Abstract:In this paper, a new construction of quaternary bent functions from quaternary quadratic forms over Galois rings of characteristic 4 is proposed. Based on this construction, several new classes of quaternary bent functions are obtained, and as a consequence, several new classes of quadratic binary bent and semi-bent functions in polynomial forms are derived. This work generalizes the recent work of N. Li, X. Tang and T. Helleseth.

Abstract:Based on the definition of generalized partially bent functions, using the theory of linear transformation, the relationship among generalized partially bent functions over ring Z N, generalized bent functions over ring Z N and affine functions is discussed. When N is a prime number, it is proved that a generalized partially bent function can be decomposed as the addition of a generalized bent function and an affine function. The result obtained here generalizes the main works concerning partially bent functions by Claud Carlet in [1].

Abstract:The theory of continued fractions of functions $ \sqrt D $ is used to give lower bound for class numbers $h(D)$ of general real quadratic function fields $K=k(\sqrt D)$ over $k={\bf F}_q(T)$. For five series of real quadratic function fields $K$, the bounds of $h(D)$ are given more explicitly, e.g., if $ D=F^2+c,$ \mbox{}\hspace{0.1cm} then $ h(D)\geq {deg}F /{deg} P;$ \hspace{0.1cm} if $D=(SG)^2+cS, $ then $ h(D)\geq {deg}S / {deg} P; $ if $D=(A^m+a)^2+A, $ then $ h(D)\geq {deg}A / {deg} P, $ where $P$ is irreducible polynomial splitting in $K, c\in {\bf F}_q$ is any constant. Abstract:We consider the class numbers of imaginary quadratic extensions $F(\sqrt{-p})$, for certain primes $p$, of totally real quadratic fields $F$ which have class number one. Using seminal work of Shintani, we obtain two elementary class number formulas for many such fields. The first expresses the class number as an alternating sum of terms that we generate from the coefficients of the power series expansions of two simple rational functions that depend on the arithmetic of $F$ and $p$. The second makes use of expansions of $1/p$, where $p$ is a prime such that $p \equiv 3 \pmod{4}$ and $p$ remains inert in $F$. More precisely, for a generator $\varepsilon_F$ of the totally positive unit group of $\mathcal{O}_F$, the base-$\varepsilon_{F}$ expansion of $1/p$ has period length $\ell_{F,p}$, and our second class number formula expresses the class number as a finite sum over disjoint cosets of size $\ell_{F,p}$.

Abstract:This paper presents a necessary condition for the ideal class group of an imaginary quadratic function field K = k(~(1/2)D) (k = Fq(x),2+q) to be of exponent ≤ 2. The condition is proved to be sufficient in some cases. Particularly, the authors present an analogue of S. Louboutin's result[1] in the case of function field.

Abstract: In this paper, we consider some hybrid Diophantine equations of addition and multiplication. We first improve a result on new Hilbert-Waring problem. Then we consider the equation \begin{equation} \begin{cases} A+B=C ABC=D^n \end{cases} \end{equation} where $A,B,C,D,n \in\ZZ_{+}$ and $n\geq3$, which may be regarded as a generalization of Fermat's equation $x^n+y^n=z^n$. When $\gcd(A,B,C)=1$, $(1)$ is equivalent to Fermat's equation, which means it has no positive integer solutions. We discuss several cases for $\gcd(A,B,C)=p^k$ where $p$ is an odd prime. In particular, for $k=1$ we prove that $(1)$ has no nonzero integer solutions when $n=3$ and we conjecture that it is also true for any prime $n>3$. Finally, we consider equation $(1)$ in quadratic fields $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{t})$ for $n=3$.

Abstract:Let $f$ be a positive definite integral quadratic form in $d$ variables. In the present paper, we establish a direct link between the genus representation number of $f$ and the order of higher even $K$-groups of the ring of integers of real quadratic fields, provided $f$ is diagonal and $d \equiv 1 \mod 4$, by applying the Siegel mass formula. When $d=3$, we derive an explicit formula of $r_f(n)$ in terms of the class number of the corresponding imaginary quadratic field and the central algebraic values of $L$-functions of quadratic twists of elliptic curves, by exploring a theorem of Waldspurger. Moreover, by the $2$-divisibility results on the algebraic $L$-values of quadratic twist of elliptic curves, we obtain a lower bound for the $2$-adic valuation of $r_f(n)$ for some odd integer $n$. The numerical results show our lower bound is optimal for certain cases. We also apply our main result to the quadratic form $f=x_1^2+\cdots+x^2_d$ to determine the order of the higher $K$-groups numerically.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate properties of generalized bent Boolean functions and 2k-bent (i.e., negabent, octabent, hexadecabent, et al.) Boolean functions in a uniform framework. From the Hadamard matrices, Hodzic and Pasalic presented sufficient conditions for generalized bent functions. Using cyclotomic fields and the decomposition of generalized bent functions, we generalize their results, prove that Hodzic and Pasalic's conditions of generalized bent functions are not only sufficient but also necessary, and completely characterize generalized bent functions in terms of their component functions. Furthermore, we present a secondary construction of bent functions or semibent functions from generalized bent functions. Finally, we give the relations of generalized bent functions and 2 k -bent functions, demonstrate that 2 k -bent functions are actually a special class of generalized bent functions, and completely characterize 2 k -bent functions.

Abstract:This paper studies Galois extensions over real quadratic number fields or cyclotomic number fields ramified only at one prime. In both cases, the ray class groups are computed, and they give restrictions on the finite groups that can occur as such Galois groups. Abstract:Let p be a prime number which is split in an imaginary quadratic field k. Let \mathfrak{p} be a place of k above p. Let k_\infty be the unique Z_p-extension of k which unramified outside of \mathfrak{p}, and let K_\intfy be a finite extension of k_\infty, abelian over k. In case p \notin {2,3}, we prove that the characteristic ideal of the projective limit of global units modulo elliptic units coincides with the characteristic ideal of the projective limit of the p-class groups. Our approach uses Euler systems, which were first used in this context by <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://K.Rubin" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a>. If p \in {2,3}, we obtain a divisibility relation, up to a certain constant.
