Abstract:In this paper, we consider the boundedness of Riesz potentials on positively curved manifolds. As an application, we get the greatest lower bound of the essential spectrum of a positively curved manifold.

Abstract:We prove that for a compact Finsler manifold M with nonnegative weighted Ricci curvature,if its first closed(resp.Neumann)eigenvalue of Finsler-Laplacian attains the sharp lower bound,then M is isometric to a circle(resp.a segment).Moreover,a lower bound of the first eigenvalue of Finsler-Laplacian with Dirichlet boundary condition is also estimated.These generalize the corresponding results in recent literature.

Abstract:Let M be an m-dimensional closed orientable submanifold in an n-dimensional Riemannian manifold N. When the sectional curvature of N is bounded above by delta, we obtain an upper bound for the first nonzero eigenvalue of the p-Laplacian in terms of the second fundamental form of M and d. This generalizes the Reilly-type inequality for the Laplacian (Heintze, 1988; Reilly, 1977) to the p-Laplacian and extends the work of Chen and Wei (2019) and Du and Mao (2015) for the p-Laplacian. Abstract:Considering an n$n$-dimensional Riemannian manifold M$M$ whose sectional curvature is bounded above by kappa <= 0$\kappa \leqslant 0$ and Ricci curvature is bounded below by (n-1)K$(n-1)K$, we obtain an upper bound of the harmonic mean of the first (n-1)$(n-1)$ nonzero Steklov eigenvalues for domains contained in M$M$. This can be viewed as certain isoperimetric inequality and generalizes the result on comparing the first nonzero Steklov eigenvalues for such domains (Li-Wang-Wu, 2020, arXiv:2003.03093).

Abstract:Given a compact Riemannian manifold M^ the Poincare inequality tells us that for any smooth function/defined on M with / = 0, we can estimate f 2 in terms of | V/ P. JM JM JM By the minimax-principle, one knows that the best possible constant in the Poincare inequality is given by the first eigenvalue of the Laplacian.While this constant has analytic importance, it also gives strong insight in the geometry of the manifold.The upper estimate of the first eigenvalue has been discussed by many authors.J. Hersch [11] obtained an upper bound for manifolds homeomorphic to the two sphere.J. Cheeger [5], I. Chavel and E. Feldman [4] (see also Mazet [12] for generalization) obtained upper bound for manifolds with non-negative Ricci curvature.The comparison theorem of S. Y. Cheng [8] gives s sharp upper bound for general Riemannian manifold in terms of the lower bound of the Ricci curvature and the diameter.While these progress had been made on the upper bound, not too many is known about the lower bound of the first eigenvalue.The best result is due to Lichnerowicz (see [1]) who gives a computable sharp lower bound for manifolds whose Ricci curvature is bounded from below by a positive constant.J. Cheeger [6] also gives a lower bound for general manifolds in terms of some isoperimetric constants.These constants of Cheeger, however, are not readily computable.Cheng [7] has observed that if the manifold is a two dimensional convex surface, then the isoperimetric constant has a lower bound in terms of the diameter.In this paper, we give a computable lower bound of the first eigenvalue of a general Riemannian manifold in terms of the lower bound of the Ricci curvature, the upper bound of the diameter and the lower bound of the volume.Actually, we have obtained the lower bound for the isoperimetric constants similar to those of Cheeger.We can also obtain a Sobolev inequality for a general Riemannian manifold.The first half of this paper is devoted to studying the two dimensional surfaces where better estimates for the isoperimetric constants are obtained.The second half of the paper is the proof of the main theorem.We shall come back to discuss the main theorem in a latter occasion.

Abstract:Let M be an n(>2)-dimensional closed orientable submanifold in an (n+p)-dimensional space form Rn+p(c). We obtain an optimal upper bound for the second eigenvalue of a class of elliptic operators on M defined by LTf=−div(T∇f), where T is a general symmetric, positive definite and divergence-free (1,1)-tensor on M. The upper bound is given in terms of an integration involving tr T and |HT|2, where tr T is the trace of the tensor T and HT=∑i=1nA(Tei,ei) is a normal vector field associated with T and the second fundamental form A of M. Furthermore, we give the sufficient and necessary conditions when the upper bound is attained. Our main theorem can be viewed as an extension of the famous “Reilly inequality”. The operator LT can be regarded as a natural generalization of the well-known operator Lr which is the linearized operator of the first variation of the (r+1)-th mean curvature for hypersurfaces in a space form. As applications of our main theorem, we generalize the results of Grosjean [17] and Li–Wang [20] in codimension one to arbitrary codimension.

Abstract:The authors introduce a class of generalized Riesz potentials with kernels having weak regularity on spaces of homogeneous type in the sense of Coifman and Weiss and establish their boundedness on Lebesgue spaces and Hardy spaces. As applications, the authors obtain the boundedness on Lebesgue spaces and Hardy spaces of commutators generated by Lipschitz functions and generalized Riesz potentials or Calderon-Zygmund operators with kernels having weak regularity on spaces of homogeneous type.

Abstract:Let M be an n -dimensional compact Riemannian manifold with or without boundary, and its Ricci curvature Ric M ⩾ n −1. The paper obtains an inequality for the first eigenvalue η 1 of M with mixed boundary condition, which is a generalization of the results of Lichnerowicz, Reilly, Escobar and Xia. It is also proved that η 1 ⩾ n for certain n -dimensional compact Riemannian manifolds with boundary, which is an extension of the work of Cheng, Li and Yau.

Abstract:This paper investigates the first Dirichlet eigenvalue of bounded domains for the $p$-Laplacian in complete Riemannian manifolds. Firstly, we establish a lower bound for this eigenvalue under the condition that the domain includes a specific function which fulfills certain criteria related to divergence and gradient conditions. As an application, we show that $p(\lambda_{1,p})^{1/p}$ is an increasing function about $p.$ We further explore Barta's inequality and other relevant applications stemming from this foundational result. In the subsequent section, we introduce an enhanced lower bound for the eigenvalue, which is linked to the distance function defined in the domain. As a practical application, we provide an estimation for the first Dirichlet eigenvalue of geodesic balls with large radius in asymptotically hyperbolic Einstein manifolds.

Abstract:The Riesz potential and its potential theory are closely related to the regularity of solutions to partial differential equations. In this paper, we investigate a class of Minkowski type problems that are closely associated with convex geometry and geometric probability. This investigation leads to a novel result regarding the boundary regularity of the Riesz potential, which is essential for developing the regularity theory of a new nonlocal {M}onge-{A}mpère equation. As an initial application, the existence of a smooth solution to the chord log-Minkowski problem shall be obtained from the perspective of a nonlocal elliptical partial differential equation and a nonlocal Gauss curvature flow equation.

Abstract:In this paper we consider a random potential derived from the Brownian motion. We obtain upper and lower bounds for the expected value of the main eigenvalue of the associated Ruelle operator and for its quenched topological pressure. We also exhibit an isomorphism between the space $C(\Omega)$ endowed with its standard norm and a proper closed subspace of the Skorokhod space which is used to obtain a stochastic functional equation for the main eigenvalue and for its associated eigenfunction.

Abstract:On closed Riemannian manifolds with Bakry-Émery Ricci curvature bounded from below and bounded gradient of the potential function, we obtain lower bounds for all positive eigenvalues of the Beltrami-Laplacian instead of the weighted Laplacian. The lower bound of the k th eigenvalue depends on k , the lower bound of Bakry-Émery Ricci curvature, the gradient bound of the potential function, and the dimension and diameter upper bound of the manifold, but the volume of the manifold is not involved.

Abstract:For a geodesic ball with non-negative Ricci curvature and mean convex boundary, it is known that the first Dirichlet eigenvalue of this geodesic ball has a sharp lower bound in term of its radius. We show a quantitative explicit inequality, which bounds the width of geodesic ball in terms of the spectral gap between the first Dirichlet eigenvalue and the corresponding sharp lower bound.

Abstract:In this work, optimal rigidity results for eigenvalues on Kähler manifolds with positive Ricci lower bound are established. More precisely, for those Kähler manifolds whose first eigenvalue agrees with the Ricci lower bound, we show that the complex projective space is the only one with the largest multiplicity of the first eigenvalue. Moreover, there is a specific gap between the largest and the second largest multiplicity. In the Kähler--Einstein case, almost rigidity results for eigenvalues are also obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we obtain geometric upper bounds for the first eigenvalue $\lambda_1^J$ of the Jacobi operator for both closed and compact with boundary hypersurfaces having constant mean curvature (CMC). As an application, we derive new rigidity results for the area of CMC hypersurfaces under suitable conditions on $\lambda_1^J$ and the curvature of the ambient space. We also address the Jacobi-Steklov problem, proving geometric upper bounds for its first eigenvalue $\sigma_1^J$ and deriving rigidity results related to the length of the boundary. Additionally, we present some results in higher dimensions related to the Yamabe invariants.

An improved variational formula, a general common estimate, and a new sharp one are added. The best lower estimates are now updated. Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to study the eigenvalues {λμ,i}i for the Dirichlet Hardy-Leray operator, i.e. −∆u+ μ|x|u = λu in Ω, u = 0 on ∂Ω, where −∆ + μ |x| is the Hardy-Leray operator with μ ≥ − (N−2) 4 and Ω is a smooth bounded domain with 0 ∈ Ω. We provide lower bounds of {λμ,i}i together with the Li-Yau’s one for μ > − (N−2) 2 4 and Karachalio’s one for μ ∈ [− (N−2) 4 , 0). Secondly, we obtain Cheng-Yang’s type upper bounds for λμ,k. Finally, we get the Weyl’s limit of eigenvalues which is independent of the potential’s parameter μ. This interesting phenomena indicates that the inverse-square potential does not play an essential role for the asymptotic behavior of the spectral of the problem considered.
