Two Factors of Explaining Institutions： Function and Deep Structure

Abstract:This article discusses and compares the three ways of explaining institutions： the way of institutional functions, the way of the institutional deep structure and the way of game theory. We can put the three ways together to form an intergrated analytical framework in the empirical studies in institu- tions. The intergrated analytical framework is： first, we seek the explaining variables in the ways of the functions and the deep structure of the institutions; second, we make a game theory model in order to construct the linkage in the explaining the variables and the institutions.
