Abstract:The site of Xiling Seal Engraver's Society is a typical upland garden in the West Lake Scenic Area. It was praised as "the crown garden on the West Lake" by Mr. Chen Congzhou for its unique surroundings, appropriate layout, wonderful spatial organization and deep artistic conception. This paper attempts to conduct a systematic study on the spatial organization of the site of Xiling Seal Engraver's Society, by combing its spatial composition relationship, analyzing its spatial layout, exploring its spatial sequence, and explaining the spatial structure for landscape spots as well. The analysis showed the marvellous skills for spatial organization of classical upland gardens, which provides a reference for space design of modern upland or mountain gardens.

Abstract:The quintessence of the art of Suzhou landscape gardening lay in a perpetual pursuit after a high degree of harmony between man and nature.The builders placed grotesque rocks on artificial hillocks and planted trees,shrubbery and flowers to simulate wildness in the heart of a crowded city by a method characteristic of traditional Chinese freehand paintings.The Suzhou gardens,where every corner is permeated with a poetic charm,has been acclaimed,Though they are the results of human endeavors,they seem to have descend from heaven.The true nature——planting trees,shrubbery and flowers have important effect in artistic surrounding of landscape architecture.

Abstract:Abstract In order to create a good cultural atmosphere and environmental characteristics, improve the overall quality, promote the integration of public life into the modern city, and enhance the local artistic charm and taste of life, the creators integrated the regional culture and the unique environment of the place in the sculpture design concept scheme of yuanbaozi wetland park with the sense of modernity, interactivity and regionality. Abstract:Abstract Urban parks, as one of the starting points of urban green development, are a composite product of the interaction between people and nature. They play an important role in displaying and continuing the city’s culture. Therefore, it is critical to attach importance to the design and renewal of urban parks. This article takes Wuhan City Park as the specific research object, and extracts the “water”, “fish” and “bubble” in the “river culture” as landscape design elements. To show, let people feel the baptism of urban culture while visiting the park, and re-entrust the park with the mission of inheriting cultural heritage.

Abstract:Wang Lu claims that Hua Li's design for the Gaoligong Handcraft Paper Museum,Yunan exemplifies a particular architectural ethos – architecture isn't the invention of something that doesn't exist, but rather a response to what is already here in the present moment. Located at the foot of Gaoligong Mountain, the eponymous Handcraft Paper Museum effortlessly integrates social, structural, and aesthetic presences that give the area and its Muslim villages a unique spatial identity. The museum provides exhibition space for ancient paper craft and artifacts produced locally, while its interior design alternates between windows that frame vistas of the local landscape. Local timber, bamboo, handcrafted paper, low energy and decomposable natural materials were used to construct the museum. In addition to the museum proper, exhibition space extends to include paper-craft display in the neighboring village. Indeed, traces of the architect's presence are felt in the integration of these diverse elements, even as the building itself seems to have been made of folded paper, an aesthetic choice that seems so "natural" in this context as to almost vanish.

Abstract:Abstract From June to August 2008, a joint archaeological team excavated a mural tomb at Shuiquanliang Village in Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province. The tomb is situated about 1.5km west of the village. In the tomb, grave goods such as pottery figurines, pottery models and glazed ceramic vessels as well as many well-preserved murals were found. The tomb structure, murals, and tomb furnishings suggest that the tomb was built in the late Northern Qi Dynasty; the occupant of the tomb may have been the military commander of Shuozhou City. This excavation is very important for the study of the history and culture of Shuozhou area in the Northern Qi Dynasty.

Abstract:A building represents human being's occupation of the landscape,an interpretation and visualization of the genius loci.Huanglong Cave Concert Hall is designed in such a way as to strategically take a pose in the landscape so that the mountain,water,forest,fields,wind,sun and human desires are gathered;the concepts of environmental protection,functionality,green building and contemporary aesthetics are integrated,therefore,the form is evolved in its own way and reflects the building's functions,in a stack of tilted layers of alternating limestone slates and glass.The building's green roof will not only minimize its visual impact on the natural landscape,but also reduce the heat radiation entering the building.The interaction between the reclaimed pastoral setting,the natural mountain and water,and the contemporary design,altogether compose a contemporary version of the symphony of the Land of Peach Blossoms.

Abstract:The site of Xieqiu Xuan in Summer Palace is unfavorable for gardening, but our predecessors created a poetic dweling here. It was praised as a model by Mr. Meng Zhaozhen. This paper conducted a series of systematic studies on Xieqiu Xuan, based on historical literature review, site survey and mapping. It analyzed various factors such as the internal and external space of the garden, being and borrowing scenery and so on. It summarized the connotation of the garden behind the landscape, the design process of the rockery and the causes of its success. It is expected to provide a profound interpretation of the traditional landscaping skils for upland gardens, which wil be used as a valuable reference for the design and construction of modern upland gardens.
