Abstract:Due to the increasing demand for large-tonnage construction machinery, the manufacturers call for a reliable and inexpensive proportional control valve with large flow capacity. In this work, a novel throttle poppet valve based on hydraulic-feedback principle has been studied comprehensively and optimized to meet the requirements of the construction machinery. A detailed and precise mathematical model has been developed and validated through experiments. According to the model, basic status of the valve under different working conditions has been analyzed, and the impacts of the parameters on the performances of response speed and the pressure stiffness have been studied through the root locus method. To find the optimal parameters suitable for construction machinery, an optimization based on non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II was carried out, and the performances have been significantly improved. Finally, by adopting the analysis on the parameters and the optimization results, guidelines for designing the hydraulic-feedback proportional valve in various sizes are presented.

Abstract:The designing of water hydraulic throttle orifices and cavitation testing model was introduced.The experiments were carried out with different supply pressure,flow rate and the opening of orifices.The experimental results show that throttle orifices based on special structure can effectively restrain cavitation at same pressure difference and same flow rate,compared with cone-shaped orifice in common.

Abstract:Abstract As the key device of the secondary circuit system, the main feed water regulating valve plays a significant role in controlling water level, whose reliability directly affects the safety of the nuclear power plant. During the use of the main feed water regulating valve, the movement and stress state of the valve core are affected by the hydraulic force and the hydraulic torque, which is related to the accuracy and stability of the valve. In this paper, a typical throttling window type of main feed water regulating valve was taken as the research object, the shape coefficient of the throttling window was defined, and the effect of the throttling window shape on the force characteristics of the valve core under variable opening was analyzed. The results show that as the valve opening increases, the direction of valve core axial hydraulic force changes. And with the increase of the shape coefficient of the throttling window, the maximum axial hydraulic force and the maximum lateral hydraulic force of valve core first decrease and then increase, and the maximum hydraulic torque increases gradually. This study can provide some references for the optimal design of similar main feed water regulating valves.
Study on Water Hydraulic Directional Valve with Plane Piston Structure

Abstract:For dealing with the serious impact generating easily by sudden reversal,an improved structure of water hydraulic directional valve was developed.When new water hydraulic directional valve was designed and manufactured,traditional space seal was changed to direct seal,and compaction force between main valve spool and main valve pocket was logically designed,damper in pilot valve port was matched with sensitive cavity in main valve.After computational fluid dynamics(CFD)approaches were applied to simulate the flow in the main valve flow passage, the structure of flow passage was optimized after analyzing the results of simulation,and static test,dynamic test and life test were carried out.The results show that the valve has fine dynamic characteristics and reverses rapidly.The impact is low when reversing and the primary components are not damaged after continuously reversing ten thousand times.The performance of the water hydraulic directional valve can achieve the level of traditional oil hydraulic directional valve.

Abstract:In this work, one kind of proportional throttle cartridge valve which is based on hydraulic-feedback principle is studied comprehensively. A detailed precise mathematical model is built. Analysis of the model shows that the model varies greatly depending on the operating point chosen for the linearization. The influences of design parameters are studied through root locus method and several parameters are picked out which have great impact on the dynamic performance. Then an optimization based on iterative eigenvalue configuration is implemented. After the optimization, the performance of the valve is improved effectively.

Abstract:A high pressure electronic pneumatic pressure reducing valve, consisted of a two-position three-port pilot valve controlled by electromagnet and a piston type main valve, was proposed. The valve used a pressure sensor and a controller to constitute the closed-loop feedback. By consuming a little gas in the pilot valve, rapidity and stability of pressure regulation were preserved, the influences of pilot leakage on the valve and unexpected icing in pilot valve could be avoided. Then the characteristics were analyzed based on the structure and working principle of the valve, finally the simulation model including the vibration of gas supply pressure and load flow rate was built up with AMESim. Simulation results showed that steady pressure reduction could be achieved under the condition of gas supply pressure slowly reducing and load flow rate fluctuating in a big range. When gas supply pressure is 31.5MPa, the output pressure could be steady in 1~30 MPa without adjusting the controller parameters; the influences of machining errors on the valve were also simulated, the results showed that under-lap of pilot spool should be avoided to reduce gas consuming and 10 μm is a suitable choice for the height of annular clearance.

Abstract:As a result of the blockage problem of proportional relief valve, speed fluctuation problem occurred when the hydro-viscous clutch (HVD) with a proportional relief valve was being applied to the Guihuadu waterworks in Hunan province. A variable speed control system of HVD is proposed to overcome the blockage problem of proportional relief valve and reduce the speed fluctuation of HVD. The results show that: By improving the control system of HVD, the speed fluctuation is greatly reduced from ±30r/min to ±5r/min and the pressure fluctuation of pipe network is reduced from ±0.1MPa to ±0.004MPa.

Abstract:A new type pneumatic proportional extra-high pressure valve was developed. In this valve, pilot air is led out from the main valve's inlet, passes through pressure regulating chamber, then drains into the main valve's exhaust chamber. A proportional electro-magnet was used as pilot control component, and the control strategy used electric closed-loop feedback. The useful output pressure range is 8—25 MPa. A nonlinear mathematical model of the valve was established for analyzing the effects of the structural parameters and controller parameters on the valve's dynamic characteristics. The valve worked well under the designed pressure. Fixed parameters of the PI controller cannot meet the needs of control for both high output pressure and low output pressure. The regulating chamber volume has the most important influence on the valve's dynamic characteristics, and increasing the regulating chamber volume is the most effective solution to reduce the vibration amplitude of output pressure and improve the output pressure accuracy.

Abstract:Traditional high-pressure pressure reducing valves are mostly linear, occupying a lot of space and costing a lot. In this study, a L-shaped multi-stage high pressure reducing valve (L-HPRV) is newly designed, it can be widely used in space constrained pipelines, reducing floor space and thus lower costs. Then, the steam flow in L-HPRV is investigated with an experimental validated numerical method. Next, a parametric sensitivity study is conducted to investigate the effects of typical throttling components on fluid dynamics of the newly designed L-HPRV. Finally, based on the parametric sensitivity study, the optimized throttling design of L-HPRV is achieved. The results show that the rhombus-shaped perforated plates is considered to be the first choice for better fluid dynamics. Larger perforated plate diameter (D1/D0) and perforated sleeve diameter (D2/D0) relates to better aerodynamic performance. Chamfer radius has limited effects on fluid dynamics. N-stage adjustable perforated plate effectively disperses the pressure drop and velocity rising gradient in the throttling components at all levels. The preferred level ranking with better fluid dynamics for L-HPRV is obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, a new pressure reducing valve (PRV) with an orifice plate is proposed. The main objective is to explain the mechanisms of pressure reduction and energy conversion in the new PRV. A numerical simulation method was used to investigate the PRV internal flow field and to analyze the throttling effects of the orifice plate and the transform of thermal parameters as outlet pressure, outlet temperature, velocity, and superheat. A structure improvement method for the valve body and orifice plate is put forward to reduce energy loss. The governing equations for internal flow numerical simulation are composed of the continuity, momentum, energy and k-ε transport equations, based on isotropic eddy viscosity theory. Different valve plug displacement models were built to describe the double throttling process. Our analysis shows that the steam pressure drops twice and the degree of superheat increases. There are also lots of eddies which clog the flow channel and disturb the steam flow in the valve cavity after the valve plug and the outlet cavity. After modifying the structure, the numerical results show a better performance of steam flow.

Abstract:The bottom shaft driving flap gate is a new type of sluice gate, which is suitable for urban sewage water treatment. Although the bottom shaft driving flap gate has many advantages such as cheap investment and simple maintenance, it develops slowly because of the constraints of related tech-nologies. As such, the flow pattern analysis and flow rate analysis on this hydraulic structure have important engineering significance. In this paper, a three-dimensional numerical simulation was used to analyze flow conditions of a new bottom shaft driving flap gate in the actual water control project. The CFX turbulence default model and non-slip grid technology were used to simulate the project under the same conditions of the test, and this research obtained the flow line, the flow rate of cloud images, and the velocity vectors of the model. Then this paper explained the reason for the flood conditions (once in 20 y, once in 50 y, once in 100 y) by analyzing the results. The research in this paper verifies the rationality of the model test and the effectiveness of the numerical simulation. The findings and conclusions of this paper provide the basis for the project implementation in a sediment-laden river and provide a reference for other similar projects.

Abstract:The optimization of the valve plate transition region is an important way of reducing the noise emission for an axial piston pump. However, the optimized methods through simulation or experiment are actually trial and error, and they cannot indicate the precise structural parameters of the valve plate transition region. In this study, a new design method for the transition region of valve plate based on the matching of flow area and reduction of transient reverse flow was proposed, and with which a valve plate was designed. Then, the impact of the flow ripple in the discharge line of an axial piston pump and the pressure overshoot and undershoot in the piston chamber on hydraulic and structural noise for axial piston pump is discussed. The noise reduction effect of the axial piston pump with this valve plate was analyzed by adopting a flow characteristic simulation model. Finally, the results showed that the application of this design method could contribute much to the reduction of the flow ripple and elimination of the pressure overshoot and undershoot. As a consequence, the method can be used in the design of a low-noise open circuit axial piston pump.
