Abstract:This paper proposes a new current-limited comparator including current detect and current comparison circuits. The current detect circuit has good accuracy and doesn’t need resistor network and edge blanking circuit. The current comparison circuit use current mirror network and current comparator to produce different duty cycles. The whole circuit has lots of advantages in the espects of area, cost and power consumption compared with traditional structures. The simulation results and error analyses of the whole circuits show that it’s very useful for engineering applications.

Abstract:Area and power efficiency of ADC can benefit from the threshold configurable comparator based SAR ADC architecture. This work proposes a threshold control technique for CMOS comparator design with high linearity. One pair of binary weighted pMOS capacitor arrays is used to generate the built-in threshold levels; another pair of digitally switched pMOS capacitor arrays is implemented to compensate the nonlinearity for the generated threshold levels. The simulation results show the range of the controlled threshold is 260mV. 6-bit resolution with 0.6 LSB INL and 0.25 LSB DNL are achieved. The comparator consumes 5.0μW with 30MHz clock frequency from 1.8V power supply.
Novel CMOS Current Reference with High Power-Supply Rejection Ratio

Abstract:A simple triple-branch current reference with high power-supply rejection ratio(PSRR) was proposed to enhance the accuracy and stability of current reference of CMOS integrated circuits. Using Kirchhoff's current and voltage law(Kvl,Kcl) and partial differential equations,the small-signal models of conventional and cascade current references were compared with that of the triple-branch current reference,and the PSRRS of these three circuits are solved.The results showed that the PSRR performances of conventional and cascade current references were confined due to the positive feedback loop of node voltage in them,while the triple-branch current reference has a much higher PSRR due to the strong negative feedback loop of node voltage.First order temperature compensation is also adopted in the triple-branch current reference to provide temperature stability.Using CSMC 0.5 μm process,simulation showed that when the input voltage was 1.5~5.0 V,the triple-branch current reference's PSRR reached -77.9 dB,apparently better than those of conventional and cascade current references;and temperature drift within range of-20~120 ℃ was below 255×10-6/℃,which is adequate for most applications.

Abstract:A low drift current reference based on PMOS temperature correction technology is proposed. To achieve the minimum temperature coefficient (TC), the PMOS cascode current mirror is designed as a cross structure. By exchanging the bias for two layers of the self-biased PMOS cascode structure, the upper PMOS, which is used to adjust the TC together with the resistor of the self-biased PMOS cascode structure, is forced to work in the linear region. As the proposed current reference is the on-chip current reference of a high voltage LED driver with high accuracy, it was designed using a CSMC 1 μm 40 V BCD process. Simulation shows that the TC of the reference current was only 23.8×10 −6 /°C over the temperature range of −40–120 °C under the typical condition.

Abstract:This paper introduces a new modified current comparator based on Extremely Low Voltage High Compliance current mirror (ELVHC CM) which can be employed in low voltage, low power application in modern current mode analog integrated circuits. Proposed comparator consists of cooperative positive–negative feedback in the current differencing stage as above mentioned current mirror and also nonlinear feedback in the gain stage. The complete comparator structure produces high resolution, low propagation delay, and low power dissipation. The functionality of the proposed circuit has been validated by Cadence Virtuoso simulator in 0.18 μm gpdk CMOS technology. The simulation results of the proposed comparator show superior performance in comparison with Bulk Driven Quasi Floating Gate FVF current mirror (BDQFG FVF CM) based comparator. As the proposed comparator shows the resolution of 5 nA and 0.043 μs delay at 1.8 μA current difference. Whereas 29.82% difference from comparator based on BDQFG FVF CM has been seen in proposed comparator in power dissipation and 83.92% decrement in power delay product is observed in the proposed comparator.

Abstract:The advantages and disadvantages of existing high-performance continuous-time CMOS current comparators are analyzed,and a novel CMOS current comparator is proposed.It comprises one CMOS complementary amplifier with negative resistance feedback,two resistive-load amplifiers and two CMOS inverters.Because the input and output resistance of the CMOS complementary amplifier decreases owing to the negative feedback resistor,the voltage swings are reduced,and the response time of the current comparator is short and the speed is fast.The power consumption of the current comparator has decreased by using the resistive-load amplifiers.Simulation results based on 1.2μm CMOS technology HSPICE model show the response time of the novel current comparator is comparable with those of the existing fastest CMOS current comparators,while its power consumption is the lowest,so its speed/power ratio is the best.Furthermore,due to the simple circuit structure of the novel current comparator and its perfect,performance of deviations,it is very suitable for the high-speed/low-power current-mode integrated circuits.

Abstract:This paper proposes a low-power continuous time comparator with hysteresis for low speed and low power applications, such as duty cycle temperature sensors. A minimum current selector with hysteresis is proposed to reduce the bias current of the comparator when the differential input is large, and increase the bias current when the differential input is small, thereby converting the static bias current of the comparator into dynamic bias current to reduce power consumption. In addition, the increased hysteresis path makes the output of the comparator highly immune to disturbances. Furthermore, chopper is typically added to suppress 1/f noise and DC offset, and the comparator designed in this article combines chopper with hysteresis. The comparator is fabricated in 110nm CMOS technology, works under a 1.5V supply voltage, and has a average current of 530nA.

Abstract:As an important component of current-mode signal processing circuit, a new continuous-time CMOS current comparator with high speed and low power is proposed. It comprises one CMOS complementary amplifier with a feedback MOS resistor. two resistive-load amplifiers and two CMOS inverters. Its features include short response delay, low power consumption and small area. Because of the absence of bias currents and voltages, this circuit is also robust to process deviations. Abstract:Comparator is one of the most important fundamental cells for many mixed-signal circuits. The novel low-power CMOS voltage comparator proposed in this paper is composed of a conventional comparator and an auxiliary branch. The conventional comparator needs large tail current to get small propagation. In fact, the tail current at the flip point determines the comparator propagation. In this proposed comparator, the auxiliary branch can detect the flip point and compensate the tail current at this point. Therefore, the tail current can be biased at a much smaller value to decrease the power consumption with the same propagation as the conventional comparator. Based on a 0.5 mu m standard CMOS technology, the proposed comparator has been designed and verified adequately. Compared with the conventional comparator, more than 60% power reduction is achieved with same propagation delay.

Abstract:In this article, a novel active-input cascode current mirror (CM) with high precision and low power consumption is proposed. First, the cascode input structure is employed upon the active-input CM to reduce the requirement of high-gain op-amp. In addition, the extra branch to the ground is designed. Subsequently, the resistance adaptive loop is separated from the current replication loop to eliminate the matching obstacle between two op-amps. The proposed CM fulfilled in 0.18 μm CMOS technology, is able to operate with a supply voltage of 1.0 V, wide input range of 100 nA–1 mA, low power dissipation of 40 μW, and lower replication error (below 1.4%) than the same configuration using the conventional active-input mechanism.

Abstract:Analog and digital integrated circuit performance has greatly benefited by the shrinking of semiconductor fabrication technology components. In order to reduce the size of the transistors, it is obvious that the speed of the circuits must increase and the supply voltage must decrease. Although this decreases the power consumption of the circuits, it typically reduces the characteristics of analog circuits, such as dynamic range and output resistance. The gift In this study, a novel wide bandwidth current mirror with low power consumption, low voltage, and super high voltage swing are given. The proposed design calls for a current mirror bandwidth of 168 MHz. Additionally, the output impedance for the proposed circuit, which is exceptionally high and is close to 175 MΩ according to the simulation results, guarantees the high accuracy of the suggested current mirror current. The suggested circuit design's low power consumption of 42.4 μW, lowest output voltage of 100 mV, and maximum swing limit of 850 mV all demonstrate that they are ideally suited for low power/operational voltage applications and ultra-low voltage circuit design. And resists less-than-ideal PVT circumstances. The capability of this technique to achieve high-speed current mirror and high-current driving capabilities with few accuracy or power performance restrictions is demonstrated in this work. It is implemented in 0.18 m AMS CMOS technology with a 1 V supply voltage and offers a high output current with a relative current copy error of 2% and a maximum settling time of 2–4 ns, making it well suited for the implementation of quick and balanced multipole current sources.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel high-accuracy and high-speed current comparator using gain boosting structures in parallel is proposed based on CSMC 0.5μm standard CMOS process. Two amplifiers are employed in the circuit whose open-loop gain has been fully used to improve the comparing accuracy. Simulation results reveal that a high resolution better than 0.01μA can be easily obtained by this approach. Some comparisons were made when amplifier open -loop gain retrogressed, power supply voltage scaled down or reference current varied. Detailed discussions about its average power dissipation and propagation delay are presented. The response delay is less than 16ns for ±0.1μA current difference at the supply voltage of 2V, which is expected to be further improved with 0.18μm standard CMOS process.

Abstract:A novel current-limit strategy suitable for high power step-down converter is presented in this paper to ensure the converter far away damage under over-current or short-circuit conditions. The proposed circuit consists of two sections: error amplifier clamping (EAC) and linear frequency fold-back (LFFB). The EAC circuit works properly when the output is in minor overload. If the current increases continuously to some amount in major overload or short-circuit, the frequency of the converter is linearly decreased by the LFFB circuit. In this way, the propagation delay effects can be weakened by equivalently decreasing duty cycle. The proposed circuit has been validated in 0.6-μm CD process based on a monolithic current-mode step-down converter capable of driving up to 3A loads with supply voltage from 4.5 to 23V. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed current-limit technique can guarantee the converter operating properly under any load condition without damage.

Abstract:An overcurrent detection method based on current mirror sensing was presented in this paper. Compared with the conventional overcurrent detection scheme, the sampling branch structure was optimized, which eliminated the negative effect of high peak voltage caused by capacitive coupling. And there is no extra branch introduced, so the circuit could still maintain low power consumption. The proposed method was realized in a 5MHz buck converter using 0.18 m CMOS process. As the simulation result shows, the presented overcurrent detection method has no peak voltage and works at low power consumption without tricky circuits.

Abstract:This brief presents a continuously regulated current mirror topology capable of providing a wide range of currents with high-precision and speed control features. The circuit combines a non-linear current-mode feedback solution for fast and energy-efficient operation with an input-referred regulated-cascode configuration for precise current mirroring. The proposed implementation has an output current ranging from 100 μA to 2 mA, exhibits a fast response time of ≈100 ns for the full range steps, while ensuring a high power efficiency (>90%) and low current copy errors (<0.5%).

Abstract:A novel current-sensing structure for current-mode DC-DC converter is presented in this paper. It has significant improvements on current-sensing speed and reducing the sensitivity to the variations of the process, voltage, temperature and loading (PVTL), which is derived in detail. It has been used in a current-mode DC-DC converter fabricated by CSMC 0.5μm CMOS process with a die size of 2.25 mm2. Experimental results show that with the current-sensing circuit the converter can operate at the supply voltage range of 2.7 to 5.5V with loading 0-600mA and has the ability to convert from 5.5V down to 0.6V at 4MHz. The measured transient response time is 7μs as the load current changes between 0 and 600mA rapidly. Moreover, the current-sensing structure can be also used in other integrated circuits for loop control and over-current protection.

Abstract:A three-stage comparator with two dynamic pre-amplifiers and a regenerative latch is proposed. The highlight of the proposed comparator is that a positive feedback pre-amplifier is added to the conventional two-stage comparator for higher gain and faster regenerative speed, which greatly suppresses the input-referred noise. In addition, the proposed comparator has almost no current flowing from the power supply to the ground, so it has extraordinary energy efficiency. Implemented in the 28-nm CMOS technology, the proposed comparator achieves a delay of 35.48 ps against 43.3 ps for the traditional comparator with a 25% reduction in power consumption. The resolution of the proposed comparator can be increased to 1 μV and the input-referred noise is reduced by 34% at a clock frequency of 10 GHz.

Abstract:A novel current-mode CMOS parallel structure is proposed. This parallel switch structure allows current-mode CMOS circuits to perform under lower source voltage which makes low power consuming possible. Beside, the current-mode circuits based on the proposed parallel structure have smaller propagation delay time than its counterpart which use cascade switches under the same source voltage. PSPICE simulation proves that circuits designed with the proposed structure can perform under low source voltage while holding short propagation delay time.
