Abstract:Foam fractionation is a kind of technology using bubble as medium to concentrate surface active substances.Foam fractionation has the characteristics such as simple equipment,low investment,low energy consumption and environmental compatibility,and plays an important role in application of separating food components and industrialization production. Therefore,it attracts more and more attentions. This paper reviewed the principle,classification of foam fractionation; introduces its application progress in the separation of the cell, protein,enzyme,the extraction of herbal saponin,including the treatment of Aqueous Solution. Therefore,some crucial issues about the current problem and development tendency of foam fractionation were suggested.

Abstract:With the advancement of technology, wastewater treatment has become a significant challenge limiting the clean and sustainable development of chemical and metallurgical industries. Foam extraction, based on interfacial separation and mineral flotation, has garnered considerable attention as a wastewater treatment technology due to its unique physicochemical properties. Although considerable excellent accomplishments were reported, there still lacks a comprehensive summary of process features and contaminant removal mechanisms via foam extraction. According to the latest research progresses, the principles and characteristics of foam extraction technology, the classification and application of flotation reagents are systematically summarized in this work. Then comprehensively commented on the application fields and prospects of iterative flotation technology such as ion flotation, adsorption flotation and floating-extraction. The shortcomings and limitations of the current foam extraction technologies were discussed, and the feasible process intensification techniques were highlighted. This review aims to enchance the understanding of the foam extraction mechanism, and provides guidance for the selection appropriate reagents and foam extraction technologies in wastewater treatment.

Abstract:In this paper, a purity of 52.58% crude tea saponin as the research object, through the foam separation technology, tea saponin extraction process was researched. The feed concentration, gas flow rate, liquid volume and pH value were studied through single factor experiment, the rate of recovery and enrichment ratio as evaluation indexes, the single factor experiment results are analyzed, The design of L9 (34) orthogonal test was applied to confirm the optimum condition: the initial feed solution concentration 0.3mg/ml, air velocity 100ml/min, pH value of 6.5, liquid volume 35ml, enrichment ratio of 3.7896, the recovery rate 82.06%. The purity of the product reached 89.48% under the optimal operation conditions. The results showed that the foam separation techniques is applicable to tea saponin extraction.

Abstract:The research focus of the foams has recently been shifting from using inorganic materials to biological origin materials (especially edible materials) for stabilization. The motivation for this shift is regarding the incompatibility of some inorganic materials for food and biomedical utilization, along with their poor sustainability. The research progress of the foam stabilized by the food-grade materials in recent years was summarized. Recent literature reports have proved the ability of protein, polysaccharide, polyphenol, as well as their binary or ternary composition to stabilize liquid foam. We review the mechanism of foam instability and the factors affecting stability and recent progress in characterization methods. The encouraging research trends in basic research and fields of applications were also underlined, which often give rise to exciting food industry opportunities.

Abstract:A novel technology of foam separation to purify acidic fraction gum (AFG) has been established in this research. The effects of the operational factors, that is, initial feed concentration, pH of raw solution and the volume of liquid and the temperature of foam separation have been investigated. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to optimize conditions of foam separation for AFG, the optimum conditions were as follows, initial feed concentration 112.86 μg/mL, the pH 3, volume of liquid 202.37 mL, and temperature 20.77°C. Under this condition, enrichment ratio and recovery reached the highest of 14.8 and 79.1%, respectively. It has been found that purification of AFG by foam separation is an effective, simple equipped, low energy consuming, and potential industrial technology.
