this protocol of azoarene amidation, the catalyst (Cu(OAc)2) and oxidant (air) are inexpensive and readily available, and the process is highly efficient and atom economical.

Abstract:Amides can be synthesized directly from aldehydes and amines in high yield using a catalyst. The reaction, involving aldehydes and amines, was carried out in a mixture containing choline chloride and aluminum nitrate as a solvent and a catalyst to produce amides. Such catalyst was far more effective compared to other current catalytic systems. The reaction consistently gave exceptionally remarkable results for various aldehyde and amine derivatives under the specified reaction conditions. This method offers several advantages, including easy separation of products, efficiency, environmentally safe nature of the solvent, and elimination of expensive and hazardous catalysts. These features emphasize the importance of such groundbreaking reactions. Due to the significant polar characteristics and insolubility of the resulting products in water, the addition of water into the reaction mixture facilitates the easy separation of the products from the reaction medium. Consequently, this particular ionic liquid method provides a simple route for the synthesis of these important compounds.

Abstract:A facile and direct intramolecular oxidative C(aryl)-H amidation reaction was developed for the synthesis of quinolino[3,4-b]quinoxalin-6(5H)-ones in moderate to excellent yields starting from readily available materials by tethering the adjacent N-methoxyamide and aryl portions in the presence of phenyliodine(III) bis(trifluoroacetate) at room temperature. This metal-free approach is a valuable addition to the traditional methods already available for the preparation of these molecules.

Abstract:The copper(I) bromide-catalyzed intermolecular dehydrogenative amidation of arenes via C-H bond activation assisted by a 2-pyridyl or 1-pyrazolyl chelating group using air as the terminal oxidant has been achieved at 140 degrees C. N-Aryl amides, N-alkyl amides, benzamide derivatives, imides, and lactams all are good coupling partners to obtain moderate to excellent yields. The amount of solvent is critical for the transformation: both increasing and decreasing the amount of solvent decreased the yield. Notably, the amidation of bimolecular 2-phenylpyridine with the dual N-H bonds of a primary amide proceeded smoothly in one-pot to afford a good yield under the same conditions. The amidation can be performed with a good yield at the gram scale.

Abstract:An simple, efficient method for the construction of an array of α-ketoamides has been described from readily available O-benzoyl hydroxylamines and diazo compounds as starting materials by the combined use of CuI as a catalyst and H2O as oxygen source. The mechanism research reveals that the O-benzoyl hydroxylamines serve a dual role as both amine source and oxidant, thereby obviating the need for additional oxidants in the transformation process. This methodology could afford a wider range of products in good to excellent yields for most substrates, and provides a new idea for synthesis of α-ketoamide.

Abstract:AbstractA novel copper‐catalyzed, multiple oxidative dehydrogenative functionalization of arylacetaldehydes leading to 2‐oxo‐acetamidine compounds has been developed. This transformation is highly efficient with dissociation of six hydrogens including two sp3 CH and one sp2 CH bond activations. This method not only provides an efficient approach to 2‐oxo‐acetamidine compounds, but also offers a valuable mechanistic insight into this novel copper catalysis.

Abstract:A copper-promoted intramolecular C–H oxidative amination reaction between secondary amine (N–H) and C(sp3)–H at the benzylic position of azaarenes or α-position of ketones for the synthesis of aziridine derivatives has been developed. Moreover, a practical annulation of electron-deficient vinylarenes with an unprotected primary alkyl amine by a Yb(OTf)3–CuI relay system has also been reported. The reactions were carried out with oxygen as the sole oxidant to give the N-alkyl- and N-arylaziridines in good yields.

Abstract:We report the first example of zinc-catalyzed cyanation of aryl iodides with formamide as the cyanogen source. The transformation was promoted by the bisphosphine Nixantphos ligand. Under optimized conditions, a variety of electron-donating and electron-withdrawing aryl iodides were converted into nitrile products in good to excellent yields. This approach is an exceedingly simple and benign method for the synthesis of aryl nitriles and is likely to proceed via a dinuclear Zn-concerted catalysis.

Abstract:An unprecedented oxidative arylation reaction of terminal alkenes with simple aroyl hydrazides has been developed under aerobic conditions for the stereoselective synthesis of 1,2-disubstituted alkenes. A range of aroyl hydrazides underwent palladium/copper-catalyzed oxidative Mizoroki-Heck reaction with terminal alkenes open to air in a 1:1 mixture of dimethyl sulfoxide and acetonitrile to give structurally diverse 1,2-disubstituted alkenes in moderate to excellent yields with excellent regio- and E-selectivity. The reaction tolerated a wide variety of functional groups, such as alkoxy, hydroxy, amino, fluoro, chloro, bromo, cyano, nitro, ester, amide, imide, phosphine oxide, and sulfone groups, and, moreover, molecular oxygen and dimethyl sulfoxide were demonstrated to serve as terminal oxidants. This study provides a useful method for the stereoselective synthesis of 1,2-disubstituted alkenes through direct transformation of the vinylic CH bonds in terminal alkenes.

Abstract:An unprecedented olefination reaction of secondary amines with carbon nucleophiles has been developed through C–N/C–H functionalization under metal‐free oxidative conditions. In the presence of a stoichiometric amount of 2,3‐dichloro‐5,6‐dicyano‐1,4‐benzoquinone (DDQ), a range of secondary N ‐alkylanilines smoothly underwent oxidative olefination with 2‐alkylazaarenes, acetophenone, and malononitrile to give structurally diverse polysubstituted alkenes in moderate to excellent yields with excellent ( E ) selectivity. Preliminary mechanistic studies revealed that the oxidative olefination reaction proceeds through amine oxidation followed by imine olefination.

Abstract:We describe a new strategy for aminoarylation of alkenes by copper-catalyzed smiles rearrangement using <i>O</i>-benzoylhydroxylamines as the amine reagent. This method affords various β-amino amide derivatives possessing a quaternary carbon center with wide functional group tolerance and high regioselectivity.
