Abstract:In this paper, we resolve the planar dual Minkowski problem, proposed by Huang et al. (2016) [31] for all positive indices without any symmetry assumption. More precisely, given any q>0, and function f on S1, bounded by two positive constants, we show that there exists a convex body Ω in the plane, containing the origin in its interior, whose dual curvature measure C˜q(Ω,⋅) has density f. In particular, if f is smooth, then ∂Ω is also smooth.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a class of functionals subject to a duality restriction. The functional is of the form J(Ω,Ω*)=∫Ωf+∫Ω*g $\mathcal{J}\left({\Omega},{{\Omega}}^{{\ast}}\right)={\int }_{{\Omega}}f+{\int }_{{{\Omega}}^{{\ast}}}g$ , where f, g are given nonnegative functions in a manifold. The duality is a relation α(x, y) ≤ 0 ∀ x ∈ Ω, y ∈ Ω*, for a suitable function α. This model covers several geometric and physical applications. In this paper we review two topological methods introduced in the study of the functional, and discuss possible extensions of the methods to related problems.

Abstract:Properties strict (M) and uniform (M) are introduced. It is shown that if X has property (M) and is uniformly convex in every direction, then X has both strict (M) and uniform (M). It is also shown that if X* is separable, then strict (M) implies uniform (M) and property (M) implies weak uniform normal structure. Relations with other geometrical properties of Banach spaces are also discussed.

Abstract:In the framework of topological vector spaces, we give a characterization of strong Minkowski separation, introduced by Cheng, et al., in terms of convex body separation. From this, several results on strong Minkowski separation are deduced. Using the results, we prove a drop theorem involving weakly countably compact sets in locally convex spaces. Moreover, we introduce the notion of the co-drop property and show that every weakly countably compact set has the co-drop property. If the underlying locally convex space is quasi-complete, then a bounded weakly closed set has the co-drop property if and only if it is weakly countably compact.

Abstract:<p>We further investigate (M)-property, an important structure characteristic of monotone measures. Some necessary and/or sufficient conditions of (M)-property are shown and some characteristics of (M)-property are described. It is shown that the restriction of a monotone measure to an atom of its own possesses (M)-property on this atom. By means of this basic fact, we characterize the equivalence among the Choquet integral, the pan-integral, the concave integral, and the Shilkret integral on atoms of monotone measures and obtain some special results. We also show a necessary and sufficient condition for the concave integral and the pan-integral to coincide on atoms of monotone measures.</p>

Abstract:In this paper, we shall prove that Axiom A maps are dense in the space of C 2 interval maps (endowed with the C 2 topology). As a step of the proof, we shall prove real and complex a priori bounds for (first return maps to certain small neighborhoods of the critical points of) real analytic multimodal interval maps with non-degenerate critical points. We shall also discuss rigidity for interval maps without large bounds.

Abstract:Functional digraphs are sometimes fractal sets. As a special kind of fractal sets, the dimension properties of the functional digraph are studied in this paper. Firstly, the proof of a Minkowski dimension theorem is discussed and a new proof is given. Secondly, according to this dimension theorem, the Minkowski dimensions of the digraphs of the sum, deviation, product and quotient of two functions are discussed. And the relations between these Minkowski dimensions and the Minkowski dimensions of the digraphs of the two functions are established. In the conclusion, the maximum Minkowski dimension of the two functional digraphs plays a decisive part in the Minkowski dimensions of the digraphs of the sum, deviation, product and quotient of two functions.

Abstract:A topological space $X$ is Baire if the Baire Category Theorem holds for $X$, i.e., the intersection of any sequence of open dense subsets of $X$ is dense in $X$. One of the interesting problems in the theory of functional spaces is the characterization of the Baire property of a functional space through the topological property of the support of functions. In the paper this problem is solved for the space $M(X, K)$ of all measurable compact-valued ($K$-valued) functions defined on a measurable space $(X,\Sigma)$ with the topology of pointwise convergence. It is proved that $M(X, K)$ is Baire for any metrizable compact space $K$.

Abstract:This paper presents a fairly general version of the well-known Gleason–Kahane– elazko (GKZ) theorem in the spirit of a GKZ type theorem obtained recently by Mashreghi and Ransford for Hardy spaces. In effect, we characterize a class of linear functionals as point evaluations on the vector space of all complex polynomials . We do not make any topological assumptions on . We then apply this characterization to present a version of the GKZ theorem for a vast class of topological spaces of complex-valued functions including the Hardy, Bergman, Dirichlet, and many more well-known function spaces. We obtain this result under the assumption of continuity of the linear functional, which we show, with the help of an example, to be a necessary condition for the desired conclusion. Lastly, we use the GKZ theorem for polynomials to obtain a version of the GKZ theorem for strictly cyclic weighted Hardy spaces.

Abstract:The Lebesgue property (order-continuity) of a monotone convex function on a solid vector space of measurable functions is characterized in terms of (1) the weak inf-compactness of the conjugate function on the order-continuous dual space, (2) the attainment of the supremum in the dual representation by order-continuous linear functionals. This generalizes and unifies several recent results obtained in the context of convex risk measures.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the anisotropic Minkowski problem. It is a problem of prescribing the anisotropic Gauss-Kronecker curvature for a closed strongly convex hypersurface in Euclidean space as a function on its anisotropic normals in relative or Minkowski geometry. We first formulate such problem to a Monge-Ampére type equation on the anisotropic support function and then prove the existence and uniqueness of the admissible solution to such equation. In conclusion, we give an affirmative answer to the anisotropic Minkowski problem.

Abstract:In geometry, there are several challenging problems studying numbers associated to convex bodies. For example, the packing density problem, the kissing number problem, the covering density problem, the packing-covering constant problem, Hadwiger's covering conjecture and Borsuk's partition conjecture. They are fundamental and fascinating problems about the same objects. However, up to now, both the methodology and the technique applied to them are essentially different. Therefore, a common foundation for them has been much expected. By treating problems of these types as functionals defined on the spaces of n-dimensional convex bodies, this paper tries to create such a foundation. In particular, supderivatives for these functionals will be studied.

Abstract:In this short survey we want to present some of the impact of Minkowski's successive minima within Convex and Discrete Geometry. Originally related to the volume of an $o$-symmetric convex body, we point out relations of the successive minima to other functionals, as e.g., the lattice point enumerator or the intrinsic volumes and we present some old and new conjectures about them. Additionally, we discuss an application of successive minima to a version of Siegel's lemma.
