Abstract:In this paper, we study the Hamiltonicity of graphs with large minimum degree. Firstly, we present some conditions for a simple graph to be Hamilton-connected and traceable from every vertex in terms of the spectral radius of the graph or its complement respectively. Secondly, we give the conditions for a nearly balanced bipartite graph to be traceable in terms of spectral radius, signless Laplacian spectral radius of the graph or its quasi-complement respectively.

Abstract:In this paper, we give sufficient conditions on the spectral radius for a bipartite graph to Hamiltonian and traceable, which expand the results of Lu, Liu and Tian (2012) [10]. Furthermore, we also present tight sufficient conditions on the signless Laplacian spectral radius for a graph to Hamiltonian and traceable, which improve the results of Yu and Fan (2012) [12].

Abstract:In this paper, we give a method to characterize graphs determined by their adjacency spectrum. At first, we give two parameters Π1(G) and Π2(G), which are related to coefficients of the characteristic polynomial of graph G. All connected graphs with Π1(G)∈{1,0,−1,−2,−3} and Π2(G)∈{0,−1,−2,−3} are characterized. Some interesting properties of Π1(G) and Π2(G) are also given. We then find the necessary and sufficient conditions for two classes of graphs to be determined by their adjacency spectrum.
A survey on spectral conditions for some extremal graph problems

Abstract:This survey is two-fold. We first report new progress on the spectral extremal results on the Turán type problems in graph theory. More precisely, we shall summarize the spectral Turán function in terms of the adjacency spectral radius and the signless Laplacian spectral radius for various graphs. For instance, the complete graphs, general graphs with chromatic number at least three, complete bipartite graphs, odd cycles, even cycles, color-critical graphs and intersecting triangles. The second goal is to conclude some recent results of the spectral conditions on some graphical properties. By a unified method, we present some sufficient conditions based on the adjacency spectral radius and the signless Laplacian spectral radius for a graph to be Hamiltonian, $k$-Hamiltonian, $k$-edge-Hamiltonian, traceable, $k$-path-coverable, $k$-connected, $k$-edge-connected, Hamilton-connected, perfect matching and $\beta$-deficient.

Abstract:For a graph G and an integer k≥2 , the k-power of G is the graph with vertex set V(G) in which two vertices are adjacent if and only if their distance is at most k in G . In this paper, we study spectral conditions for a graph to contain a copy of k -power of Hamilton cycle. This solves a problem proposed in [20] .

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss the Hamiltonicity of graphs in terms of Wiener index, hyper-Wiener index and Harary index of their quasi-complement or complement. Firstly, we give some sufficient conditions for an balanced bipartite graph with given the minimum degree to be traceable and Hamiltonian, respectively. Secondly, we present some sufficient conditions for a nearly balanced bipartite graph with given the minimum degree to be traceable. Thirdly, we establish some conditions for a graph with given the minimum degree to be traceable and Hamiltonian, respectively. Finally, we provide some conditions for a $k$-connected graph to be Hamilton-connected and traceable for every vertex, respectively.

Abstract:It is well known that, an energy is in the spectrum of Fibonacci Hamiltonian if and only if the corresponding trace orbit is bounded. However, it is not known whether the same result holds for the Thue–Morse Hamiltonian. In this paper, we give a negative answer to this question. More precisely, we construct two subsets Σ _II and Σ _III of the spectrum of the Thue–Morse Hamiltonian, both of which are dense and uncountable, such that each energy in Σ _II∪Σ _III corresponds to an unbounded trace orbit. Exact estimates on the norm of the transfer matrices are also obtained for these energies: for E∈Σ _II∪Σ _III, the norms of the transfer matrices behave like e^c_1γ√(n)≤‖ T_ n(E)‖≤ e^c_2γ√(n). However, two types of energies are quite different in the sense that each energy in Σ _II is associated with a two-sided pseudo-localized state, while each energy in Σ _III is associated with a one-sided pseudo-localized state. The difference is also reflected by the local dimensions of the spectral measure: the local dimension is 0 for energies in Σ _II and is larger than 1 for energies in Σ _III. As a comparison, we mention another known countable dense subset Σ _I . Each energy in Σ _I corresponds to an eventually constant trace map and the associated eigenvector is an extended state. In summary, the Thue–Morse Hamiltonian exhibits “mixed spectral nature”.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{G}=\{G_1,\ldots,G_n \}$ be a family of graphs of order $n$ with the same vertex set. A rainbow Hamiltonian cycle in $\mathcal{G}$ is a cycle that visits each vertex precisely once such that any two edges belong to different graphs of $\mathcal{G}$. We obtain a rainbow version of Ore's size condition of Hamiltonicity, and pose a related problem. Towards a solution of that problem, we give a sufficient condition for the existence of a rainbow Hamiltonian cycle in terms of the spectral radii of the graphs in $\mathcal{G}$ and completely characterize the corresponding extremal graphs.

Spectral Turán problems for hypergraphs with bipartite or multipartite pattern

Abstract:General criteria on spectral extremal problems for hypergraphs were developed by Keevash, Lenz, and Mubayi in their seminal work (SIAM J. Discrete Math., 2014), in which extremal results on \alpha-spectral radius of hypergraphs for \alpha>1 may be deduced from the corresponding hypergraph Turán problem which has the stability property and whose extremal construction satisfies some continuity assumptions. Using this criterion, we give two general spectral Turán results for hypergraphs with bipartite or mulitpartite pattern, transform corresponding the spectral Turán problems into pure combinatorial problems with respect to degree-stability of a nondegenerate k-graph family. As an application, we determine the maximum \alpha-spectral radius for some classes of hypergraphs and characterize the corresponding extremal hypergraphs, such as the expansion of complete graphs, the generalized Fans, the cancellative hypergraphs, the generalized triangles, and a special book hypergraph.

Abstract:For a connected graph, the distance spectral radius is the largest eigenvalue of its distance matrix, and the distance energy is defined as the sum of the absolute values of the eigenvalues of its distance matrix. We establish lower and upper bounds for the distance spectral radius of graphs and bipartite graphs, lower bounds for the distance energy of graphs, and characterize the extremal graphs. We also discuss upper bounds for the distance energy.

Abstract:The spectral radius of a (directed) graph is the largest eigenvalue of adjacency matrix of the (directed) graph. We give the relation on the characteristic polynomials of a directed graph and its line graph, and obtain sharp bounds on the spectral radius of directed graphs. We also give the relation on the spectral radii of a graph and its line graph. As a consequence, the spectral radius of a connected graph does not exceed that of its line graph except that the graph is a path.

Abstract:It is well known that a graph $G$ has a symmetric spectrum if and only if it is bipar?tite, a signed graph $\Gamma=(G,\sigma)$ has a symmetric spectrum if $G$ is bipartite. However, there exists a spectrally symmetric signed graph $\Gamma=(G,\sigma)$ such that $G$ is not bipar?tite. In this paper, we focus to characterize the signed graphs with symmetric spectra. Some necessary and (or) sufficient conditions for spectrally symmetric signed graphs are given. Moreover, some methods to construct signed graphs with symmetric spec?tra are found and infinite families of these signed graphs are produced.

Abstract:Let $F$ be a graph and let $\mathcal{B}_r(F)$ be the class of $r$-uniform Berge-$F$ hypergraphs. In this paper, by establishing a relationship between the spectral radius of the adjacency tensor of a uniform hypergraph and its local structure via walks, we give a spectral asymptotic bound for $\mathcal{B}_{r}(C_3)$-free linear $r$-uniform hypergraphs and upper bounds for the spectral radii of $\mathcal{B}_{r}(K_{2,t})$-free or $\{\mathcal{B}_{r}(K_{s,t}),\mathcal{B}_{r}(C_{3})\}$-free linear $r$-uniform hypergraphs, where $C_{3}$ and $K_{s,t}$ are respectively the triangle and the complete bipartite graph with one part having $s$ vertices and the other part having $t$ vertices. Our work implies an upper bound for the number of edges of $\{\mathcal{B}_{r}(K_{s,t}),\mathcal{B}_{r}(C_{3})\}$-free linear $r$-uniform hypergraphs, and extends some known work on (spectral) extreme problems of hypergraphs.

Abstract:A hierarchy associated with the Li spectral problem is derived with the help of the zero curvature equation. It is shown that the hierarchy possesses bi-Hamiltonian structure and is integrable in the Liouville sense. Moreover, the mono- and binary-nonlinearization theory can be successfully applied in the spectral problem. Under the Bargmann symmetry constraints, Lax pairs and adjoint Lax pairs are nonlineared into finite-dimensional Hamiltonian systems (FDHS) in the Liouville sense. New involutive solutions for the Li hierarchy are obtained.

Abstract:A graph $G$ is said to have the Hereditarily Bounded Property $P_{t,r}$ if, for each subgraph $H$ of $G$ containing at least $t$ vertices, the size of $H$ satisfies $|E(H)| \leq t \cdot |V(H)| + r$. In 1996, Guiduli proposed the following problem: If a graph $G$ possesses the property $P_{t,r}$, where $t$ is a positive real number and $r$ is a real number such that $r \geq -\binom{\lfloor t+1 \rfloor}{2}$, does it follow that the spectral radius $\rho(G)$ is upper-bounded by $c(s,t) + \sqrt{\lfloor t \rfloor n}$, where $s = \binom{t+1}{2} + r$? In this paper, we provide an affirmative resolution to Guiduli's problem.
