Abstract:The year 2011 marks the twentieth anniversary of the Soviet collapse.As a major political event of the late twentieth century,the Soviet collapse had an unprecedented impact in terms of both breadth and depth on the development of world socialism,resulting in twenty years of decline for the socialist movement.It will continue to have a profound and far-reaching influence on world structure and the development of human society.In stark contrast,China,faced with the great changes and adjustments of the post-Soviet world structure and international situation, especially the outbreak of the global financial crisis,has fought its way through difficulties and has unswervingly adhered to the guiding thought of Marxism,the leadership of the party of the proletariat,and reform and opening up.The successful practice of the socialist road with Chinese characteristics has injected new blood into the world socialist movement in the era of globalization.Learning from history will enable us to know the causes underlying the rise and fall of states.To draw further historical lessons from the Soviet collapse and gain a profound understanding of the destiny of today's world socialist movement,the Social Sciences in China Press has invited some scholarly contributions providing in-depth reflections on the Soviet collapse from multiple perspectives,with a view to presenting helpful insights for the solid development of socialism in China and the world.
