Analysis on salt mine resources and its industrial situation in China

Abstract:China is one of the countries with the longest history of salt production in the world.Salt mainly comes from seas,wells and lakes.The total reserves of the world salt mines are about 6.4× 107 billion tons,mainly distributed in P.R.China,the United States,Russia,Canada and Germany,accounting for more than 80％ of the world's total rock salt resources.There are nearly 200 salt mines in China,and the reserves of sodium chloride are 13 billion tons.The types of salt deposits can be divided into four types:marine carbonate sulphate type,lake clastic rock type,underground brine type and quaternary saltlake type.In 2014,China's salt production was 91.820 5 million tons,of which the well and rock salt,sea salt and lake salt accounted for 52.53％,33.60％ and 13.85％ respectively.The characteristics of China's salt market are:the supply of salt is larger than demand,the consumption demand increases,the support of ‘two-alkali’ salt is obvious,the safety of salt is strong,and the business model is constantly innovating."The Belt and Road" strategy of China has brought great opportunities to the transformation and upgrading of the salt industry.
