Investigation on job satisfaction of health educators in 3 provinces and 1 city in East China

Abstract:Objective To investigate the current situation of job satisfaction among health educators in Shanghai, Jiangsu Province, Shandong Province and Anhui Province, and to explore the factors affecting their job satisfaction.Methods From October to December 2021,an electronic questionnaire survey was conducted among all health educators in 58 provincial and municipal centers for disease control and prevention, 2 municipal centers for health promotion, 85 hospitals and 42 community health service centers in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Shandong and Anhui provinces, and multiple linear regression models were used to analyze the influencing factors of their job satisfaction.Results A total of 1012 valid questionnaires were collected.The job satisfaction of health educators in 3 provinces and 1 city was（82.93±13.61）. Multiple linear regression results showed that age, gender, education level, province, institution type, title, monthly basic salary, local health education and health communication status, and local people′s health literacy were the influencing factors of job satisfaction among health educators.Conclusion Health educators in three provinces and one city have high job satisfaction.In order to further improve their job satisfaction, it is important to increase the promotion opportunities of health educators, improve the incentive mechanism, increase wages and increase the purchase of health education services.
