Abstract:According to CAI Yuanpei's idea of university,research is one of the important characters of university.The research character determines university as the institution which studies the profound learning as its purpose;it bears the mission and responsibility of inquiry of science and cultivation of talents.Learning and skill are the real difference between university and college.The research character of university determines that university is an autonomous institution,autonomy is the intrinsic need of research and is determined by the individual characteristics of research subject,which manifests such four aspects as educational independence,academic democracy,the teachers' and students' autonomy.
