Analysis on Color in Cervical,middle and Incisal Position Between Natural Teeth and Vita Classical Shade Guides

Abstract:Objective To investigate whether the chroma of natural teeth in cervical,middle and incisal position are consistent with Vita Classical shade guides in the same position.Methods The chroma of natural teeth and Vita Classical shade guides of A2、B2、C2、D2 color series in cervical,middle and incisal was tested respectively using MINOLTA CR-321 contacted colorimeter(D65),and color was measured by CIE-1976-L*a*b*.The color differences between two groups was contrasted and analyzed.Results The mean color differences between cervical and incisal position in 48 natural teeth and 48 shade guides of the same color grade are comparatively large(ΔE:4.48～5.19);The mean color differences between middle and incisal position in two groups are smaller(ΔE:3.48～2.13).The color differences in the same positions between two groups are from 1.08 to 2.80;the color differences in the different positions between two groups are from 2.00 to 6.24.Conclusion The chroma of the same positions(in cervical,middle and incisal) between the natural teeth and shade guides are obviously different.In the process of color matching,the color in cervical,middle and incisal positions of natural teeth should be contrast with the color of shade guides in different 3 positions to increase variety and accuracy.
