Abstract:Karl Marx's emphasis on historical study makes a solid foundation for his innovative theoretical contributions in the fields of philosophy,political economy and scientific socialism,etc. His Notes on Historiography greatly enriches his previous"historical outline of the origin of WestEuropean capitalism"through organizing the process of historical events in European countries between 1st century BC and 17th century A.D.At the same time,it is the preparation for his further studies on the ownership of land,the division and unification of nations and the changing of the forms of countries,as well as the formation and changing of international relations and world market.It is vital to understand the precious theoretical thinking and his contribution in his last years through this work and his Notes on Anthropology written in 1878—1882.
