Abstract:Several classes of upper bounds for Laplacian spectral radius of a graph are obtained. By an appropriate choice of diagonal matrices, some bounds which are in some sense better than the previous ones are presented.

Abstract:The spectral radius of a graph is the largest eigenvalue of adjacency matrix of the graph and its Laplacian spectral radius is the largest eigenvalue of the Laplacian matrix which is the difference of the diagonal matrix of vertex degrees and the adjacency matrix. Some sharp bounds are obtained for the (Laplacian) spectral radii of connected graphs. As consequences, some (sharp) upper bounds of the Nordhaus–Gaddum type are also obtained for the sum of (Laplacian) spectral radii of a connected graph and its connected complement.

Abstract:Let G be a simple graph with n vertices, m edges, diameter D and degree sequence d(1), d(2), ..., d(n), and let lambda(1)(G) be the largest Laplacian eigenvalue of G. Denote Delta = max{d(i) : 1 <= i <= n}, ((alpha)t)(i) = Sigma(i similar to j) d(j)(alpha) and ((alpha)m)(i) = ((alpha)t)(i)/d(i)(alpha), where alpha is a real number. In this article, we first give an upper bound on lambda(1)(G) for a non-regular graph involving Delta and D; next present two upper bounds on lambda(1)(G) for a connected graph in terms of d(i) and ((alpha)m)(i); at last obtain a lower bound on lambda(1)(G) for a connected bipartite graph in terms of d(i) and ((alpha)t)(i). Some known results are shown to be the consequences of our theorems.

Abstract:The weighted graphs, where the edge weights are positive numbers, are considered. The authors obtain some lower bounds on the spectral radius and the Laplacian spectral radius of weighted graphs, and characterize the graphs for which the bounds are attained. Moreover, some known lower bounds on the spectral radius and the Laplacian spectral radius of unweighted graphs can be deduced from the bounds.

Abstract:Let G be a simple connected undirected graph. The Laplacian spectral ratio of G is defined as the quotient between the largest and second smallest Laplacian eigenvalues of G , which is an important parameter in graph theory and networks. We obtain some bounds of the Laplacian spectral ratio in terms of the number of the spanning trees and the sum of powers of the Laplacian eigenvalues. In addition, we study the extremal Laplacian spectral ratio among trees with n vertices, which improves some known results of Z. You and B. Liu (2012).

Abstract:The spectral radius ρ(G) of a graph G is the largest eigenvalue of its adjacency matrix. Let Bk denote a book with k pages. In this paper, we generalize a result of Lu et al [M. Lu, H. Liu, F. Tian, A new upper bound for the spectral radius of graphs with girth at least 5, Linear Algebra Appl. 414 (2006) 512–516.] on the upper bound for the spectral radius of connected graphs with girth at least 5 to connected {Bk+1,K2,l+1}-free graphs G of order n with maximum degree Δ as follows:ρ(G)⩽[k-l+(k-l)2+4Δ+4l(n-1)]/2with equality if and only if G is a strongly regular graph with parameters (Δ,k,l). This implies sharp upper bounds for book-free or K2,l-free graphs.

Abstract:We give upper and lower bounds for the spectral radius of a nonnegative matrix by using its average 2-row sums, and characterize the equality cases if the matrix is irreducible. We also apply these bounds to various nonnegative matrices associated with a graph, including the adjacency matrix, the signless Laplacian matrix, the distance matrix, the distance signless Laplacian matrix, and the reciprocal distance matrix.

Abstract:Let G be a simple graph with n vertices and m edges and Gc be its complement. Let δ(G)=δ and Δ(G)=Δ be the minimum degree and the maximum degree of vertices of G, respectively. In this paper, we present a sharp upper bound for the Laplacian spectral radius as follows:λ1(G)⩽(Δ+δ−1)+(Δ+δ−1)2+4(4m−2δ(n−1))2.Equality holds if and only if G is a connected regular bipartite graph. Another result of the paper is an upper bound for the Laplacian spectral radius of the Nordhaus–Gaddum type. We prove thatλ1(G)+λ1(Gc)⩽n−2+(Δ+δ+1−n)2+n2+4(Δ−δ)(n−1).

Abstract:Let G be a simple graph and λ ( G ) the spectral radius of G . For k ≥ 2 , a k ‐edge decomposition ( H 1 , ... , H k ) is k spanning subgraphs such that their edge sets form a k ‐partition of the edge set of G . In this paper, we obtain some sharp lower and upper bounds for λ ( H 1 ) + ⋯ + λ ( H k ) in terms of the clique number of H i and the size of G , and discuss what k ‐edge decomposition ( H 1 , ... , H k ) can maximize λ ( H 1 ) + ⋯ + λ ( H k ) when G is a complete graph. These generalize some Nordhaus–Gaddum‐type results on spectral radius for k = 2 , due to Nosal, Hong and Shu, and Nikiforov.

Abstract:Core-satellite graphs Θ(c, s, η) ∼= Kc ▽ (ηKs) are graphs consisting of a central clique Kc (the core) and η copies of Ks (the satellites) meeting in a common clique. They belong to the class of graphs of diameter two. Agave graphs Θ(2, 1, η) ∼= K2 ▽ (ηK1) belong to the general class of complete split graphs, where the graphs consist of a central clique K2 and η copies of K1 which are connected to all the nodes of the clique. They are the subclass of Core-satellite graphs. Let μ(G) be the spectral radius of the signless Laplacian matrix Q(G). In this paper, we have obtained the greatest lower bound and the least upper bound of signless Laplacian spectral radius of Agave graphs. These bounds have been expressed in terms of graph invariants like m the number of edges, n the number of vertices, δ the minimum degree, ∆ the maximum degree, and η copies of the satellite. We have made use of the approximation technique to derive these bounds. This unique approach can be utilized to determine the bounds for the signless Laplacian spectral radius of any general family of graphs. We have also obtained Nordhaus-Gaddum type inequality using the derived bounds.
