Abstract:In this paper, we study the regularity of convex solutions to the Dirichlet problem of the homogeneous Monge-Ampere equation det D(2)u = 0. We prove that if the domain is a strip region and the boundary functions are locally uniformly convex and C-k+2,C-alpha smooth, then the solution is C-k+2,C-alpha smooth up to boundary. By an example, we show the solution may fail to be C-2 smooth if boundary functions are not locally uniformly convex. Similar results have also been obtained for the Dirichlet problem on bounded convex domains.

Abstract:It is well-known that a KAM torus can be considered as a graph of smooth viscosity solution. Salamon and Zehnder (Comment Math Helv 64:84–132, 1989) have proved that there exist invariant tori having prescribed Diophantine frequencies for nearly integrable and positively definite Lagrangian systems with associated Hamiltonian H , whose Diophantine index is τ . If the invariant torus is represented as 𝒢=⋃_x∈𝕋^n(x,P_0+Dv(x,P_0)) in the cotangent bundle T^*𝕋^n , then we can show that for any viscosity solution u ( x , P ), which satisfies the H-J Eq. (1.1), Du(x,P)-Dv(x,P_0)_∞≤ CP-P_0^1/τ+1, when P-P_0 is small enough.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the study of P-regularity of viscosity solutions u(x, P), P is an element of R-n, of a smooth Tonelli Lagrangian L : TTn -> R characterized by the cell equation H (x, P + D(x)u(x, P)) = H (P), where H : (TTn)-T-* -> R denotes the Hamiltonian associated with L and (H) over bar is the effective Hamiltonian. We show that if P-0 corresponds to a quasi-periodic invariant torus with a non-resonant frequency, then D(x)u(x, P) is uniformly Holder continuous in P at P-0 with Holder exponent arbitrarily close to 1, and if both H and the torus are real analytic and the frequency vector of the torus is Diophantine, then D(x)u(x, P) is uniformly Lipschitz continuous in P at P-0, i.e., there is a constant C > 0 such that parallel to D(x)u (., P) - D(x)u (., P-0) parallel to infinity <= C parallel to P - P-0 parallel to for parallel to P - P-0 parallel to << 1. Similar P-regularity of the Peierls barriers associated with L (x, v) - (P, v) is also obtained.

Abstract:First, we provide a necessary and sufficient condition of the existence of viscosity solutions of the nonlinear first order PDEF(x,u,Du)=0,x∈M, under which we prove the compactness of the set of all viscosity solutions. Here, F(x,u,p) satisfies Tonelli conditions with respect to the argument p and −λ≤∂F∂u<0 for some λ>0, and M is a compact manifold without boundary. Second, we study the long time behavior of viscosity solutions of the Cauchy problem forwt+F(x,w,wx)=0,(x,t)∈M×(0,+∞), from the weak KAM point of view. The dynamical methods developed in [13], [14], [15] play an essential role in this paper.

Abstract:Several regularity criterions of Leray-Hopf weak solutions $u$ to the 3D Navier-Stokes equations are obtained. The results show that a weak solution $u$ becomes regular if the gradient of velocity component $\nabla_{h}{u}$ (or $ \nabla{u_3}$) satisfies the additional conditions in the class of $L^{q}(0,T; \dot{B}_{p,r}^{s}(\mathbb{R}^{3}))$, where $\nabla_{h}=(\partial_{x_{1}},\partial_{x_{2}})$ is the horizontal gradient operator. Besides, we also consider the anisotropic regularity criterion for the weak solution of Navier-Stokes equations in $\mathbb{R}^3$. Finally, we also get a further regularity criterion, when give the sufficient condition on $\partial_3u_3$.

Abstract:This paper deals with: (1) the generalized additive eigenvalue problem \[ H(x,u(x),Du(x))=c, \quad x\in M, \] where the unknown is a pair $(c,u)$ of a constant $c \in \mathbb{R}$ and a function $u$ on $M$ for which $u$ is a backward weak KAM solution (or equivalently, viscosity solution) of the above equation; (2) the long-time behavior of viscosity solutions of the Cauchy problem for \[ w_{t}(x,t)+H(x, w(x,t), Dw(x,t))=c,\quad (x,t)\in M\times(0,+\infty). \] We assume $H=H(x,u,p)$ satisfies Tonelli conditions in the argument $p\in T^*_xM$ and the uniform Lipschitz condition in the argument $u\in\mathbb{R}$. First, we provide three necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of backward weak KAM solutions of the stationary equation for a given $c\in \mathbb{R}$. Second, we analyse the structure of the set $\mathfrak{C}$ of all real numbers $c$'s for which the stationary equation admits backward weak KAM solutions. Third, the long-time behavior of viscosity solutions of the Cauchy problem for the evolutionary equation is studied. Implicit Lax-Oleinik semigroups $\{T^\pm_t\}_{t\geqslant 0}$ play an essential role in this paper. The most important novelty in this work is to reveal several new aspects of existence and long-time behavior of viscosity solutions of the above equations without monotonicity assumptions $\frac{\partial H}{\partial u}\geqslant 0$ (or, $\frac{\partial H}{\partial u}\leqslant 0$): the propeties of the operator $T^+_t\circ T^-_t$ is used to provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of viscosity solutions of the stationary equation; three constants are introduced to analyse the structure of $\mathfrak{C}$; the information of $w$ in finite time partly determines the long-time behavior of $w$.
Pointwise regularity for locally uniformly elliptic equations and applications

Abstract:In this paper, we study the regularity for viscosity solutions of locally uniformly elliptic equations and obtain a series of interior pointwise $C^{k,\alpha}$ ($k\geq 1$, $0<\alpha<1$) regularity with smallness assumptions on the solution and the right-hand term. As applications, we obtain various interior pointwise regularity for several classical elliptic equations, i.e., the prescribed mean curvature equation, the Monge-Ampère equation, the $k$-Hessian equations, the $k$-Hessian quotient equations and the Lagrangian mean curvature equation. Moreover, the smallness assumptions are necessary in most cases (Remark 2.6, Remark 3.5, Remark 4.7, Remark 5.4 and Remark 6.5).

Abstract:Several types of new regularity criteria for Leray-Hopf weak solutions u to the 3D Navier-Stokes equations are obtained. Some of them are based on the third component u_3 of velocity under Prodi-Serrin index condition, another type is in terms of ω_3 and ∂_3u_3 with Prodi-Serrin index condition. And a very recent work of the authors, based on only one of the nine entries of the gradient tensor, is renovated.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the partial regularity of the solutions for the three-dimensional Boussinesq equations. We first prove a criterion of local Hölder continuous of the suitable weak solutions of the Boussinesq equations, and show that one-dimensional Hausdorff measure of the singular point set is zero. Secondly, we present a local uniform gradient estimate on the suitable weak solutions and assert that the local behavior of the solution can be dominated by some scaled quantities, such as the scaled local L3-norm of the velocity. Besides, when the initial data v0 and θ0 decay sufficiently rapidly at ∞, the distribution of the regular point set of the suitable weak solutions is also considered. Based on it, one can find that MHD equations are more similar to Navier–Stokes equations than Boussinesq equations. Finally, we give a local regularity criterion of the suitable weak solutions near the boundary.

Abstract:We consider the global well-posedness of the inhomogeneous incompressible Navier-Stokes-Korteweg system with a general capillary term. Based on the maximal regularity property, we obtain the global existence and uniqueness of solutions to the incompressible Navier-Stokes-Korteweg system with variable viscosity and capillary terms. By assuming the initial density $\rho_0$ is close to a positive constant, additionally, the initial velocity $u_0$ and the initial density $\nabla \rho_0$ are small in critical space $\dot B^{-1+d/p}_{p,1}(\mathbb R^{d})$ $(1<p<d).$ This work relies on the maximal regularity property of the heat equation, of the Stokes equation, and of the Lamé equation.

Abstract:We consider the regularity of weak solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations in R-3. Let u be a weak solution in R-3 x (0, T), w = curl u, and w = (w(1), w(2), 0). It is proved that u becomes a classical solution if w epsilon L-q (0, T; B-r(0)sigma), for 2/q + 3/r = 2, 3/2 < r <= infinity, and sigma <= 2r/3. Abstract:In this paper, we obtain a series of regularity results for viscosity solutions of fully nonlinear elliptic equations with oblique derivative boundary conditions. In particular, we derive the pointwise C α, C 1,α and C 2,α regularity. As byproducts, we also prove the A–B–P maximum principle, Harnack inequality, uniqueness and solvability of the equations.

Abstract:Based on a fixed point argument, we give a dynamical representation of the viscosity solution to Cauchy problem of certain weakly coupled systems of Hamilton-Jacobi equations with continuous initial datum. Using this formula, we obtain some regularity results related to the viscosity solution, including a partial extension of Lions' regularizing effect [17] to the case of weakly coupled systems.

Abstract:We study the regularity of Lipschitz viscosity solutions to the $\sigma_k$ Yamabe problem in the negative cone case. If either $k=n$ or the manifold is conformally flat and $k>n/2$, we prove that all Lipschitz viscosity solutions are smooth away from a closed set of measure zero. For the general $k>n/2$ case, under certain assumptions, we prove the existence of a Lipschitz viscosity solution that is smooth away from a closed set of measure zero.
