Abstract:Let M be a k-vector space and R is an element of Hom(M-circle timesp, M-circle timesq), we present a general version of,the FRT-construction, we provide a method for examining whether an FRT-bialgebra A(R) has-a pre-braided structure and whether M can be regarded as an A(R)-dimodule. We show that the FRT-relation plays a fundamental role in determining the algebra structure on the FRT-bialgebra and the compatibility condition of relevant dimodule. As an example, we give a Hopf algebra approach for solving both homogeneous and non-homogeneous nonlinear (algebraic) equations.

Abstract:Let (X, tau(1)) and (Y, tau(2)) be two Hausdorff locally convex spaces with continuous duals X, and Y', respectively, L (X, Y) be the space of all continuous linear operators from X into Y, K (X, Y) be the space of all compact operators of L (X, Y). Let WOT and UOT be the weak operator topology and uniform operator topology on K (X, Y), respectively. In this paper, we characterize a full-invariant property of K (X, Y); that is, if the sequence space X has the signed-weak gliding hump property, then each; lambda-multiplier WOT-convergent series Sigma(i) T-i in K(X, Y) must be X-multiplier convergent with respect to all topologies between WOT and UOT if and only if each continuous linear operator T: (X, tau(1)) --> or (lambda(beta), sigma(lambda(beta),lambda)) is compact. Structure theorem of a right Hopf module over a right Hopf algebra

Abstract:In this paper, the major result is the structure theorem of a right Hopf module over a right Hopf algebra, which is a generalization of the structure theorem of a right Hopf module over a Hopf algebra. An example is given. As a preparation, homological properties are studied firstly on right Hopf modules over a bialgebra. Moreover, right Hopf algebras and their right Hopf modules are discussed through integrals. At last, for a right Hopf algebra H, a necessary and sufficient condition is given under which Hdegrees = H*(rat) becomes a right H-Hopf module such that Hdegrees congruent to (integral circle timesH) circle times (Hdegrees/Im alpha).

Abstract:Associated with an augmented differential graded algebra R = R ≥ 0 is a homotopy invariant T ( R ) . This is a graded vector space, and if H 0 ( R ) is the ground field and H > N ( R ) = 0 then dim T ( R ) = 1 if and only if H ( R ) is a Poincaré duality algebra. In the case of Sullivan extensions ∧ W → ∧ W ⊗ ∧ Z → ∧ Z in which dim H ( ∧ Z ) < ∞ we show that T ( ∧ W ⊗ ∧ Z ) = T ( ∧ W ) ⊗ T ( ∧ Z ) . This is applied to finite dimensional CW complexes X where the fundamental group G acts nilpotently in the cohomology H ( X ˜ ; Q ) of the universal covering space. If H ( X ; Q ) is a Poincaré duality algebra and H ( X ˜ ; Q ) and H ( B G ; Q ) are finite dimensional then they are also Poincaré duality algebras.

Abstract:In this paper, we give another definition of Ruston elements and almost Ruston elements, which is equivalent to the definitions given by Mouton and Raubenheimer in the case that the homomorphism has a closed range and Riesz property. For two homomorphisms, we consider the preserver problems of Fredholm theory and Fredholm spectrum theory. In addition, we study the spectral mapping theorems of Fredholm (Weyl, Browder, Ruston, and almost Ruston) elements relative to a homomorphism. Last but not least, the dependence of Fredholm theory on three homomorphisms is considered, and meanwhile, the transitivity of Fredholm theory relative to three homomorphisms is illustrated. Furthermore, we consider the Fredholm theory relative to more homomorphisms.

Abstract:In a previous paper, the second author introduced a compact topology τr on the space of closed ideals of a unital Banach algebra A. If A is separable, then τr is either metrizable or else neither Hausdorff nor first countable. Here it is shown that τr is Hausdorff if A is C1[0, 1], but that if A is a uniform algebra, then τr is Hausdorff if and only if A has spectral synthesis. An example is given of a strongly regular, uniform algebra for which every maximal ideal has a bounded approximate identity, but which does not have spectral synthesis. 1991 Mathematics Subject Classification 46H10.

The Blackadar-Handelman theorem for non-unital C*-algebras

Abstract:A well-known theorem of Blackadar and Handelman states that every unital stably finite C*-algebra has a bounded quasitrace. Rather strong generalizations of stable finiteness to the non-unital case can be obtained by either requiring the multiplier algebra to be stably finite, or alternatively requiring it to be at least stably not properly infinite. This paper deals with the question whether the Blackadar-Handelman result can be extended to the non-unital case with respect to these generalizations of stable finiteness. For suitably well-behaved C*-algebras there is a positive result, but none of the non-unital versions holds in full generality. Two examples of C*-algebras are constructed. The first one is a non-unital, stably commutative C*-algebra $A$ that contradicts the weakest possible generalization of the Blackadar-Handelman theorem: The multiplier algebras of all matrix algebras over $A$ are finite, while $A$ has no bounded quasitrace. The second example is a non-unital, simple C*-algebra $B$ that is stably non-stable, i.e. no matrix algebra over $B$ is a stable C*-algebra. In fact, the multiplier algebras over all matrix algebras of this C*-algebra are not properly infinite. Moreover, the C*-algebra $B$ has no bounded quasitrace and therefore gives a simple counterexample to a possible generalization of the Blackadar-Handelman theorem.

Abstract:Let A and B be unital C*-algebras, and let J ∈ A, L ∈B be Hermitian invertible elements. For every T ∈ A and S ∈ B, define Tj+ = J-1T*J and S+L = L-1S*L. Then in such a way we endow the C*-algebras A and B with indefinite structures. We characterize firstly the Jordan (J, L)-+-homomorphisms on C*-algebras. As applications, we further classify the bounded linear maps Φ: A →B preserving (J, L)-unitary elements. When A =B(H) andB =B(K), where H and K are infinite dimensional and complete indefinite inner product spaces on real orcomplex fields, we prove that indefinite-unitary preserving bounded linear surjectionsare of the form T → UVTV-1 (( )T ∈ B(H)) or T → UVT+V-1 (( )T ∈ B(H)),where U ∈ B(K) is indefinite unitary and, V: H → K is generalized indefinite unitary in the first form and generalized indefinite anti-unitary in the second one.Some results on indefinite orthogonality preserving additive maps are also given.

Abstract:Let A=⊕i=0cAi be a graded Artinian K-algebra, where Ac≠(0) and charK=0. (The grading may not necessarily be standard.) Then A has the strong Lefschetz property if there exists an element g∈A1 such that the multiplication ×gc−2i:Ai→Ac−i is bijective for every i=0,1,…,[c/2]. The main results obtained in this paper are as follows:1.A has the strong Lefschetz property if and only if there is a linear form z∈A1 such that Gr(z)(A) has the strong Lefschetz property.2.If A is Gorenstein, then A has the strong Lefschetz property if and only if there is a linear form z∈A such that all central simple modules of (A,z) have the strong Lefschetz property.3.A finite free extension of an Artinian K-algebra with the strong Lefschetz property has the strong Lefschetz property if the fiber does.4.The complete intersection defined by power sums of consecutive degrees has the strong Lefschetz property.

Abstract:Let R be a commutative local noetherian ring, and let L and L' be R-modules. We investigate the properties of the functors Tor_i^R(L,-) and Ext^i_R(L,-). For instance, we show the following: (a) if L is artinian and L' is noetherian, then Hom_R(L,L') has finite length; (b) if L and L' are artinian, then the tensor product L \otimes_R L' has finite length; (c) if L and L' are artinian, then Tor_i^R(L,L') is artinian, and Ext^i_R(L,L') is noetherian over the completion \hat R; and (d) if L is artinian and L' is Matlis reflexive, then Ext^i_R(L,L'), Ext^i_R(L',L), and Tor_i^R(L,L') are Matlis reflexive. Also, we study the vanishing behavior of these functors, and we include computations demonstrating the sharpness of our results.

A note on the positivity of inverse operators acting on $C^*$-algebras

Abstract:For a positive and invertible linear operator $T$ acting on a $C^*$-algebra, we give necessary and sufficient criteria for the inverse operator $T^{-1}$ to be positive, too. Moreover, a simple counterexample shows that $T^{-1}$ need not be positive even if $T$ is unital and its spectrum is contained in the unit circle.

Abstract:In this note, we provide a description of the structure of homomorphisms from a finitely generated group to any torsion-free (3-dimensional) Kleinian group with uniformly bounded finite covolume. This is analogous to the Jorgensen-Thurston Theorem in hyperbolic geometry.

Abstract:We show that every unital invertibility preserving linear map from a von Neumann algebra onto a semi-simple Banach algebra is a Jordan homomorphism; this gives an affirmative answer to a problem of Kaplansky for all von Neumann algebras. For a unital linear map Φ from a semi-simple complex Banach algebra onto another, we also show that the following statements are equivalent: (1) Φ is an homomorphism; (2) Φ is completely invertibility preserving; (3) Φ is 2-invertibility preserving.
An Initial Algebra Theorem Without Iteration

Abstract:The Initial Algebra Theorem by Trnková et al.~states, under mild assumptions, that an endofunctor has an initial algebra provided it has a pre-fixed point. The proof crucially depends on transfinitely iterating the functor and in fact shows that, equivalently, the (transfinite) initial-algebra chain stops. We give a constructive proof of the Initial Algebra Theorem that avoids transfinite iteration of the functor. For a given pre-fixed point $A$ of the functor, it uses Pataraia's theorem to obtain the least fixed point of a monotone function on the partial order formed by all subobjects of $A$. Thanks to properties of recursive coalgebras, this least fixed point yields an initial algebra. We obtain new results on fixed points and initial algebras in categories enriched over directed-complete partial orders, again without iteration. Using transfinite iteration we equivalently obtain convergence of the initial-algebra chain as an equivalent condition, overall yielding a streamlined version of the original proof.

Abstract:The aim of the present work is to systematically study homomorphisms of Hecke and Artin monoids and thus to develop their comprehensive theory. Our original motivation was the striking observation that parabolic projections of Hecke monoids respect all parabolic elements. We found other classes of homomorphisms of Hecke monoids with the same property and discovered that many of them lift to homomorphisms of covering Artin monoids with a similar property. It turned out that they belong to a much larger class (in fact, a category) of homomorphisms of Artin monoids, most of which appear to be new.

Abstract:We prove that an aggregate Toeplitz operator on the Fréchet space of all entire functions is a Fredholm operator if and only if its symbol does not vanish. The result is motivated by and closely resembles the classical result of Gohberg and Douglas from the Hardy space theory of Toeplitz operators. There are however some subtle differences which we also discuss.

Abstract:Let $\Gamma$ be a torsionless commutative cancellative monoid, $R=\bigoplus_{\alpha \in \Gamma}R_{\alpha}$ be a $\Gamma$-graded integral domain. In this note we show that each homogeneous star operation $\star:\mathbf{HF}(R)\to\mathbf{HF}(R)$ of $R$, is the restriction of a (classical) star operation $e(\star):F(R)\to F(R)$ of $R$. We also show that the set $HStar_f(R)$ of homogeneous star operations of finite type on $R$, endowed with the Zariski topology, is a spectral space.
