Investigative journalists' job satisfaction and its predictors

Abstract:As a part of a large national project on investigative journalism,this study explores Chinese investigative journalists "job satisfaction and its predictors.Findings from a survey of 259 investigative reporters have suggest that;the overall level of investigative reporters" job satisfaction is moderate;journalists are more satisfied with colleague relationship, work schedule,social impacts,and other non-material benefits,but are less satisfied with salary,welfare and remuneration,promotion opportunity,and other non-material benefits;evaluations of non-material benefits positively correlated with evaluations of work collaboration and colleague relationships,while evaluations of material benefits correlated negatively with evaluations of non-material benefits;income,age,intention to pursue a long-term career as an investigative reporter,geographical difference and media types all have impacts on job satisfaction.
