Abstract:Let L=-\Delta+V be a Schrödinger operator on R^d, d\geq 3. We assume that V is a nonnegative, compactly supported potential that belongs to L^p(R^d), for some p>d/2. Let K_t be the semigroup generated by -L. We say that an L^1(R^d)-function f belongs to the Hardy space H_L^1 associated with L if sup_{t>0} |K_t f| belongs to L^1(R^d). We prove that f\in H_L^1 if and only if R_j f \in L^1(R^d) for j=1,...,d, where R_j= \frac{d}{dx_j} L^{-1/2} are the Riesz transforms associated with L.

Abstract:We study several problems related to the $\ell ^p$ boundedness of Riesz transforms for graphs endowed with so-called bounded Laplacians. Introducing a proper notion of the gradient of a function, we prove for $p\in (1,2]$ an $\ell ^p$ estimate for the gradient of the continuous time heat semigroup, an $\ell ^p$ interpolation inequality as well as the $\ell ^p$ boundedness of the modified Littlewood–Paley–Stein function for a graph with bounded Laplacian. This yields an analogue to Dungey’s results in [21] while removing some additional assumptions. Coming back to the classical notion of the gradient, we give a counterexample to the interpolation inequality and hence to the boundedness of Riesz transforms for bounded Laplacians for $1<p<2$. Finally, we prove the boundedness of the Riesz transform for $1< p<\infty $ under the assumption of positive spectral gap.
Lower bound of Riesz transform kernels revisited and commutators on stratified Lie groups

Abstract:Let 𝒢 be a stratified Lie group and {_j}_1 ≤ j ≤ n a basis for the left-invariant vector fields of degree one on 𝒢. Let Δ = ∑_j = 1^n _j^2 be the sub-Laplacian on 𝒢 and the j^th Riesz transform on 𝒢 is defined by R_j:= _j (-Δ)^-1/2, 1 ≤ j ≤ n. In this paper we give a new version of the lower bound of the kernels of Riesz transform R_j and then establish the Bloom-type two weight estimates as well as a number of endpoint characterisations for the commutators of the Riesz transforms and BMO functions, including the Llog^+L(𝒢) to weak L^1(𝒢), H^1(𝒢) to L^1(𝒢) and L^∞(𝒢) to BMO(𝒢). Moreover, we also study the behaviour of the Riesz transform kernel on a special case of stratified Lie group: the Heisenberg group, and then we obtain the weak type (1,1) characterisations for the Riesz commutators.

Abstract:We study the $L^\infty(\mathbb{R}^d)$ boundedness for Riesz transforms of the form ${V^{a}(-\frac12\Delta+V)^{-a}},$ where $a > 0$ and $V$ is a non-negative potential with power growth acting independently on each coordinate. We factorize the semigroup $e^{-tL}$ into one-dimensional factors, estimate them separately and combine the results to estimate the original semigroup. Similar results with additional assumption $a \leqslant 1$ are obtained on $L^1(\mathbb{R}^d)$.

Abstract:We provide a study of the Riesz transforms on stratified nilpotent Lie groups, and obtain a certain version of the pointwise lower bound of the Riesz transform kernel. Then we establish the characterisation of the BMO space on stratified nilpotent Lie groups via the boundedness of the commutator of the Riesz transforms and the BMO function. This extends the well-known Coifman, Rochberg, Weiss theorem from Euclidean space to the setting of stratified nilpotent Lie groups. In particular, these results apply to the wellknown example of the Heisenberg group. As an application, we also study the curl operator on the Heisenberg group and stratified nilpotent Lie groups, and establish the div-curl lemma with respect to the Hardy space on stratified nilpotent Lie groups.

Abstract:Let ${\mathscr{L}}=-\text{div}A\nabla$ be a uniformly elliptic operator on $\mathbb{R}^n$, $n\ge 2$. Let $\Omega$ be an exterior Lipschitz domain, and let ${\mathscr{L}}_D$ and ${\mathscr{L}}_N$ be the operator ${\mathscr{L}}$ on $\Omega$ subject to the Dirichlet and Neumann boundary values, respectively. We establish the boundedness of the Riesz transforms $\nabla{\mathscr{L}}_D^{-1/2}$, $\nabla {\mathscr{L}}_N^{-1/2}$ in $L^p$ spaces. As a byproduct, we show the reverse inequality $\|{\mathscr{L}}_D^{1/2}f\|_{L^p(\Omega)}\le C\|\nabla f\|_{L^p(\Omega)}$ holds for any $1<p<\infty$. The proof can be generalized to show the boundedness of the Riesz transforms, for operators with VMO coefficients on exterior Lipschitz or $C^1$ domains. The estimates can be also applied to the inhomogeneous Dirichlet and Neumann problems. These results are new even for the Dirichlet and Neumann of the Laplacian operator on the exterior Lipschitz and $C^1$ domains.

We establish its weak type $(1,1)$ property. In addition, we obtain the weak type $(1, 1)$ of the heat maximal operator in the same setting. Our arguments also work for a large class of direct product manifolds with exponential volume growth. Particularly, we provide a simpler proof of weak type $(1,1)$ boundedness of some operators considered in the work of Li, Sjögren and Wu [27].

We obtain weak type (1, 1) (so $L^p$-boundedness with $1< p < 2$) for the Riesz transform. As a consequence, we find that neither heat kernel Gaussian estimates nor sub-Gaussian estimates are necessary for weak (1, 1) property of Riesz transform.

This work generalizes inequalities for sup norms of products of polynomials, and reverse triangle inequalities for logarithmic potentials. The main tool used in the proofs is the representation for a power of the farthest distance function as a Riesz potential of a unit Borel measure.

Denote by the Hardy space, associated with both L and X , which is defined via the Lusin area function related to the semigroup generated by L . In this article, the authors establish both the maximal function and the Riesz transform characterizations of . The results obtained in this article have a wide range of generality and can be applied to the weighted Hardy space, the variable Hardy space, the mixed-norm Hardy space, the Orlicz–Hardy space, the Orlicz-slice Hardy space, and the Morrey–Hardy space, associated with L . In particular, even when L is a second order divergence form elliptic operator, both the maximal function and the Riesz transform characterizations of the mixed-norm Hardy space, the Orlicz-slice Hardy space, and the Morrey–Hardy space, associated with L , obtained in this article, are completely new.

Abstract:In dimensions d= 1, 2, 3 the Laplacian can be perturbed by a point potential. In higher dimensions the Laplacian with a point potential cannot be defined as a self-adjoint operator. However, for any dimension there exists a natural family of functions that can be interpreted as Green's functions of the Laplacian with a spherically symmetric point potential. In dimensions 1, 2, 3 they are the integral kernels of the resolvent of well-defined self-adjoint operators. In higher dimensions they are not even integral kernels of bounded operators. Their construction uses the so-called generalized integral, a concept going back to Riesz and Hadamard. We consider the Laplace(-Beltrami) operator on the Euclidean space, the hyperbolic space and the sphere in any dimension. We describe the corresponding Green's functions, also perturbed by a point potential. We describe their limit as the scaled hyperbolic space and the scaled sphere approach the Euclidean space. Especially interesting is the behavior of positive eigenvalues of the spherical Laplacian, which undergo a shift proportional to a negative power of the radius of the sphere. We expect that in any dimension our constructions yield possible behaviors of the integral kernel of the resolvent of a perturbed Laplacian far from the support of the perturbation. Besides, they can be viewed as toy models illustrating various aspects of renormalization in Quantum Field Theory, especially the point-splitting method and dimensional regularization.

Abstract:In this paper, our goal is to establish the Sobolev space associated to the partial harmonic oscillator. Based on its heat kernel estimate, we firstly give the definition of the fractional powers of the partial harmonic oscillator $$\AH=-\partial_{\rho}^2-\Delta_x+|x|^2,$$ and show that its negative powers are well defined on $L^p(\mathbb R^{d+1})$ for $p\in [1,\infty]$. We then define associated Riesz transforms and show that they are bounded on classical Sobolev spaces by the calculus of symbols.
