Abstract:Chinese Crowtit Paradoxornis heudei heudei was found and photoed in Tuohu Lake(117°10′03″E,33°10′00″N),Wuhe County in May,2006 and February,2009,respectively.With the help of the fauna literature,this species were recognized as a new bird record in Anhui Province.

Abstract:Chinese Crowtit Paradoxornis heudei was found and captured in photographs in Donghu Wetland park,Huaibei(33°57′47″-33°58′01″N,116°49′23″-116°50′23″E),and Shilonghu Wetland park,Sixian(33°21′59″-33°22′38″N,117°53′30″-117°53′57″ E) in May,2010,March and April,2011,respectively.With the help of the fauna documents,this species were designated as a new bird record in Anhui Province.

Abstract:In July,2011,one Accipiter virgatus was found in Gaogang Town,Shuchen County,Liu'an City.As the same time,one Accipiter virgatus juvenile was rescued from the local mountain.All the above individuals were taken pictures.In January,2012,one Accipiter virgatus was found in the farmland,in Changfeng,Hefei City.In February,2012,another Accipiter virgatus was found and photoed in Dashushan hill in Hefei of Anhui Province.On the basis of fauna literature analysis,Accipiter virgatus were recognized as a new bird record in Anhui Province.The new bird record is helpful and important for Accipiter virgatus study,especially for its geographical distribution and breeding biology study.

Abstract:From 1994 to 2006, totally 12 new bird records for Hainan Island, China, have been found. These birds species include Sooty-headed Bulbul Pyconotus aurigaster,Hair-crested Drongo Dicrurus hottentottus,Gray-capped Greenfinch Carduelis sinica,Tufted Duck Aythya fuligula,Bank Swallow Riparia riparia,Oriental Plover Charadrius veredus,Northern Lapwing Vanellus vanellus,Grey-headed Lapwing Vanellus cinereus,Long-billed Ringed Plover Charadrius placidus,Black-collared Starling Gracupica nigricollis,Black-tailed Gull Larus crassirostris,and Ancient Murrelet Synthliboramphus antiquus.

Abstract:Several scientific invesitigations have conducted in Gansu Province since 1987 and ten kinds of birds specimens were collected during these years. These specimens were identified as Eastern White Peli-can(Pelecanus onocrotalus), Ruddy Crake(Porzana fusca), Little Bustard(Otis tetrax), Pomarine Skua(Ster-corarius pomarinus), Tibetan Sandgrouse(Syrrhaptes tibetanus), Snowy Owl(Nyctea scandiaca), Long-tailed Mountain Thrush(oothera dixoni), Penduline Tit(Remiz pendulinus), Goldfinch(Carduelis ambigus) and Red-winged Shrike Babbler(Ptesottws flaviscapis). This is the first record of these species in Gansu Province. The specimens of seven species have collected: Pomarine Skua, Tibetan Sandgrouse, Snowy Owl, Long-tailed Mountain Thrush, Goldfinch, Red-winged Shrike Babbler and the specimens of the rest birds have been watched.

Abstract:Several Black-crested Bulbul (Pycnonotus flaviventris) with red throats were observed and photographed in December 2010 and April 2011 in the Youjiang District (N23(o)54', E06(o)36', altitude 179 m) and Jingxi County(N22(o)59', E1 06(o)40', altitude 354 m) of Baise city, northwestern Guangxi, in southern China. These individuals belong to subspecies johnsoni, recorded previously in central and southeastern Thailand as well as the southern Indochina Region. This sighting provides a new record of the subspecies within China, warranting a discussion on the classification and distribution of Pycnonotus flaviventris.

Abstract:A survey of birds was conducted in Guangxi from 2004,five new records(three species and two subspecies) were detected.They are Picumnus innominatus malayorum,Copsychus saularis erimelas,Turdus mupinensis,Pellorneum ticklelli and Stachyris ambigua.Their brief morphological characteristic and specimen were reported.In addition,their classification and distribution were discussed preliminarily in this paper.

Abstract:Great White Pelican(Pelecanus onocrotalus) has been infrequendy reported in China in recent years.One pair of Great White Pelican was found and captured in Lingxi River(117.460327E,33.771728N),a tributary of Huai River, Lingbi County,Suzhou City in May 2005 and is now held at Hefei Wild Animal Park.Another pair of Great White Pelican was found and photographed at Shimen Lake,Anqing City in October,2010.Two Great White Pelicans were found and photographed at Shengjin Lake,Chizhou City in November,2010.The 2005 record was established as a new species record for Anhui Province.

Abstract:White-eared Night-heron (Gorsachius magnificus) is the most threatened and geographically restricted of the herons. Its biology is essentially unknown. On 24 May 2004, six adults and four juveniles were found for the first time at Thousand Island Lake, Zhejiang Province, P. R. China. In all, six nests and sixteen eggs were found over three years. Thirteen nestlings survived to fledging from seven breeding pairs. These numbers are the largest ever documented for the species. Our observations of breeding performance serve as an important baseline for future research on this species.

Abstract:We report our inventories of birds observed and collected at three field sites from the province of Guizhou, southeastern China. Our findings detailed herein complement our previous ornithological surveys from Guangxi province, as part of a comprehensive biotic survey of the region. Of 153 total bird species recorded, 17 were new for the province, among which several taxa of conservational importance, such as: Golden Pheasant Crysolophus pictus, Tawny Fish-Owl Ketupa flavipes, Black-breasted Thrush Turdus dissimilis, Fujian Flycatcher Niltava davidii, Red-tailed Laughingthrush Garrulax milnei, and Slaty Bunting Latoucheornis siemsseni. These records provide the most recent insight into the current status of the habitats and the avian biodiversity of an important, yet sparsely surveyed and reported biogeographic region.

Abstract:An investigation has been conducted in Dongzhai Natural Reserve from April to July,2008.A nest of Crested Goshawk that contained a nestling and an egg was found.This has been the first record of this species in Henan province,which indicates that the distribution area of Crested Goshawk is extending to the east and to the north.The habitat type for Crested Goshawk in Henan province remains to be determined.

Abstract:A specimen of White-spectacled Warbler Seicercus affinis was collected in Diding Nature Reserve in Jingxi County, Southwest Guangxi province in December 2006. It is a new record of bird species in Guangxi. During our field investigation in Diding Nature Reserve from January 2005 to May 2007, Seicercus affinis were observed frequently in the underbrush of the evergreen broad-leaved forest and the shrub around agricultural land at an altitude of 500-700 m. There are two subspecies of Seicercus affinis recorded in the world, but only one in China. Through a careful examination, this specimen was identified as Seicercus affinis intermedius. The distribution of Seicercus affinis in China will be discussed in this paper. The specimen was kept at the College of Animal Sciences and Technology, Guangxi University.

Abstract:Elliot's pheasant(Syrmaticus ellioti), an endemic species to China, CITES Appendix I and the First Class nationally-protected bird, was recorded by the infrared camera video system in Kuankuoshui National Nature Reserve, Guizhou, southwestern China in May 2012. To our knowledge, this is the first record for the bird to be found in this forest area, and thus made the distribution of the Elliot's pheasant cover the whole eastern part of Guizhou Province.

Abstract:The population number, density and diversity of waterfowls in Zhejiang Province were surveyed from April 1997 to July 1999, with the systematic sampling, line transect and point count methods. 7 orders, 13 families and 97 species of waterfowl with 53.6% winter visitors were recorded. Podiceps grisegena, Calidris minuta and Limicola falcinellus were found as new records in Zhejiang Province. About 92.6×104 individuals was estimated as the total number of waterfowls in Zhejiang based on the density survey. Among these waterfowls, the number of Calidris alpina was highest and there were 25 species that population number was more than 10 000 individuals. The population densities of waterfowls in the area of sea coast were higher than in the areas of continent and island. In sea coast area, there were 21 species that density was more than 1.0 ind./km2 and 5 species in island area. There was, however, no any species that density was over 1.0 ind./km2 in continent area. The intertidal mud wetlands on the coast of Zhejiang, particularly in the areas of Wenzhou Bay and Yueqing Bay were very important areas not only for Ptatalea minor to use as stopover sites, but also for Larus saundersi to use as wintering sites.
