Abstract:From the start of reforming and opening to the outside world,China's education reform has been gradually enlarged and deepened,like reforms in other social fields.Education reform has greatly promoted the development of all kinds of public education and made important historical achievement.This paper divides the history of China's education reform into four stages,that is,(i) the preparation of education reform and restoration of education system(1978-1984);(ii) the inauguration and steady advancement(1985-1992);(iii) the all-round execution and rapid development of education(1993-1998);(iv) the continuous deepening and complete promotion of education quality(1999-2008).Based upon such retrospect,this paper analyses the characteristics of China's education reform in the past 30 years,including its nature,background recognition,road choice and value assumptions.It generalizes that the 30 years education reform is part of the whole social reforms and a kind of political enterprise.The fundamental dynamics originates from objective needs of economical growth and scientific researches.The road of education reform is top-down.The value assumptions emphasize the orientation of nationalism and economicism.Considering the new changes in social and educational development,this paper proposes some ideas and suggestions about further steps in ten or fifteen years,such as more unifications between education reform and other social reforms,more completeness of background recognition,more choices of reform ways and more humanisticality in respect of value assumption.

Abstract:As architectural education is used to think on the problems of program,curriculum,or teaching methodology.However,this article will focus on ideology of the architectural education and the body of the knowledge,which will led to a position of Chinese architectural education thinking.Based on historical facts and related analysis of the mode of education,the article pointed out that the cultural values should be seen the importance in the architectural education,which can not be isolated from the traditional cultural social existence. Authors believe that in the present circumstances,the re-carding the body of architectural knowledge suitable for the local culture and the establishment the academic norms in the international levels are the top tasks for the architectural education.

Abstract:Since the new century, architectural studies have been confronting by and addressing a set of new issues-namely environmental protection, inheritance of regional culture and rapid urbanization. As the major curriculum of architectural education, architectural design is also need to respond to the above challenges. This article discusses the adjustment and reform that architectural design course, in an age of transition, should be made in clarifying teaching purposes, setting up curriculum design project and training students’ design ability. And, at the end of the article, the teaching practice in the basic design courses at Tsinghua University in recent years is introduced.

Abstract:With the progress of the times, Chinese education must enable students to understand that architecture is not only a tool for life, but also an artistic creation. Architectural aesthetics also involves historical, cultural, and social factors, as well as psychological health. To cultivate architects with good artistic cultivation, it is necessary to increase education in art, aesthetics, psychology, and humanities such as traditional architectural theory, Chinese traditional philosophy, Chinese and Western architectural aesthetics, aesthetic principles, Chinese and foreign art history, mental health, architectural geomantic omen, literature, calligraphy and painting appreciation, sculpture, photography, etc. In recent years, some art colleges in China, such as the Central Academy of Fine Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts of Shanghai University, have successively introduced the subject of architecture, which is a great experiment and makes up for the shortcomings of traditional engineering and architecture colleges that focus on technology and light art. In terms of architecture education, it is necessary to cultivate students' creative thinking and enhance their artistic cultivation, and closely unite architectural aesthetics with mental health. In this regard, we are continuously discussing teaching methods, summing up teaching experience, and introducing new ideas to keep pace with the times.

Abstract:Since the implementation of the Reform and Opening-Up Policy,China’s engineering ed-ucation has experienced 40 years of development from recovery and adjustment,adjusting development, scale expansion to quality improvement.Such a four-stage development not only makes China become the largest engineering education system in the world,but also lays a solid foundation for the construc-tion of high quality engineering education.Based on rich and detailed data,this paper analyzes the scale,structure,quality,effectiveness,and reform focus of China’s engineering education in the four development stages respectively,and summarizes the main achievements in the past 40 years.The find-ings suggest that China's engineering education has made great contribution to the economic develop-ment,social progress,and national rej uvenation of China.

Nanotechnology for Environmental Engineering

Abstract:Since entering the new millennium, people have put forward higher requirements for the practicability and appreciation of architecture. This means that the traditional architecture is bound to usher in the tide of all-round reform. In order to adapt to the changes of the times, architectural design education must actively adjust, change the malpractice of only focusing on internal audit and relatively ignoring the external demand, and take meeting the market demand as the key goal of cultivating students. The author has been involved in architectural design education for many years and has a clear understanding of the current situation of the major. At the same time, he has long been concerned about the changes in the market demand of the major. On this basis, we can analyse the existing problems from the perspective of innovation, and then put forward suggestions to solve the problems combined with the changes of market demand. Finally, this paper looks forward to the future of digital architecture.

Abstract:The situation of China's higher education since Reform and Open-up Policy adopted in 1978 should be viewed from the relation of higher education with freeing the mind,establishing a market-oriented economy and opening up to the world.In the beginnings of Reform and Open-up Policy initiated,our higher education was very poor while social demands for it increased so rapidly.Significant changes have been made in all aspects of universities in including education goal,student recruitment,school size,tuition fee,graduate employment,management system,finance,etc.After the thirty-year reforms,the management capacity,competitive spirit and open mind of our universities have been strengthened continuously though many defects and issues still remain to be resolved.It is necessary for us to make clear the mission of university,enhance internal management reforms,and improve faculty quality so as to develop our higher education well.

Abstract:Taking the regular architectural education as an object for investigation,which appeared in China since the mid-19th century,the authors emphatically make study on the curriculum of technique and construction as well as their proportion in specialized courses in Chinese architectural education,thus sketching out the survey of Chinese architectural education development.Currently,the proportion of the construction and technique course in architectural specialized courses is at low level in Chinese architectural education history.It becomes more significant to heighten teaching effect by assimilating the technical courses with design courses.
