Abstract:In this short note, we prove that a complex Finsler vector bundle with positive Kobayashi curvature must be ample, which partially solves a problem of S. Kobayashi posed in 1975. As applications, a strongly pseudoconvex complex Finsler manifold with positive Kobayashi curvature must be biholomorphic to the complex projective space; we also show that all Schur polynomials are numerically positive for complex Finsler vector bundles with positive Kobayashi curvature.

Abstract:By simplifying the first and the second variation formulas of the energy functional and generalizing the Weitzenbock formula, we study the stability and the rigidity of harmonic maps between Finsler manifolds. It is proved that any nondegenerate harmonic map from a compact Einstein Riemannian manifold with nonnegative scalar curvature to a Berwald manifold with nonpositive flag curvature is totally geodesic and there is no nondegenerate stable harmonic map from a Riemannian unit sphere S-n (n > 2) to any Finsler manifold.

Abstract:The authors consider ±(Φ, J)-holomorphic maps from Sasakian manifolds into Kähler manifolds, which can be seen as counterparts of holomorphic maps in Kähler geometry. It is proved that those maps must be harmonic and basic. Then a Schwarz lemma for those maps is obtained. On the other hand, an invariant in its basic homotopic class is obtained. Moreover, the invariant is just held in the class of basic maps.

Abstract:The conformai properties of complex Finsler metrics are studied. We first give a characterization of a compact complex Finsler manifold to be globally conformai Kahler. By considering the total holomorphic curvature and total Ricci curvature in the volume preserved conformal classes, we then study the variational properties of Kahler Finsler metrics. By studying the spectral properties of two average metrics, the stabilities of critical Kähler Finsler metrics are verified. Finally, a Yamabe type problem for mean holomorphic Ricci curvature is considered, and a partial existence result is obtained.
Characterization of invariant complex Finsler metrics and Schwarz lemma on the classical domains

Abstract:Our goal of this paper is to give a complete characterization of all holomorphic invariant strongly pseudoconvex complex Finsler metrics on the classical domains and establish a corresponding Schwarz lemma for holomorphic maps with respect to these invariant metrics. We prove that every $\mbox{Aut}(\mathfrak{D})$-invariant strongly pseudoconvex complex Finsler metric $F$ on a classical domain $\mathfrak{D}$ of rank $\geq 2$ is a Kähler-Berwald metric which is not necessary Hermitian quadratic, but it enjoys very similar curvature property as that of the Bergman metric on $\mathfrak{D}$. In particular, if $F$ is Hermitian quadratic, then $F$ is must be a constant multiple of the Bergman metric on $\mathfrak{D}$. This actually answers the $4$-th open problem posed by Bland and Kalka in [7]. We also obtain a general Schwarz lemma for holomorphic maps from a classical domain $\mathfrak{D}_1$ into another classical domain $\mathfrak{D}_2$ whenever $\mathfrak{D}_1$ and $\mathfrak{D}_2$ are endowed with arbitrary holomorphic invariant Kähler-Berwald metrics $F_1$ and $F_2$, respectively. The method used to prove the Schwarz lemma is purely geometric. Our results show that the Lu constant of $(\mathfrak{D},F)$ is both an analytic invariant and a geometric invariant which can only be more clearly seen in the complex Finsler setting. This also gives a nontrivial generalization of the classical Schwarz lemma on the classical domains previously established case-by-case by Look [31] with respect to the Bergman metric.

Abstract:We derive the variation formula of the partial derivative-energy and of the partial derivative-energy for a smooth map from a complex Finsler manifold to an Hermitian manifold. Applying the result on a nonlinear elliptic system due to J. Jost and S. T. Yau, we obtain some existence theorems of harmonic maps from strongly Kahler Finsler manifolds to Kahler manifolds. Also, for such maps, we show that the difference between partial derivative-energy and partial derivative-energy is a homotopy invariant.

Abstract:This paper is to study further some properties of harmonic maps between Finsler manifolds. Some rigidity theorems for harmonic maps between Finsler manifolds are given. By introducing the stress-energy tensor of maps between Finsler manifolds, some integral formulas are obtained. Moreover, it is proved that any conformal strongly harmonic map from an n(>2)-dimensional Finsler manifold to a Finsler manifold must be homothetic.

Faran ([10]) to some extent. As some applications, we show that the signed Segre forms (−1)sk(E,G) are positive (k, k)forms on M when G is of positive Kobayashi curvature; we prove, under an extra assumption, that a Finsler-Einstein vector bundle in the sense of Kobayashi is semi-stable; we introduce a new definition of a flat Finsler metric, which is weaker than Aikou’s one ([3]) and prove that a holomorphic vector bundle is Finsler flat in our sense if and only if it is Hermitian flat.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the sharp constants of quantitative Hardy and Rellich inequalities on nonreversible Finsler manifolds equipped with arbitrary measures. In particular, these inequalities can be globally refined by adding remainder terms like the Brezis–Vázquez improvement, if Finsler manifolds are of strictly negative flag curvature, vanishing S-curvature and finite uniformity constant. Furthermore, these results remain valid when Finsler metrics are reversible.

Abstract:AbstractIn this paper, we establish a universal volume comparison theorem for Finsler manifolds and give the Berger–Kazdan inequality and Santalá's formula in Finsler geometry. Based on these, we derive a Berger–Kazdan type comparison theorem and a Croke type isoperimetric inequality for Finsler manifolds.

Abstract:Lagrange introduced the notion of Schwarzian derivative and Thurston discovered its mysterious properties playing a role similar to that of curvature on Riemannian manifolds. Here we continue our studies on the development of the Schwarzian derivative on Finsler manifolds. First, we obtain an integrability condition for the Möbius equations. Then we obtain a rigidity result as follows; Let $(M, F)$ be a connected complete Finsler manifold of positive constant Ricci curvature. If it admits non-trivial Möbius mapping, then $M$ is homeomorphic to the $n$-sphere. Finally, we reconfirm Thurston's hypothesis for complete Finsler manifolds and show that the Schwarzian derivative of a projective parameter plays the same role as the Ricci curvature on theses manifolds and could characterize a Bonnet-Mayer-type theorem.

A general Schwarz lemma for Hermitian manifolds

Abstract:The Schwarz lemma for holomorphic maps between Hermitian manifolds is improved. New curvature constraints on the source and target manifolds are introduced and shown to be weaker than the Ricci and real bisectional curvature, respectively. The novel target curvature condition is intrinsic to the Hermitian structure and is controlled by the holomorphic sectional curvature if the metric is pluriclosed. This leads to significant improvements on the Wu--Yau theorem. Further, it is shown that the Schwarz lemma is largely invariant under a change of Hermitian connection, and the precise geometric quantity that varies with the connection is determined. This enables us to establish the Schwarz lemma for the Gauduchon connections.

Abstract:A domain is called a polyball if it is given as a direct product of open unit balls. We prove that every holomorphic invariant strongly pseudoconvex complex Finsler metric on a polyball is necessary a Kähler-Berwald metric with the holomorphic sectional curvature bounded between two negative constants, and its holomorphic bisectional curvature is nonpositive and bounded from below by a negative constant. These important curvature properties make it possible for us to establish a Schwarz lemma for holomorphic mappings f from a polyball into another polyball whenever they are endowed with arbitrary holomorphic invariant Kähler-Berwald metrics which are not necessary Hermitian quadratic.
