Oriented Array of TiO2 Nanorods

Abstract:Rutile phase TiO_(2) nanorods were synthesized from TiCl_(3) by the microwave hydrothermal method.Large area self-organized oriented array of the nanorods was obtained under specific experimental conditions.Scanning and transmission electron microscopy analyses show that these nanorods having an average diameter of around 50 nm consist of bunches of 5 nm nanowires.Crystallographic orientations of the nanorods were successfully characterized by the electron backscatter diffraction technique,and based on the analyses the growth mechanism is suggested.
