Abstract:In this paper we study the flag curvature of a new class of Finsler metrics called general (alpha, beta)-metrics, which are defined by a Riemannian metric a and a 1-form beta. The classification of such metrics with constant flag curvature are completely determined under some suitable conditions, which make them locally projectively flat. As a result, we construct many new projectively flat Finsler metrics with flag curvature 1, 0 and -1 in Section 9, all of which are of singularity at some directions. (C) 2015 Elsevier Inc. Abstract:The S-curvature is one of most important non-Riemannian quantities in Finsler geometry. It delicately related to Riemannian quantities. This note gives an explicit construction of 3-parameter family of non-locally projectively flat Finsler metrics of non-constant isotropic S-curvature. Abstract:The flag curvature of a Finsler metric is called a Riemannian quantity because it is an extension of sectional curvature in Riemannian geometry. In Finsler geometry, there are several non-Riemannian quantities such as the (mean) Cartan torsion, the (mean) Landsberg curvature and the S-curvature, which all vanish for Riemannian metrics. It is important to understand the geometric meanings of these quantities. In this paper, we study Finsler metrics of scalar curvature (i.e., the flag curvature is a scalar function on the slit tangent bundle) and partially determine the flag curvature when certain non-Riemannian quantities are isotropic. Using the obtained formula for the flag curvature, we classify locally projectively flat Randers metrics with isotropic S-curvature.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove a structure theorem for projectively flat Finsler metrics of negative constant flag curvature. We show that for such a Finsler metric if the orthogonal group acts as isometries, then the Finsler metric is a slight generalization of Chern–Shen's construction Riemann–Finsler geometry, Nankai Tracts in Mathematics, Vol. 6 (World Scientific Publishing, Hackensack, NJ, 2005), x+192 pp.

Abstract:(α, β)-norms on \({\mathbb{R}^N}\) induce Minkowski metrics, and the construction of related homothetic vector fields gives a family of new Finsler metrics of non-positive constant flag curvature for each non-trivial (α, β)-norm. The dimension of this family is at least \({\tfrac{1}{2}(N^2 - N + 4)}\) . In particular, we generalize the Funk metric on the unit ball via navigation representation of the standard Euclidean norm and the radial vector field. Finally, we describe the geodesics of these new Finsler metrics with constant flag curvature.

Abstract:The conformai properties of complex Finsler metrics are studied. We first give a characterization of a compact complex Finsler manifold to be globally conformai Kahler. By considering the total holomorphic curvature and total Ricci curvature in the volume preserved conformal classes, we then study the variational properties of Kahler Finsler metrics. By studying the spectral properties of two average metrics, the stabilities of critical Kähler Finsler metrics are verified. Finally, a Yamabe type problem for mean holomorphic Ricci curvature is considered, and a partial existence result is obtained.

Abstract:In this article, we characterize two particular closed Finsler spaces in terms of the flag curvature tensor. That is, with respect to the L_2 inner product of the space of all symmetric 2-tensor on the projective sphere bundle, a Finsler structure has Landsberg (Berwald resp.) type if and only if its flag curvature tensor is orthogonal to some given line (plane resp.). Using a result of Akbar-Zadeh we give a unifying description for three special closed Finsler manifolds.

Abstract:In this paper, we study Finsler metrics of constant S-curvature. First we produce infinitely many Randers metrics with non-zero (constant) S-curvature which have vanishing H-curvature. They are counterexamples to Theorem 1.2 in [20]. Then we show that the existence of (alpha, beta)-metrics with arbitrary constant S-curvature in each dimension which is not Randers type by extending Li-Shen' construction.

Abstract:We give an explicit construction of an (n+1)-parameter family of pro-jectively Ricci-flat Finsler metrics on an n-dimensional double hemisphere by using the spherical harmonics of degree 1. We also show that all locally projectively flat Ran-ders metrics with isotropic S-curvature on the standard unit sphere are projectively Ricci-flat.

Abstract:Projectively flat Finlser metrics on a convex domain U in ℝ^n are regular solutions to Hilbert’s Fourth Problem. In this paper, we study projectively flat Finlser metrics on U. We find equations that characterize these metrics with weakly orthogonal invariance, refining a theorem due to Sol ó rzano-Le ó n. As its application, we obtain infinitely many new projectively flat Finlser metrics on 𝕊^n+1 and determine their scalar flag curvature. These metrics contain Bryant’s projective spherically symmetric Finsler metric of constant flag curvature 1.

Abstract:In this paper, we study locally projectively flat Finsler metrics of constant flag curvature. We find equations that characterize these metrics by warped product. Using the obtained equations, we manufacture new locally projectively flat Finsler warped product metrics of vanishing flag curvature. These metrics contain the metric introduced by Berwald and the spherically symmetric metric given by Mo-Zhu.

Abstract:The authors completely classify projectively flat(α,β)-metrics F=(α+β)~((λ+1))/α~λ with constant flag curvature,where λ are the real numbers.They also prove that,when λ≠0,±1,F=(α+β)~((λ+1))/α~λ is projectively flat if and only if α is projectively flat and β is parallel with respect to α.F=(α+β)~((λ+1))/α~λ is projectively flat with constant flag curvature if and only if F is locally Minkowskian.
